compile fix for wx2.6
building on ubuntu with wx2.6 gives only one error:
an argument type has changed from long to wxBitmapType in a
constructor of the wxIcon class.
These changes were needed to fix the build.
This brings up the question what is the status of the
swig/classes/include files which were generated using the xml extract
script which is no longer available in CVS.
Should that script be rerun using wx2.6

build problems
I am running on a redhat linux box. I could not use the binary package
because I do not have libXinerama, and installing it is a nightmare of
dependencies (and I am not root, so I can''t use the package manager).
So I am trying to install from source. I installed wxGTK-2.8.7. I
downloaded wxruby-1.9.2, and issued "rake", and got:
rake aborted!

Hello Everyone
I have a bit of a problem with installation. I installed wxX11 in my
linux box. I compiled the demos and all the demos, save dbbrowse,
work. I think I have a functional wx. Now I''m trying to install wxRuby
from source, since I have a 64 bit machine. I only have permission to
my home directory so my installation is :
/usr/people/stevenq/Applications/wxX11/

Since nobody replied and expressed desire to take over README.mingw32, I
wrote short instructions how to build wxruby with MinGW compiler in MSYS
environment.
Considering that wxruby can be of interest to some Ruby users not so

Whoo Hoo! I got a working Windows Build of wxRuby
I finally got a working native windows build of wxRuby (using a static build
of wxWindows so everything is in a single dll -- wxruby.so)!
Two things contributed to my success: 1) building wxWindows with the vc++
makefiles (instead of the vc++ projects), and 2) very careful attention to
compiler/linker flags specified in extconf.rb.
Kevin, I had to modify app.cpp, depend, extconf.rb, and wx.h. I

Rubyfication of wxWindows
As I posted to the list, at some point after we''ve fixed all the gaping
huge holes we''ll begin plastering over the rougher spots in wxRuby2. I
was giving some thoughts to predicate methods, of which there are quite
a few in wxWindows. My question is, how far from the wxWindows
documentation do we want to move? Do we want to have aliases for all
renamed methods?
