booklet on using R for time series analysis
Dear all,
I've written a small booklet on using R for time series analysis,
available here :

It is just a little booklet for beginners like myself (I am studying
Stats, and mostly wrote it to help myself study and understand this
material), but thought it

I was wondering if there are any equivalents to flash/silverlight or
flex (would ajax be an equivalent?) for ROR? for creating RIAs?

Style guide when using "R" in a title
Hello,
I am working on a small booklet to be used with an existing statistics textbook. The purpose of the booklet is to give worked through examples from the textbook using R code and it will be made publicly available with the textbook. The title of the booklet is "R Code Supplement for Basic Engineering Data Collection and Analysis by Vardeman and Jobe". Someone with whom I'm

Well, I tend to disagree.
He did not say he'd want to use the R logo
and there is really nobody saying that "you should".
Using the letter 'R' as are regular word (noun) in a title is
perfectly fine.

Pretec Allegro does not appear to play Oggs
Can I change the wiki? The box claims it plays oggs, the tech. specs. in
the booklet claims it plays oggs, *some* places on the website claims it
supports oggs, but it doesn't actually play my oggs. Can I move it to a
"misadvertised" section, or a "rumours" section, or what can I do to
indicate this to other people, so they don't accidentaly buy it?

FOSDEM16: Graphics DevRoom: call for speakers.
Hi,
At FOSDEM on sunday 31st of january 2016, there will be another graphics
DevRoom. URL: https://fosdem.org/2016/
At first, I wanted to skip another year (like in 2011), as speaker
turn-out was disgracefully low last year. But when i heard from some
usual speaker suspects earlier this month (the first time anyone asked
me about a FOSDEM16 devroom btw), followed by the fact that the devroom

Howdy,
I'm trying to see my Samba shares from my Linux box on my WinNT machine. I
can see the Linux box in the Network Neighborhod, but clicking on it just
gets the old "remote computer not available". I've got RedHat 6.0 on the
Linux box. I can ping the Linux box, I can FTP/Telnet to it, and it's my
email server and I have no probl

wanted to say that everyone here does a great job of helping each other

I just wanted to let everyone know that I''m working on an online booklet

Query on unswitching + vectorization
* Looks like some sort of pass ordering issue; it will vectorize if indvars runs sometime between loop unswitch and the vectorizer.
That insight is helpful. I scheduled Canonicalization of induction variable before loop vectorization and could get the loop vectorized.
The indvars are heavily dependent on SCEV. If there a scalar like tmp which is of real type, we may not be able to get the

Transfer function observed vs predicted values graph problem
Hi,
I am trying to make a palaeoenvironmental transfer function using the R
package rioja that predicts the water-table (measured as depth to the water
table) of an area given the testate amoebae that are found there. I've
carried out weighted averaging of the data and am trying to produce a graph
that shows the observed water-table versues the model's predicted values.

Rioja package, creating transfer function, WA, "Error in FUN"
Hi, I am a new R user and am trying to construct a palaeoenvironmental
transfer function (weighted averaging method) using the package rioja.
I've managed to insert the two matrices (the species abundance and the
environmental data) and have assigned them to the y and x values
respectively. When I try and enter the 'WA' function though, I get an 'Error
in FUN' message (see

The task view on optimization does not reference a package for non linear
