Installation problem on SGI IRIX6.5
Hi, all, I'm a newbie to R. I came across a problem when I tried to install R on an SGI machine which is running IRIX64 6.5. I have successfully run configure, but when I tried to run "make"(or "gmake"), errors came out. Following is the error message. Does someone has experiences in the R's installation on IRIX ? Any hints will be greatly appreciated ! Thanks in

Missing tick marks bug on alpha solved
On some systems (alpha), tick marks don't appear on plots. The easiest way to see the problem is something like: > plot(0:1,axes=FALSE) > axis(1,1:2) The problem is in X11_Line(...) from .../src/unix/devX11.c, which is so short I've included the whole function below: static void X11_Line(double x1, double y1, double x2, double y2, int coords, DevDesc *dd) {

R-alpha: line types
Responding to my own post, after some hacking: To fix the behavior of the following test code (the rect()s inherit the lty set by the previous abline())-- x _ (1:100)/10 plot(x,sin(x)) abline(h=0,lty=2,col="red") rect(1,0,2,0.5) abline(v=2) rect(3,0,4,0.5) Here are some diffs (now all I have to do is wade through and get lwd working properly ...) *** devX11.c.orig Tue Jul 29

segfault in AIX
I'm trying to build R 2.4.0 on an IBM P5-570 that's running AIX 5.3. I'm using xlc 7.0, xlc++ 7.0 and xlf 9.1 in 32 bit mode (OBJECT_MODE is 32 in the build environment). The source is the patched version of 2.4.0, downloaded yesterday. Configure options were --prefix, --srcdir, --x-includes, --x-libraries, and --without-readline. Compiler flags were -O2. The make step fails with

Autoconf / Windows package building problem for device package
Dear list, Tadashi Kadowaki has developed a pdf device package that allows to add hyperlinks and popups to (currently) text, mtext and rect calls. The package passes R CMD check (minor warnings) and compiles on MacOS X and GNU/Linux, but we do not succeed in building the package for Windows. The current version of the package can be checked out as svn checkout

There are quite a few compilation warnings from rsync-2.5.5rc1 that could be eliminated by code cleanup. gcc -I. -I. -g -O2 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -Wall -W -c main.c -o main.o main.c: In function `start_client': main.c:665: warning: unused variable `write_batch' main.c:664: warning: unused variable `whole_file' These warnings will go away when the two variables are properly bracketed

patch for textspecial and defaultfont in xfig
Hello, The current xfig device lacks the functionality to set the textspecial flag and use the defaultfont in xfig. This is necessary when you want to export to xfig and use interpreted text (e.g., $ \frac{1}{e}$ gets interpreted by latex). The attached patch adds this functionality. Why would you like to do this? - Use math in labels (e.g., name your variables $r_{xy}$, do a

subset bug?
I ran into a problem with "subset" while working at home that I am not sure is a bug or not. I defined a custom function to take a data frame of tree positions, sizes, and types (containing the columns TRT, COMP, PLOT, X, Y, DBH and CON) and wanted to make a stem map of the plot using different symbols and colors to represent the different types of tree stems. I copied a bit of the
