Patch for wxRuby2
Ok so I made a lot of changes and the controls sample works pretty good now.
What I changed or added:
- Got all my modifications meshed into wxRuby2.
- Added constructors to wxIcon.h
- Changed Xrc.i to XmlResource.i and changed wxXrc to wxXmlResource
within the file.
I also had to change Xrc to XmlResource in rakewx.rb.
- For backwards compatability with wxRuby 0.6 I added the subclass methods

fixmodule patches
These patches (should) give us support for compiling against Ruby 1.9.

new crasher on bigdemo
Hi
Seems that the last round of commits makes bigdemo crash fairly quickly.
Guessing it''s something to do with either the Window or fixmodule change.
Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory.

SWIG exceptions
I was trying to fix the problem with wxImage and the char */unsigned
char * thing today and I was going to hand-write the functions to
translate between the two. While doing so I decided I''d clean up the
SWIG error message to make it more clear. Here''s an example
SWIG-generated argument error:

rakewx
With the recent check-in I accidentally committed my change to rakewx to
remove the -fvirtual swig option. -fvirtual is incompatible with SWIG
1.3.30. It''s not necessary (as I recall) for 1.3.29 but only reduces
the size of the wrapper code slightly. If anyone feels strongly about
this I can make it conditional on the SWIG version but simply removing
it seems the safest and

embedding wxruby?
Hello,
is it possible to code a wxWidgets GUI in C++ and pass the whole wxApp or just single windows to embedded Ruby code? This would be very nice to provide a scriptable plugin system.
Greetings,
Niklas

error compiling wxruby2
I''m just starting to try out wxruby. I downloaded the CVS and executed

Update on SWIG
SWIG 1.3.29 isn''t going to cut it for us. We''ll have to wait until
1.3.30, unless I can hack together a nasty workaround for a problem with
the object tracking. It seem that each SWIG module gets its own hash
for tracking objects. This means that, for example, you create a find
dialog (in FindReplaceDialog.cpp) events you get from it (from
FindDialogEvent.cpp)

SWIG compilation
The result of the compilation after installing swig results in lots of
errors of the sort:
WindowDisabler.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol
_SWIG_Ruby_ConvertPtr
I can see this is defined in rubydef.swg but I''m not sure why this isn''t
just included in the files that need it. Can any swig experts tell me
what I need to do to progress? I''m using

MSW segfaults II
Hi
Think I tracked down why Windows suddenly went horrible crashy - the
newest SWIG release generates slightly different code for object
tracking, so our fixmodule.rb wasn''t picking up the broken line, so we
got a nasty regression.
Anyway, the patch (SVN:862) gives me a major improvement in stability
Windows. Please could you let me know how SVN HEAD is working for you;

Patch for Swig 1.3.29
Attached is a patch for Swig that at least allows us to link the
library. I am experiencing a number of bugs that will need to be
tracked down and squashed. I haven''t even had time to look at the
newer Swig features yet.

Hello Everyone
I have a bit of a problem with installation. I installed wxX11 in my
linux box. I compiled the demos and all the demos, save dbbrowse,
work. I think I have a functional wx. Now I''m trying to install wxRuby
from source, since I have a 64 bit machine. I only have permission to
my home directory so my installation is :

Scintilla
wxScintilla already comes with a SWIG friendly header file. I modified
the rakewx and the Scintilla.i file to include it directly from the
wxScintilla install. This means it''s an odd-ball compared to our other
classes. Does anyone see a problem with this? I think it''s best to use
the one supplied with the installation to avoid problems of the header
file getting out of

building wxruby2 from cvs (gentoo)
Hello,
I am a newbie to wx and wxruby, I just built wxruby2 on my gentoo box.
At first it did not work. So I post a little message,it might help others.
At first a cryptic message was shown

Anyone on the list have some pointers for getting swig working properly
on Windows? Anytime I reswig a file it breaks wx.cpp. I''m sure I''ve
got a setup problem but I haven''t been able to put my finger on it yet.

wxruby2 retooling
I finally gave up on swig 1.3.22, since it seems to be causing too many
problems. Ubuntu breezy will have 1.3.24, so I''m retargeting wxruby2 to
swig 1.3.24+. At the moment, I have 1.3.25 on my system, since that''s
the current release.
I''m finding all kinds of problems with the post-processors we have that
clean up the .cpp files that swig creates. The

Summer of Code for wxRuby?
Hi all,
You''ve probably heard of Google''s Summer of Code. As this year Ruby
Central is registered as a mentoring organisation, it is possible to do
Ruby projects or work on existing ones, for example wxRuby :).
I would be interested to work on wxRuby as a student. So, my question
is, are there tasks that need to be done and would be suitable for a
Summer of Code project? If

*OUTPUT/*INPUT typemaps
Hi
Have been looking again at SWIG output pointer parameters, as:
http://www.swig.org/Doc1.3/Ruby.html#Ruby_nn32
The problem is, whenever I tried to include the SWIG/Ruby ''typemaps.i''
file, it threw loads of errors.
A bit more investigation pinned the problem down to some secondary files
that typemaps.i includes to map ''special'' types like File.
So I tried
