how to build/install pulseaudio 6.0 on centos 6.8
Hi,
Centos 6.8 comes with pulseaudio 0.9, but I want to use pulseaudio 6.0 or higher version, which is used on centso 7. How to build/install new pulseaudio on centso 6.8? Are there some dependency libs for pulseaudio? is there some rpm of pulseaudio 6.0 for centos 6.8?
Thanks

openvpn client and KDE Network Manager - with CentOS7
Hi All,
I am switching from Fedora20 to CentOS7 since I now run all my Linux
development in a VM and I get a more robust feature set (i.e. shared
folders with the host that "just work", etc)
The only issue I have thus far is VPN connections. Looking at what's
installed on my old Fedora install I suspect I need these packages:
kde-plasma-nm-vpnc
kde-plasma-nm-openvpn

Cisco PIX vpn software
Anyone got a resource on setting up a CentOS box to connect to a Cisco PIX 5xx VPN using IPSec? I don't know if it matters but an important part of functionality would be split tunneling, I need to maintain that from the windows side of functionality.
Thanks!

VPNC
What's the best bet for getting vpnc on v5.1?
Compile from cource, DAG repo, other repo?
Compiled from source I can't seem to get a response from the target.
THANKS,
Terry

VPN-Clients
There is a SonicWall Pro 2040 to which I successfully established a VPN tunnel under
Windows XP using SonicWall VPN client.
Now, I'm looking for a way to establish a VPN tunnel to the same SonicWall device under
Linux.
Installing the SonicWall VPN client under wine 0.9.27 failed ans as far as I understand
a posting of 2006 it's doubtful if this type of software will ever be installable

auto seek a server
Hi all,
When putting multiple centos 5.1 boxes on a network (DHCP for network)
and 1 centos 5.1 server
is there a way that these clients can automatically "seek" the server.
Is there something in centso 5.1 that an inquiry can be sent out that says:
Is there a "Product XYZ" on this network?
And the server - and not all the clients - can respond to this quiry.

Samba on 3.0.22 on HP-UX 11i - mon.out?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
After a long hiatus from attention to Samba, I've started to compile the
latest version (3.0.22) on HP-UX 11i for testing. I've noticed a couple
of things.
1) For some reason, on my test system, every execution of any program
that comes in the Samba suite drops "mon.out" files everyplace.
Everything I can find about this says that

VPNC article
I have put the article on the wiki at
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/vpnc
I wasn't sure where to put in the main table of contents. In the end, I
put it under security, using the FreeBSD ports as an example.
It could have also gone under Network.
As far as its actual location, as you can see from the link above, I
just put it directly under howtos.

5.2 upgrade mostly good (so far)
Hi Guys!
Thanks to the whole Centos team for all their hard work. You have no IDEA
how much I appreciate it!
I ran "yum upgrade" last night, rebooted this morning and encountered
a couple of small problems:
1. "shutdown -h now" goes all the way down but does not power down the
box like it always has before. Same when shutting down via the GUI shutdown
dialog. I can offer up

imap pop3 servers
I'm doing a complete upgrade of a server which I was using uw-imap for
the imap/pop4 daemons.(This was an old RH 7.2 system and has been
upgraded to CentOS 4.4 64bit) I notice there isn't an rpm at any of the
repositories for this. I do pop before smpt for the remote users I have
and also use procmail for calling spamc from SpamAssassin.
Is there some place I can get uw's imap or

VPN connection before login
I imagine something like Cisco AnyConnect on Windows, where you can connect before login to the machine. So afterwards user specific network shares are available and can be connect via scripts.
I have an openvpn server running.

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
Hi everybody,
I have been using Shorewall for quite a while now but I recently
stumbled over a new setup that stopped me cold. I don''t know how to
proceed:
I have an ordinary GNU/Linux box (2.6.11) connected to a nonpublic
network with one interface eth0 which gets an IP through DHCP like
172.17.x.y. Traffic is not routed to the Internet in this subnet. In
order to connect to the

chown and chgrp on 4.5 vs 5.0
I just noticed that on centso 4.5 I have an executable with the +s
(chmod +s myexe)
doing a chmod root myexe and chown root myexe does NOT affect the +s
setting.
However, on centos 5 this is not the case.
chmod +s myexe
chown root myexe or chgrp root myexe
will DROP the +s status.
How can I get around this?
I want to keep the owner, group, world settings.
Thanks,
Jerry
