New tutorial added!
Hey guys, It''s been awhile, but I''ve put up a new tutorial page on Wx::Frame. It''s the first half of the tutorial on Frame, the rest will come a little later. Let me know what you guys think. Any comments or criticisms are welcome. Let me know what was good and what could have been better, so that future tutorials will be able to incorporate those improvements.

I can't get the sip to work. I am getting so frunstrated. It seems that this should be so easy to do. My XP has no settings to forward the RTP ports. How is this suppose to work. They describe it all over the internet that it will work, but I need the exact details. I have spent way to much time for what I have (nothing). Please help

Re: win32-service ideas
Park, Shashank, It turns out I was doing something stupid with regards to Dir.chdir in testing, which appears to be the reason it was failing. It seems to work now. Hooray! Shashank, I''ll take a look at your errors and see if I can nail them down. The RPC message is one that I got from time to time, but from what I can tell, it''s bogus or a system config/permissions

Silly question.
After tinkering with tinc for a while I was able to get two Windows XP to connect with each other. ("tincd -d" is your friend) ;-) http://tinc.nl.linux.org/examples/windows-install makes no mention of installing cygwin It makes no mention of installing zlib, LZO, or OpenSSL. Some older documentation/examples I found does. Everything seems to be working. :-) tinc.conf contains

No subject
Dear friends. In Carlin and Louis "Bayes and emperical Bayes methods.." 1996 the classical example of 12 independent tosses of a fair coin producing 9 heads and 3 tails is given. If the situation is seen as a fixed sample of 12, a binomial lieklihood is used, and Carlin et al reports a probability of 0.075. Using sum(dbinom(9:12,12,.5)) I obtain 0.073 Likewise, if the experiment is

Added a Tutorial to the wiki!
Hey everybody, I just added a tutorial page to the wiki, and created a brief introductory tutorial to get a new user going. I plan to add more tutorials on basics and more advanced coding as time permits. Take a look if you get a chance, and give me feedback. You can access the tutorial page under the Latest News section, or through Introduction to wxRuby under Starting Points.

2gig limit
I'm running into a 2gig file limit when copying files from a linux machine running smbmount 3.0.2a-Debian and kernel 2.4.23 connecting to another debian machine running smbd 3.0.2a-Debian with the stock 2.4.18-bf2.4 kernel that comes with debian stable (though the machine has been upgraded to sid). If I run this on the client side dd if=/dev/zero of=test.junk bs=1k it eventually fails at

Handling Events that don''t take an ID
Hey Kevin, Am I correct in assuming that if I want a particular widget to respond to an event which doesn''t take an ID as an argument (like evt_size or evt_left_down), that I have to inherit a new widget and define the event handler within the inherited class? Here''s a little contrived code example to illustrate what I mean: class MyCtrl < Wx::TextCtrl def

Ackbar - ActiveRecord Adapter for KirbyBase
= About Ackbar Ackbar is an adapter for ActiveRecord (the Rails ORM layer) to the KirbyBase pure-ruby plain-text DBMS. Because KirbyBase does not support SQL, joins or transactions, this is not a 100% fit. There are some changes to the ActiveRecord interface (see below), but it may still be useful in some cases. = URIs Ackbar: http://ackbar.rubyforge.org KirbyBase:

win32-mmap followup
Oops - just realized that there aren''t accessors for namespace, swapfile, size, etc. Should we add them? Or don''t we want to because then it might become confusing as to whether those values were "shared"? [Newbie] The pickaxe book and benchmark
Hello, I was reading the pickaxe book and then I arrived to the chapter "When trouble strikes" in the Benchmark section. I have this code: #!/usr/bin/ruby -w require ''benchmark'' include Benchmark LOOP_COUNT = 1_000_000 bm(12) do |test| test.report("normal:") do LOOP_COUNT.times do |x| y = x +1 end end
