compile fix for wx2.6
building on ubuntu with wx2.6 gives only one error:
an argument type has changed from long to wxBitmapType in a
constructor of the wxIcon class.
These changes were needed to fix the build.
This brings up the question what is the status of the
swig/classes/include files which were generated using the xml extract
script which is no longer available in CVS.
Should that script be rerun using wx2.6

wxSizerItem show() method
It appears from the wx 2.8.7 documentation that a wxSizerItem has a show()
method. But when I try to invoke it through wxruby, I get:
tasks.rb:56:in `do_btn3'': undefined method `show'' for
#<SWIG::TYPE_p_wxSizerItem:0xb5eedf44> (NoMethodError)
Is this just something that hasn''t been added because people don''t
manipulate wxSizerItems much, or is it

patch for Icon
I just checked out a fresh copy and had to tweak wxIcon.h to get it to
compile on Mac OS X and windows. The problem is with:
wxIcon(const wxString& filename,
wxBitmapType type = wxBITMAP_TYPE_XPM,
int desiredWidth=-1, int desiredHeight=-1);
that signature is only used on GTK on other systems it is:

Building wxruby-swig for Mac
0.0.5 sure gets the Mac build a lot further.
There''s a bug in the wxMac-2.4.2 distribution that I''m running into:
wx-config wants to invoke a program in the source directory at link
time. That''s ugly in itself, but it tries to use a variable
${top_srcdir} to accomplish this, and it''s apparently empty. It tries

1.9.3 release, rakefile
Hi
I''d like to put out a 1.9.3 release perhaps later this week/weekend. If
you have a chance to test the build and samples esp with latest
rubygems, please do.
There are still some bugs on the list, and samples to do, but this
should address all the build/install probs that have come up. And it
would be good to get some testing and feedback on some of the new classes.

Choosing a Sizer
Following alex advices, i''ve used both "text/textctrl.rb" and
"etc/threaded.rb" to build my first wxApp.
I''ve changed the Sizer type mainly (from "Wx::BoxSizer" to
"Wx::FlexGridSizer").
I didn''t find the way to let @log (Wx::TextCtrl) span 2 columns. At the time
of writing it''s growing only vertically.

FlexGridSizer question

I am trying to understand how FlexGridSizer works and I have written a small
test application using the latest wxRuby 0.4.0 on Win XP (Home).
I cannot get static text ''Week'', ''Day'' and ''Date'' line up above the OK button.
I have tried all combinations of ALIGN flags, but I either got the text sticking

This is a proposal for supporting keyword arguments to Sizer#add
following the thread below :

After a deeper look at lib/wx/keyword_ctors.rb and
lib/wx/keyword_defs.rb, I understood the whole thing :-).
I just reused and modified slightly the method args_as_list.
The new Sizer#add_item combines the features of add
