how to use attr?
I'm trying to build a flexible OLS/SUR/2SLS/3SLS package and I'm having
trouble getting some information out of a formula. For example....
# set up the system of equations
demand <- q ~ p + d
supply <- q ~ p + f + a
inst <- ~ d + f + a
systemeq <- list( demand, supply )
...blah, blah, blah...
# get the number if instruments...
# or build the "bigX"...

loess function takes long to estimate
Hi,
I have 2 questions regarding using loess function in stats package.
1. I have about 1 million points. I did loess with alpha=0.5 and
degree=1 and 2 regressors. It has run for more than 5 hrs on 64bit
16CPU and 64GB server (with no other process running). I am wondering
if this is usual? And if there is anyway to make it run faster?
2. I noticed a difference in RAM consumption when specifying

setgid binaries
Hi,
I''ve been thinking about group membership and the corresponding (weak)
restrictions to system resources. Consider the following:
% cat > gsh.c
main()
{
system("/bin/sh");
}
% cc -o gsh gsh.c
% id
uid=100(joe) gid=500(users) groups=14(floppy),15(sound)
% chgrp sound gsh
% chmod g+s gsh
% mail abuser

Does CentOS support dual graphics cards with 2 monitors each?
I have a user who wants to have 4 monitors attached to his CentOS 6.4 system. I know that you
can't use both on-board video and a PCI video card at the same time, but what about two PCI
video cards? The system seems to recognize them as shown by the lspci -v output below, but
I can't get Xorg to use the second card. Has anyone done this? If so, what is the trick to
get it to work?
