lm() appears to fail with large number of variables (PR# 744)
This is not a bug, only evidence that the least squares fitting procedure is
more numerically robust than I had expected.
With 11 observations you can only estimate 11 linearly independent
regression coefficients (at best). That's what you got (intercept + first
10 variables). How many did you expect to get estimates for?
In summary: no bug, lm is working as advertised.

I'm trying to read in a large matrix (800 x 800 or bigger)
and R prints an error telling me that my rows are not
all the same length. I've double checked the text file
using gawk and it tells me that they are all the same.
When I pair it down to 247 x 247, then it works, but not

error using lp function in linux
Hello all,
I would like to use the lp function (lpSolve package) on a linux system. Using sample code from the lp function help, I can solve the linear program with no errors or problems. However, when I copy the exact same code to R in linux (after loading the lpSolve package), I get the following error:

feature request: gzip support in syslinux itself
HPA,
is it possible to add GZ support in syslinux itself?
Some standalone software compresses very well, but is not compressed.
Example is the Memtest86+ binary (90KB uncompressed --> 35KB gzip'd) and maybe Smart Boot Manager (gzip'd COM32 binary instead of normal COM32 binary?).
I'm using both on a simple bootdisk, and all space savings are welcome.
a workaround could ofcourse

[PATCH] Compressed output files
Attached is a patch that implements compressing output files as they're
written to disk, uzing zlib. Thus far I've only used it with
synchronizing directories on a single machine.
What seems to work / what's done:
- Synchronizing directories with all files in the target
directory gzip'd. Files seem to contain the correct data. Use
the option "--gzip-dest".

[PATCH]: Cygwin port of 2.2.0p1
Attached is the patch for the Cygwin port of 2.2.0p1. As usual I didn't
attach the patch to `configure' but only the patch to `configure.in'.
BTW: I have attached a gzip'd version of the patch since it's size
is > 20K and I thought that it might be too big. The gzip'd diff is
< 8K.

[Bug 125] with BSM auditing, cron editing thru ssh session causes cron jobs to fail
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125
------- Additional Comments From jrj at purdue.edu 2003-01-04 06:29 -------
The following attachment updates the suggested patch to 3.5p1.
The attachment is a gzip'd tar file. Once you download it, ungzip it and then
untar it into a temp directory (or use the 'z' option of GNU tar). Then look at
the README for more information.

Decompressing raw vectors in memory
Hi all,
I'm struggling to decompress a gzip'd raw vector in memory:
content <- readBin("http://httpbin.org/gzip", "raw", 1000)
memDecompress(content, type = "gzip")
# Error in memDecompress(content, type = "gzip") :
# internal error -3 in memDecompress(2)
I'm reasonably certain that the file is correctly compressed, because
if I save it

OT: AstLinux 0.2.2 released
Hello Everyone,
I have released AstLinux 0.2.2. There are way too many improvements to
list here, but here is a short summary:
Linux 2.4.27, iptables, mini_httpd (with PHP & SSL), phpconfig,
AstShape traffic shaping, tftp server, OpenSSH, proftpd, Soekris Net4801
and Pentium-MMX and higher x86 support. There is actually WAY more
software, but I couldn't possibly list it all. It

alpha4 and zlib-plugin?
Hi,
I saw the zlib-plugin reference in the alpha4 ChangeLog
notes are searched the list for info about it. The only
reference I found was from Timo back in March 2005.
Questions:
1) Is this going to become a standard part of version 1.0?
2) Any plans or ability to make it read/write to a gzipped
mailbox, or is this possible? Or will it always be read-only?
3) How does a mailbox get gzipped?

CENTOS 6.6 NUT RPM BUILD ISSUES
That worked out just fine. What I am currently running into are conditions where I am getting the following error that I figured I would share.
Error:
libusb_get_interrupt() returned 0 instead of 8 while sending 3a 4d b2 0d 00 00 00 00 '.M......'
Conditions: upsdrvctl start via Init Script at Boottime. If I run the init script after boot, I do not receive this error.

SYSLINUX works on more than 'floppy' media
Hi folks,
I hit the syslinux homepage for the first time in a while. The stuff
just works, so there's no reason to come to the website, eh? :)
Anyway, the first line is "The SYSLINUX Project covers lightweight
bootloaders for floppy media (SYSLINUX)", and I think that this needs to
be expanded a bit. I use SYSLINUX on CompactFlash, and it works great
because together with

1.0.15 -> 2.x upgrade for mass hosting environment
Hi all,
We're looking at upgrading our current mail platform from 1.0.15 to
2.x to take advantage of the new director functionality.
Our main concern is the number of mailboxes involved (circa. 300K) and
the rebuilding of the index files, especially as it seems that once
you've upgraded, rolling back requires the deletion and recreation of
all indices.
Has anyone worked on an
