Linux driver for HP Laserjet 3500 printer - yum won't install
I'm trying to install the linux driver for an HP Colour Laserjet 3500 in
CentOS 5. I've installed the kde.repo (with appropriate priorities set
up), but when I try yum install pxljr-1.1-1.i386.rpm, yum says 'nothing
to do' - is this because the priority protection won't let it install
from the kde repo?
The alternative approach seems to be to use yum localinstall with the

Samba 2.2 + CUPS driver download work for anyone?
I have tried everything I could possibly think of to get printer driver
download working with Samba 2.2.3a-6 and CUPS 1.1.15-4 (latest Debian
unstable packages). I am wondering if anyone else has go this to work at
all (with newer versions of samba or cups?) -- if so please let me know to
give me some hope. Or else I am thinking this is officially 'broken'.
CUPS is working perfectly

Printing Postscript - Very Weird Problem.
Hey folks,
okay, here's the situation - I have a Centos 4.2 system with cups printing
installed printing via postcript (with appropriate PPD file) to a HP
LaserJet 1320N printer (via jetdirect socket 9100).
Everything seems to work right - except for an unusual 'font'??? problem.
Many letters seem to be just slightly garbled. At first I thought this

Samba, print$, HP Laserjet 8500, XP
Hi,
If anyone is successfully using the HP LJ8500 driver that comes with Windows
XP in your print$ share in Samba 3.0.x, can you please mail me privately. I
understand the issues I am seeing are probably not Samba related.
In case they ARE Samba related, here is the main issue.

printer frustrations
I've got an old HP LaserJet 1018. It's a winprinter. After I bought a new
router (to go inside the Verison one), I plugged it directly into my box (ok,
via a hub). I run CentOS 6. Before we went on the trip, I could print, I
upgraded my system, and this is the first time I'm trying to print... and no joy.
I've tried sending the firmware to it via lp -o raw ... -h :9100, and

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all,
I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and
cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to
add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having
difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use.
I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot
find the PPD file... where is

cupsaddsmb - problem; once again
Hello,
I posted 2 weeks ago this problem and it is currently not working.
First thanks a lot for all the hints and helps.
In the attached file I have added (hopefully) all informations.
To summarize:
I want to setup a print server, which allows the user to
download the necessary files for new printers.
Installed are (on top of suse 7.1) samba 2.2.6_pre2 and cups 1.1.15_1.

Best Printer Setup
Hi,
I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print
server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote
printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in
RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :)
(not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff)

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a
PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile
starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to
the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating
a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

pdfs cause laserjet 4000s to hang - any workaround?
Before I start, I know this isn't a Samba-related issue but it seems to be a
widespread enough problem that someone else may have figured out a
Samba-oriented workaround, or any other solution for that matter.
There seems to be a problem with certain models of HP Laserjet (including,
but not limited, to the 4000 series and other models from the same era - it
is apparently fixed in the 4100).

Package pxljr-1.1-1.i386.rpm (from kde.repo) is not signed
I'm trying to install the driver for an HP Colour Laserjet 3500 in
CentOS 5. I've installed the kde.repo (with appropriate priorities set
up), but when I try yum install pxljr-1.1-1.i386.rpm, I get the above
message that 'the package is not signed'. I've previously tried running
yum localinstall on the downloaded package with the same result. How do
I resolve this please?

Hello
I've got some problems downloading Adobe PostScript printer drivers on a
Windows 98 client :
On the server side (Red Hat 9 / Samba 3.0.2 / Cups 1.1.17) :
I installed succesfully my printers with Cups and they work fine on Linux
I ran cupsaddsmb tool to copy the Adobe files in the [print$] directory

rpcclient returns NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE on adddriver
Hi,
samba 2.2.8a freshly compiled
cups 1.1.19final-1 (debian)
while using cupsaddsmb, all runs well until adddriver, when rpcclient
returns a cryptic NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE. I've followed the
SambaPrintHowto 3.0 from 7.11.6.1 to 7.11.6.6, and it fails on the
latest as well.
Here is some more information.

Problems adding print drivers
Hey folks.
I am trying to set up a cups/samba printer server, and I am having trouble using cupsaddsmb.
I isolated the problem to a rpcclient and here is the information I gathered from the various commands.
If I delete all the files in "/var/lib/samba/drivers" cupsaddsmb installs the folders and files, but doesn't move the files in to the WIN40/0 folder with the adddriver

Samba printing and CUPS
Well, I have a strange one again. Using samba version 2.2.5 and cups
version 1.1.15. We have 2 printers over the network, both TCP/IP-based
Jetdirect printers. on is on x.x.x.32, the other on x.x.x.38. I can print
to the laserjet on IP 32 all day long. However, both on Windows clients,
print jobs are not even seen in the que (either windows print que or CUPS
web interface). When I try to
