Trouble using grid.layout in Sweave
Hi!
I am troubled by Sweave which I want to use in order to plot graphics which
I build up successively by the use of grid.layout. Here is the code:
<<fig=TRUE,label=evolDist,height=6in,width=3in,pdf=FALSE>>=
## combined plot via grid viewports
grid.newpage()
pushViewport(viewport(layout=grid.layout(2,1)))
vlay <- function(x,y) viewport(layout.pos.row=x, layout.pos.col=y)

Sweave choking on \\ in filename
Dear all,
Sweave chokes when using "\\" in the path to the Rnw file. Using "/"
works fine. The problem is that Eclipse+StatET uses "\\" in the
filename.
And example of the error, traceback and sessionInfo are given below.

pacf lags
pacf in devel seems by default to return a different number of lags
than 1.7.1 for $pacf. I don't see any mention of this in the NEWS file,
or any change in the documentation, so I suspect it is and error,
though it may be an undocumented improvement.
(Newbie question: How is the simplest way to display a function like
pacf.default that is not exported from a namespace?)

tail.matrix returns matrix, while tail.mts return vector
Hi
I have a few problems with tail/head when applied to multiple time
series. I'm not sure as whether I did not understand the function or
whether it correspond to an unexpected behavior.
When head(a,n) is applied on data.frame or matrix, it returns a
data-frame or matrix with first n obs of *each* variable. When applied
to a mts object, it returns first n obs of *first* variable only,

There appears to be a bug in plot.mts() in R-1.3.0 when attempting to

pacf
Dear list,
according to the documentation of acf{ts}
"the partial correlation coefficient is estimated by fitting
autoregressive models of successively higher orders up to lag.max. "
However, R seems to return the Yule-Walker estimates of the PACF by
default. You can check this using c(1:10) as the series: the YW
estimates are 0.7000000 and -0.1527035 for lags 1 and 2 . If the PACF

How to Label Certain Lags for a PACF Graph
When I use the command for PACF, lags 5, 10, 15, and 20 are labeled. I would
like to label lag 1. I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me how
to do this. Below is the command that I am using:
pacf(data$R1,main="Series R1 Residuals")

Easy acf and pacf for irregular time series in R
R:
Is there an easy way to get the acf and pacf for an irregular times
series? That is, the acf and pacf with lag lengths that are in units of
time, not observation number.

fix() changes the class of mts objects
Dear all,
it looks like fix() changes the class of mts objects, here is a reproducible
example (tested both on WinXP and Linux):
> x <- ts(cbind(1:5,1:5))
> x
Time Series:
Start = 1
End = 5
Frequency = 1
Series 1 Series 2
1 1 1
2 2 2
3 3 3
4 4 4
5 5 5

Sweave bug? when writing figures / deleting variable in chunk
I have found a quite strange (to me) behaviour in Sweave. It only
occurs in the following situation:
1. define a variable in one chunk
2. use it within a subsequent figure-generating chunk
3. delete it at the end of that same chunk
Then the Sweave driver chokes, not finding the variable name when
generating the figure
Example:
% document bug2.Rnw
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{Sweave}

'Apparently' trouble with name spaces and Sweave...
Ben Bolstad experienced something odd while running R CMD check over
a package of ours using r-devel (yesterday's fresh).
He tracked down the problem to a vignette calling 'library(MASS)'.
Please kindly ignore if this is a known (and temporary) issue.

acf () and pacf()
I have used acf() and pacf() in R to get the acf and pacf values at
max/lag=20
but the output did not show the values associated with lag numbers. lag
numbers is shown in decimals.

Dear all,
following the thread

regarding the bug in the partial autocorrelation function for
multivariate time series.
I have prepared a web page with patches and relevant information.

I am new to R. I need your help.
I have got the time series of fifteen variables in data file. I would like
to plot it in R in separate ps pages, not in same ps page.
I was reading about mts, but I could not figure out how to do it.
Can anyone help me out?

pacf
Hi,
I wanted to understand exactly how acf and pacf works, so I tried to
calculate ac and pac manually. For ac, I used the standard acf formula:
acf(k) = sum(X(t)-Xbar)(X(t-k)-Xbar))/sum(X(t)-Xbar)^2. But for pac, I could
not figure out how to calculate it by hand. I understand that in both R and
EVIEWS, it is done using the Durbin-Levinson algorithm by the computer.
However, I don't

acf and pacf plot
Hi,
I noticed that whenever I ran acf or pacf, the plot generated by R always
includes two horizontal blue doted lines. Furthermore, these two lines are
not documented in the acf documentation. I don't know what they are for, but
it seems that they are important. Could someone tell me what they are and
how are they calculated?
Thanks,

Best Way to Import HC-X800 1080 60p/50p MTS to iMovie HD
Panasonic HC-X800 is expert HD camcorder with 3MOS system Pro, shooting

You may want to edit AVCHD MTS videos you shoot with iMovie. The problem
is that iMovie often cannot import and recognize the 60p/50p footages,
nor can it accept
