Handling Events that don''t take an ID
Hey Kevin,
Am I correct in assuming that if I want a particular widget to respond to an
event which doesn''t take an ID as an argument (like evt_size or
evt_left_down), that I have to inherit a new widget and define the event
handler within the inherited class? Here''s a little contrived code example
to illustrate what I mean:
class MyCtrl < Wx::TextCtrl

Event listeners
Hi!
Your plugin is really great! Thanks.
One more little question.
Is it possible to add event listeners to the maps via your plugin?

Rails AJAX helpers or DIY
I''ve used script.aculo.us before (pre-Rails) to do JS effects like
having a menu link that when clicked shows a sub menu, that kind of
thing.
Now I want to do something very similar but in Rails. Basically I have a
list of summaries displayed in a view. I want to have a link that when
pressed shows the detail.
To do this I would normally have each summary in a DIV, the ID of each

Window#paint patch
Attached is a patch and some extra files to fix our
ObjectPreviouslyDeleted crasher with the paint method. As discussed, it
just re-implements the method in Ruby.
I created a directory lib/wx/classes as a place to hold Ruby extensions
to the API. The attached app.rb and window.rb files should be added to
it. When this patch is applied, files in that directory are
automatically required on

Running code after a modal dialog is shown
Hi all,
I''m looking for a way to get a block of code to execute once a modal
dialog has been displayed (via a call to show_modal.) I was hoping to
find some event that would fire when the window was shown, but the only
one that seemed vaguely promising (evt_window_create) seems to do nothing
at all, at least in my environment (Ruby 1.9.1 on Win32, wxruby 2.0.1.)
Here''s a

Gauge Problem with XRC?
Hi
I''ve just started using wxruby2-preview-0.0.36-i386-mswin32
outsourcing layout part to the external XRC file. Almost everything
seems to be fine. Only that I can never retrieve Gauge objects in the
main script. What I''ve been trying is something like this:
class MainFrame < Wx::Frame
include Wx
def initialize(parent)
super(nil,-1, "")

Major Breakthrough?
Attached are patches to make the textctrl.rb sample work fully. Note
the new %directorargout typemap I added to fix wxWindows calling into
SWIG. I don''t know if this can fix all such problems or not. Let me
know what you think.
I also rubified the sample a little bit more. Also, note that I fix the
<< operator so the function can be called. I hope I did this right.

FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server dispatch.fcgi aborted
I just did a "gem update" on my server updating to the latest version.
After this none of my scripts work.
In apache error log I get:
FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server
"/home/user/public_html/dispatch.fcgi" aborted: (first read) idle
timeout (30 sec)
My only guess is that the problem is related to the fastCGI binding but
I have no idea what to look for. I

Comm Ports
How do you go about configuring comm ports in Wine? I have a usb to serial adapter that is using ttyUSB1 under linux. The program I want to use under wine shows only the standard Windows comm ports; i.e, com1, com2, etc. How can I redirect those to ttyUSB1?

mge-utalk ESV8+ comm problem
Dear Sirs,
I have an old but very well-working UPS MGE Pulsar ESV8+ Rack. I'd like
to use it to power FreeBSD 9.0-Rel server.
Of fortunately I have problem with recommended driver - mge-utalk, nut
2.6.4 (installed from FreeBSD Ports).
I get messages:
Could not get multiplier table: using raw readings.
and

npRmpi trouble - mpi.comm.spawn causes segfault
Dear all,
I have a large dataset of randomly generated weighed sample for which I
wish to compute a kernel density estimate.
I have used the "np" package successfully for smaller datasets, however
for the larger ones, they take too long when
using the cross validation options for bandwidth selection ("cv.ls" or
"cv.ml"). Of course, they are much quicker with

How do I resolve comm issues
Hi,
I'm running into an issue while using FreeBSD 5.4, NUT from

The ups.conf is :

Vocera Comm Badges
Hi,
has someone ever got their hands on the Comm Badges from Vocera ( http://www.vocera.com/ ) and knows if they use anything standard and could work with asterisk, or does someone know an alternative to their really small, light devices?
Regards,
Andreas

Problems with serial comm
Hi!
I'm new to this list as well to Wine, so please excuse me if I'm asking a FAQ.
Today I installed wine-20011108, especially to be able to run programs I need
for my work.
One of them is a remote front panel to the measuring instrument, which
communicates with it using a modem connection.
This program cannot establish a connection. It accesses the modem, its LEDs
blink, but no
