MDI interface with sidepanel
Hi
Just started with WxRuby after using Fox. Very impressed by the easy
binary install and I''m already liking the native look and feel on MSW.
Thanks!
I''m trying to create an app with a MDI Parent Frame and a full-height
(docked) side panel with various controls in it. The MDIParentFrame
doesn''t work properly if I put it inside another frame with a sizer, so

app state persistence. text size
hi
I''ve got an MDI-based app, and when it''s restarted i''d like it to
remember the contents and state (eg line pos in a TextCtrl) of the MDI
Children. Any tips on how to easily marshal this sort of thing?
Also, the default text size for the contents of controls (ComboBox, Text
etc) is quite small on my monitor (MSWIN) - any suggestions on how to
adjust this in a

MDI and submenues
Hello wxruby-users,
Kevin, thanks for fast addition of the support of MDI and submenues!
I''ve tested it under WinXP and all works very well. There is a test
example at the end of the message.

installing from src on OS X
Hi
I''ve built WxWidgets (2.5.4) and wxruby-swig (CVS) from source on OS X
(.3). I''ve got something called wx.bundle in lib/ that looks the right
sort of size - 2.5MB - but I don''t know what to do with it to install it
- no rake install or make install?
btw - wx on OS X looks fantastic, esp after seeing a Tk interface inside
Aqua this am ...
cheers

MDI
Hello,
I want to use wxruby in my application, but this should be MDI application.
Kevin, could you add MDIParentFrame, MDIClientWindow and MDIChildFrame
in wxruby-0.3, please?

*OUTPUT/*INPUT typemaps
Hi
Have been looking again at SWIG output pointer parameters, as:
http://www.swig.org/Doc1.3/Ruby.html#Ruby_nn32
The problem is, whenever I tried to include the SWIG/Ruby ''typemaps.i''
file, it threw loads of errors.
A bit more investigation pinned the problem down to some secondary files
that typemaps.i includes to map ''special'' types like File.
So I tried

Patch to wxMDIParentFrame.h
This patch file will allow the MDI example to run. We''ll need to
revisit it later. There''s still a crash but it''s the same crash as from
the scrolled window example. I''ll send a patch later that fixes the
problem with DrawLines.

wxruby gems
Hi
Following on from some talk last year of creating gems for wxruby, I''ve
attached a first try at them (for 0.6.0, not wxruby-swig). I mainly made
them because I want to ease installation of Weft QDA by adding wxruby
(and sqlite) as gem dependencies, but hopefully they will be generally
useful.
A couple of queries:
1) Who should be listed as author?
2) It doesn''t include

Wx::SystemSettings mark II
hi
patches and files for Wx::SystemSettings, with get_font included in swig
file and a sample that doesn''t segfault wxruby.
CVS patches: RubyConstants.i, type_map.i
CVS new: system_settings.rb (sample) SystemSettings.i (SWIG file)
The sample should allow you to view the available information about
system colours, fonts and metrics (eg cursor size, display size) in a Grid.

Wx::SystemSettings
Hi all
Please find attached files to implement (much of) Wx::SystemSettings for
wxruby2. I really just wanted to be able to get screen width and screen
height, but there''s lots of other stuff there too; the sample file
provides a listing of what''s avaiable, with descriptions. With this email
* patch to typemap.i
* patch to RubyConstants.i
* new SystemSettings.i file for

Making it easier to contribute wxRuby-SWIG code
After seeing contributions from Dmitry and Alex, I''m wondering how we
can better organize and encourage user contributions.
ORGANIZING
Maybe identifying what is still missing in wxRuby-SWIG and publishing a
prioritized todo list could useful to contributors.
GETTING NOTICED
It might be useful to post a link to the unassigned todo list each month
to comp.lang.ruby and ask for

*INPUT/*OUTPUT params patches
Hi
The attached patches enable the use of SWIG''s *INPUT *OUTPUT and *INOUT
typemaps as described in the manual. It''s done by including SWIG''s own
''typemaps.i'' file so it''ll allow us to benefit from future upgrades to that.
The problem was a collision between a Ruby macro _ (fixing for old
compilers) and a WxWidgets macro _ (for text

Wxruby2 gemspec
Hi
A gemspec for installation of wxuby-swig via rubygems. It assumes the
end-users will compile the pre-swigged .cpp files & that that the main
require file will be wx.rb (as per Kevin''s suggestion). runrake.rb is
just a helper script that runs rake correctly within the rubygems
installation process.

gem build wxruby2.gemspec

Scintilla
Hi
I''ve been trying out the StyledTextCtrl/Scintilla component bundled with
wxWidgets 2.8. Surprisingly, it''s very easy to get this working at a
basic level with wxRuby (95% of credit to Roy, who originally created a
SWIG file for this).
So I''m wondering: should we try and integrate this into wxRuby core?
Pros:
- a cool component, interesting to developers
- not

Wx::Window#get_text_extent patch
Here''s a patch to fix Wx::Window#get_text_extent - it requires that the
patches from teh last message are applied, to enable *INPUT etc typemaps.
Roy - though the function works correctly when called from Ruby, it
still causes a crash when called internally when clicking on a Wx::Grid
cell. Saw your message on SWIG mailing list, hopefully someone there can
help out.

First drop of new memory management
Hi
Just a quick update on memory leaks etc. I''ve just dropped a bunch of
patches with a new approach to linking ruby''s GC to Wx''s memory
handling. Still some work to do - eg bigdemo.rb falls over quite quickly
- but working well for me on other samples.
Briefly, it disposes of fixdeleting. For almost all objects that aren''t
Windows, they should now be
