Great work on wxRuby2
I''m impressed by the latest release of wxRuby2! Thanks to all the developers who worked on making this possible. It''s great to have wxWidgets working with Ruby - and the new sample programs are a tremendous help. There is a 700+ page book on wxWidgets - Cross-Platform GUI Programming with

build problems, part III, and runtime problems, part I
After decoding the unresolved symbols from wxruby2.so using c++filt, and comparing with the symbols provided by wxGTK, it became clear that wxGTK was using wchar_t whereas wxruby2.so was using char. So I rebuilt wxGTK, turning off unicode. That worked. No more unresolved symbols. What gives? Should the wxruby code have been built using wchar_t, and if so, how? However, now I get the

"Samba-3 by Example" now available
Hi All, Thanks to everyone who has written wanting more information on when "Samba-3 by Example" by John Terpstra will be available. The good news is that it is available right now through your local bookstore or online sites like Amazon.com. There are already a couple of very positive comments posted to Amazon. These indicate that if you want to get Samba-3 up and running, you'll

dragdrop.js: drop from sortable
I have a Sortable that''s working like a charm, but now I would like to be able to drop objects from that Sortable onto a Droppable that''s not part of my Sortable. I just did a small test page where it didn''t work, so my first question has to be "is this supposed to work?", before I dig too deep into it. "accept" for the droppable is set to the

gem version numbering
Hi all, I am concerned about the version number for our gem. Currently, we have it set to 1.9, indicating that it is "before the upcoming 2.0 release". However, there is nothing in the version number that indicates this is a "preview" "alpha" "buggy" release. The gem version numbering scheme does not allow things like 2.0-pre. It also requires each public

Building wxruby on Solaris 9
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.1 Solaris 9 wxwindows 2.4.2 (package from blastwave.org) wxruby 0.3.0 I''m having trouble getting this sucker to build on my Solaris box. Here''s how I''m building: ruby extconf.rb --with-xrc-dir=/opt/csw --with-xrc-include=/opt/csw/lib/wx The include directive I added because the setup.h file is there (for whatever reason). And yes, /opt/csw/bin and

Pointer position on keypress event?
Hi. Is there any straightforward way to tell pointer position (x, y) upon keypress? In original wxWidgets, wxKeyEvent supports GetX() and GetY() methods, but wxRuby''s KeyEvent object does not have one. I also checked with event.methods and event.instance_variables. Do I need to keep track of pointer position by evt_motion? -- Taisuke Yamada <tyamadajp@spam.rakugaki.org>,

Status
I''ve been looking in on WxRuby occasionally to see if it''s ready foruse, because I like some of the precepts, esp. native widgets. Finally I decided to ask. How close is it to being easily installable on the three majorplatforms? deb or rpm on linux, binary installers on windows and osx.It has to be that easy for people to want to distribute applicationsto end users that use this

wxruby.so error with weft-qda
Dear wxruby users I''ve been trying to get wxruby-based weft-qda 0.9.6 running on a linux from scratch 6.1 system (this list had a discussion about weft-qda last year and alex fenton''s also been trying to help me out - no luck so far). I get stuck with wxruby 0.60 (I think). I compiled wxruby against wxGTK 2.4.2 (without gtk2, without unicode - gtk+ version is 1.2.10) - after

wxRuby-0.6.0, wxRuby2, SWIG and....
Hi, my first post here so a little background first... I started out using wxRuby-0.6.0 about 4 months ago while trying to get a grip on Ruby as a means of writing a little budgetting app I''ve been meaning to write for a couple of years. As I didn''t like the way that the wxruby examples are coded (having to punch the individual C++ api methods that way isn''t nice) I

I have created a canned response called ''wxRuby 0.6.0 Cleanup'' and will now go and mark as closed all open 0.6.0 messages. If you strongly disagree with this, they can always be re-opened. The text of the message is: Requests for support for wxRuby 0.6.0 have been closed so that we may focus on wxRuby2. No further work will be performed on wxRuby 0.6.0. Please download

evt_scrollwin_thumbtrack/GetPosition?
I am attempting to create a scrollable panel. This works fine for using the scroll arrows, as I am capturing the event and then incrementing the scroll pos by the desired amount. However, it is not working on thumbtracking. I capture the event successfully, but I am unable to capture the position of the thumb tracker. I have looked at the poor man''s doc and have been unable to figure
