Major Breakthrough?
Attached are patches to make the textctrl.rb sample work fully. Note the new %directorargout typemap I added to fix wxWindows calling into SWIG. I don''t know if this can fix all such problems or not. Let me know what you think. I also rubified the sample a little bit more. Also, note that I fix the << operator so the function can be called. I hope I did this right. Roy

Patch to wxWindow.h
This patch fixes background color problems (at least on Windows). It uses the dreaded ''FIXME'' My plan for next weekend is to try building wxPython from the source to see how they manage to achieve several things with SWIG that we''re not (yet) able to. If I''m successful it might lead to wrapping a significant portion of wxWidgets more correctly than

problem with TextCtrl#get_insertion_point
I''m trying to un-ignore TextCtrl#get_selection. The typemaps work fine, but in the process it breaks get_insertion_point. This is because (on Mac, tho not GTK), get_insertion_point calls get_selection internally and simply returns the first value. I think the return value is being converted from a long to a ruby int twice, because when get_selection is wrapped, it works fine but the

added Choicebook
Here are the new files in a zip and the patches to existing. Also added Listbook values to parents.rb that I forgot when adding that. Sean _______________________________________________ wxruby-users mailing list wxruby-users@rubyforge.org http://rubyforge.org/mailman/listinfo/wxruby-users

NotebookSizer? / Resizing a listbook
There seems to be a NotebookSizer in C++ wxWidgets, is it in wxRuby or is it going to be? Not a lot of info to be found about that one. I''ve been trying to apply sizers to a Listbook but nothing goes at it should be. Nothing is visible until I resize the top frame a little and in best case I can get either horizontal grow but not simultaneous vertical grow. Would anyone mind showing me

Patch and files to add Listbook
I added the Listbook class (basically the same as the Notebook class with some name changes). I also took the time to write a sample that uses it. The sample interface uses XRC and is slightly more advanced than the current XRC sample. Sean _______________________________________________ wxruby-users mailing list wxruby-users@rubyforge.org

Listbook patch
Small patch to correct spelling of lemonade. Should ask Sean if he really wanted it to be lemonaid. If not, here''s the patch. On another note... This sample works! Kudos. It is odd that the textbox doesn''t scroll. I suppose I may patch that, too. Roy _______________________________________________ wxruby-users mailing list wxruby-users@rubyforge.org

error_message_on broken?
Hi, in my app, using the error_message_on form helper like this: <label for="user_name">User name:</label> <%= error_message_on ''user'', :name %> <%= f.text_field :name %> generates the following error: undefined method `errors'' for :user:Symbol I am using edge revision 5813 and the simply_helpful plugin. Is there a way to fix this?

Overloading error_message_on method in ActiveRecordHelper
Hello all I would like to overload the error_message_on method in the ActiveRecordHelper module in order to emit a span tag instead of a div tag. I try to achieve this by way of plugins: Under vendor/plugins I''ve made a error_messages_on_fix directory, containing init.rb like this: --- require ''active_record_helper_fix'' --- ..and a lib directory with

update on samples
Hi all Have been taking a look at the samples to see what''s broken. Not looking TOO bad overall, but a few problems we should try and tackle before alpha: Firstly, I have a few commits (minimal, dialogs, unicode) - anyone else been working on these or can I go ahead? One general issue is that many of the samples rely on being run from their own directory, but don''t enforce

Latest tarball doesn''t compile
1) SetScrollRange and SetScroll page in wxWindow.h is apparently only defined for ''microwindows''. No idea what that is but it''s not Windows. I replaced the #if !__WXGTK__ with #if __WXMICROWIN__ See patched wxWindow.h file. 2) wxIcon does not (on windows at least) descend from wxBitmap. I don''t have the gtk or mac headers to compare against.

XRC Problem
Hello All, I''ve looked back through the wxruby-users archive, and found someone else was having the same problem when it comes to Accessing XRC and getting a GTK Error about GtkPizza. I don''t know what the problem is, as what I''m using, is wxGlade to develop my user interface, and it creates all the controls in what looks like it should be fine, but it''s

XRC Tool
Hi Attached is a rough draft of a tool that parses XRC files and creates skeleton ruby class files from them. ruby xrc-tool.rb my_frame.xrc > my_frame.rb At the moment it only deals with Frame/Dialog/Panel subclasses, for which it creates a constructor that loads from the XML, and binds the named controls in the XML to ruby variables and accessors. THe idea is that this would make

First drop of new memory management
Hi Just a quick update on memory leaks etc. I''ve just dropped a bunch of patches with a new approach to linking ruby''s GC to Wx''s memory handling. Still some work to do - eg bigdemo.rb falls over quite quickly - but working well for me on other samples. Briefly, it disposes of fixdeleting. For almost all objects that aren''t Windows, they should now be

Wx::TextCtrl and wxMSW
Hey Alex, Found a solution to the problem that was occuring with wxMSW and the Wx::TextCtrl, have yet to verify that this will work in linux, but my little trick to the matter, was simple, thanks to the things that are provided with both Wx::TextCtrl, and Wx::Window classes. I''m providing this bit of information for thoes who may have trouble with dealing with Wx::TextCtrl, _AND_ have
