Can't run regression on G3 Mac
Hi, I'm new to R. I was wondering if anyone has an OS X native installation
(not Carbon) of R on a G3 Macintosh that is able to run linear regression?
I installed Jan de Leeuw's R binary for OS 10.2 Jaguar on my laptop, which
is still a G3 model. When I try to run a simple regression, using lm, I get
an "Illegal Instruction" message and R quits. Jan thinks it may be the case

Read.table problem
Hi !
I am new to R, and using the MAC version onto Mac OS 9.1. My question concerns
the problem I encounter when I try to read some data I have using the
read.table function. I always get an error of type : Error in scan(file =
file, what = what, sep = sep, quote = quote, dec = dec, :
line 1 did not have 9 elements
Here is my code:

Michaelson-Morley Speed of Light Data
<URL: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/library/datasets/html/morley.html >
"The classical data of Michaelson and Morley on the speed of light"
Can you provide more information about the data? How were they obtained,
etc.? I do not have the book "Genstat Primer" and the nearest location where
it is available is University of York which is rather far from my location.

Where to find: morley.data
"An Introduction to R" has a sample session in the appendix. One of the
examples looks at the Michaelson and Morley experiment to measure the
speed of light and starts with "file.show("morley.data")".
Where does one find this data table?

R sample session
Hi:
I'm trying to do the sample session listed in Appendix A
of the "Introduction to R" manual from:
http://cran.R-project.org/manuals.html
I've already downloaded R-1.5.1.tgz from:
http://cran.r-project.org/
The problem is I can't find the file "morley.tab"
which I need to start the sample session (as stated
in the manual).
Do you know where I can find it?

NetJet and RAS
Hi,
Last weekend I was planning to buy a physical PBX system, but instead I
have been blown away by the fact that VoIP really works, that Asterisk
is so easy to set up and use... and free!
We're in Australia, so as I understand it, we aren't allowed to use the
Zaptel cards. We need to set up our system to route incoming 56K data
calls to the PPP daemon on our Linux box or to our

Zaptel, Line Impedence and Echo
Hi,
I'm not sure if I just missed something somewhere along the way, but I
noticed while I was going through the CVS logs that there is an option
in the wcfxs module to set an "opermode" - which apparently might help
with echo issues around the globe (like the ones I'm seeing - some
times).
So I'd love to use it and give it a go. Apparently, there are some
options that

Latest CVS fax detection & grandstream bug
As a follow up to my previous post, I have now identified what is
causing the bug with the grandstream phones.
When the line
faxdetection=incoming is in the zapata.conf file, the grandstream
phones will not ring, nor connect a call to the zaptel interface.
Can anyone else confirm this bug? I'm going to play with the different
options (incoming/outgoing/both) to see if it makes a

morley.dat
Hi,
I am sorry to say, I do not know where the
'morley.dat' is that is mentioned as the sample data
for the sample session on page 80 of Appendix A in the
Introduction to R book.
If you could get back to me soon about that would be
great!
Then I can prepare my next question,
steve

No intercom splash tone?
Environment:
Asterisk 1.2.14, FreePBX 2.2.0, Aastra 480i IP telephones firmware
version 1.4.1.1077.
Problem:
Intercom feature: the dialed phone does not play the splash tone when
auto-answering an intercom call. Otherwise, intercom works perfectly.
Questions:
What is the extensions.conf syntax to trigger a splash tone in Asterisk
1.2.14 (from the documentation and posts I've found, it has

Serviced Office operator panel
Hi,
I'm trying to find (with some desperation now) a decent web based or application based UI that integrates with an Asterisk based PBX and is designed for a Serviced Office environment.
Key features we're looking for:
Concept of a client with multiple staff/associates
Recognition of inbound DIDs with display of company details and greeting
Support for multiple receptionists

Samba And Macintosh(netatalk)
Hello,
Anyone out there running a production network supporting PC and Macintosh
clients using samba and netatalk. we are currently using NT 4.0 with
AppleTalk-IP software. Sharing the same files with the Macs and the pc is
a must.
I read someplace that samba 2.2.2 supports Appletalk. Is this true?
Thanks,
Joe

Macintosh Speex player
Hi All,
I'm have a lot of speech files that are given from an organisation that
has a lot of audio tapes with talks on them. Many people use these

macintosh's and I don't know how to play speex files on macintosh,

changing macintosh type and creator codes
Anytime a PC on our network copies a file to our server and a macintosh
client
goes to view that file, the type and creator codes are incorrect. We are
running
Samba for Windows clients and Xinet KA-Share for Mac clients. I think it
has
something to do with the resource forks. I can copy a file to the server
from a
Mac then copy the file from the server to a windows machine and back again

Pros & Cons - Microsoft Office on Macintosh OS X
Hello Boys and Girls and Everybody.
I have recently started using a Macintosh computer to replace the dinosaur of an unbelievably unreliable PC that I have been using for the last 10 years. So far I have been very pleased. I have been using OpenOffice for quite a while now as I find it is mostly superior to Microsoft Office in many ways, HOWEVER - OpenOffice lacks the Voice Recognition Software

Macintosh + Samba integration
I have been searching through the docs and on the web to no avail.
I work at a university and we are moving our fileservers to new
hardware.
The problem is, nothing seems to integrate Mac's and Win box's happily.
We have a large user base using samba already, but when mac's pick up
the same share via CAP, CAP creates files to deal with the dual 'stream'
nature of files from a

macintosh file clutter on samba filesystems.
I have a client who has a bunch of macs accessing some samba shares, and
they write these ._filename and .DS_STORE files all over the place, he
would perfer it to not write these files at all. Anyone ran into this
issue? what would be the best way to prevent these files from getting
written onto the shares? veto?
