samba on NetBSD - some patches
Hi,
We (NetBSD) just received a bug report that smbclient's mput command usees
find(1) with a non-standard option "-maxdepth". This was replaced with a
simple call to ls(1). As I don't know how many of the patches from out
Packages Collection were sent to you in the past, I'm simply sending you
all our patches - please include any you like in future samba releases!

configure: error: linking to Fortran libraries from C fails
Hi all,
Nice one for a Friday afternoon ...
I'm trying to follow this section of the manual :
http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-devel/R-exts.html#Using-Undefined-Behaviour-Sanitizer
to build R-devel (as of a few hours ago: rev 66684) with

My OS is Linux Mint Debian Edition. To get gcc-4.9 I added Debian
testing to my apt sources and ran :

Solaris username character limit issues.
Hello,
I've compiled Samba 3.0.4 with Heimdal 0.6.2 and all of the other
trimmings to join and ADS tree, which I have successfully done. Winbind
correctly pulls all of the username and group information from the ADS
tree and all is good.
However...
I seem to be running into a wall with the wonderful Solaris 8 character
username / groupname limit. Usernames with spaces or names longer than

followup -- deficiencies in readline capability
Why would R lack history capability?
Someone in a private electronic mail message suggested the possibility
that I was running R in a non-writable directory. This is not the
case, as the following logfile shows (where "$ " is my shell prompt):
$ ls -ld `pwd`
drwxrwxrwx 15 sys sys 2560 Apr 30 08:10 /tmp

Puppet daemon performance problems
Recently I''ve seen people post about performance problems for the
puppetd daemon. What I see is that the daemon uses resources even
when it should be "asleep" waiting for the next scheduled run.
If you attach to a "sleeping" daemon, you''ll see it''s in a tight loop
where it''s constantly calling nanosleep() (on my Fedora linux
workstation).

I'm experiencing problems with access to one of shares on server
with Samba working as PDC for windows clients, after I upgraded
Samba from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23 (this problem also present in
3.0.23a). There are config section for this share:

get_ea_dos_attribute: Cannot get attribute from EA on file .: Error = No data available
Samba 4.12.1, single server with AD+DC on Ubuntu 18.04. Filesystem:
/dev/sdb1 on /home type ext4 (rw,relatime,stripe=32750,data=ordered)
It all work as expected, but I occasionally get the error in subject which denies access to shares. Restarting Samba will restore functionality.
What can be the cause of this problem?
Thanks.

Re: installation error
Never mind I was missing libreadline-dev
I gues this check would be good to be added with an error to the configure script since it creates error in compilation

tftpd-hpa-0.42 bug when hitting ^C
Start tftp with no host name
Enter a host name
When looking at the tftp> prompt press ^C
$ tftp

I've attached a patch fixing this issue but I'm not convinced this is the right way to do it.

Samba 3.0.20b / AIX 5.3 / VFS Modules
Has anyone successfully gotten the VFS modules to work under AIX 5.3 and
Samba 3.0.x ?
I have no problem compiling Samba 3.0.x and having it working; but when
I set up a VFS module the following occurs:

Where is the tdbsam password database file?
I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on
my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped
with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully
accessed shares. I just can't figure out where the password database
is located:
[root@box ~]# service smb start
[root@box ~]# setsebool samba_enable_home_dirs on

samba with ADS. winbindd ignore for user authentication
Hello,
I'm trying to set up samba using ADS for authentication.
I can successfully join the samba machine to the domain. Windows hosts
can "see" the samba machine.
After successfully joining, doing:
# wbinfo -u
shows me ADS-defined users. Same goes for groups.
However, when I try and assign one of those users ownership of a file, I
get:
# chown user1 /tmp/test
chown: test1:

[PATCH] fish: reset the console on ^Z RHBZ#1213844
Patch registers SIGTSTP hook where it sends reset terminal color
control sequence using write and fsync.
Handler is installed only if signal is not being ignored.
Patch uses rl_free_line_state and rl_cleanup_after_signal to unhook
readline from terminal, then it calls original TSTP handler using
approach in URL below and again hooks readline using
rl_reset_after_signal.
Handling is based on code

Samba Comple Problem on Solaris 2.8
So I am compling the newest release of samba 3.0.14a on Solaris 2.8.
I can get it to compile but I don't get all the built in modules that I
should and smbd when fired up bombs out with something like,

derek@supernova:/opt/UMsmb/sbin# ./smbd -c /etc/samba/smb.conf -i
smbd version 3.0.14a started.

Latest R-devel build failing on OS X
Readline <= 6.2 shouldn't require the SIGWINCH patch, so if older
versions have trouble finding rl_resize_terminal then you could wrap a
macro around that part.
The isearch C-c bug has existed forever, according to Chet Ramey. Yes,
I had to retrain myself to use C-g to exit isearch but it's confusing.
It would be nice to fix this C-c bug on older versions too, but my
solution used some
