Running a local mirror of centos?
Now that we have 28 centos boxes up and running, we really want to minimize the up2date traffic. Is there a how to on mirroring centos? We are using rsync -azHv --delete-excluded --delete rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/ --exclude-from=centos.excludes --bwlimit=64 --progress centos/ But then what? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -

copying to a local mirror / repository
I am using CentOS on a private network which can?t access the Internet so I want to create a local repository of packages on one or more DVDs, and get it installed on the private network. Someone had done this for CentOS 7, but not for CentOS 6. I have a VM running 6 so I am trying to create it for the previous major version. I thought there would be some obvious instructions on the

Own CentOS MirrorList
Hi Guys Apologies in advance for the noise. I am interested in setting up my OWN mirrorlist like http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=7&arch=x86_64&repo=os&infra=stock where it pulls a few local mirrors, but mine would be statically set with 3 or 4 different location URL's Basically my plan here is, if the closest mirror I operate cannot be reached, it will try another

Starting a Local CentOS Mirror
Hi all, I would like to set up a local CentOS mirror, as suggested by others on this list, to cut down on bandwidth usage, etc. I have read a couple HowTos and it seems pretty straight-forward, but I do have some questions. 1) How should I change my entries in /etc/yum.repos.d? Specifically, should I replace CentOS-Base.repo with my own .repo file? 2) Is there a way to configure yum to prefer

rsync files from Windows 2000 to Solaris 8
Hi, I was able to rsync files from Windows 2000 to Solaris 8 but when I opened the text files with vi on solaris, a '^M' char was appended to each line of the files. My question is how to get rid of that '^M' when rsync'ing ? I suspect this is because Windows and Unix treat line feed/carriage return differently, but I just do not want that '^M' shown in the files after

Can files be changed to hard links?
I have an rsync cron script that copies one entire hard drive containing hard links to another drive. It does this by selecting the directories to be rsync'ed and copying them one by one. My rsync line is: rsync -uav source/ target and the problem is this would not copy hard links. If I change the rsync line to: rsync uaHv --delete source/ target will the files copied using the original

(not fully tested yet) In attempts to install Exchange 2010 we have had many stumbling blocks. Has anyone successfully installed and can share what preparatory steps they took?
