evt_scrollwin_thumbtrack/GetPosition?
I am attempting to create a scrollable panel. This works fine for using the
scroll arrows, as I am capturing the event and then incrementing the scroll
pos by the desired amount. However, it is not working on thumbtracking. I
capture the event successfully, but I am unable to capture the position of
the thumb tracker. I have looked at the poor man''s doc and have been unable
to figure

Mouse motion example - help
Hi,
I am trying out this example adapted from the wxpython book, but the
mouse motion event does not seem to be captured right. What am I doing
wrong?
Thanks

Adding more sugar to wxSugar
Hi all,
New wxRuby event handling offers the choice between using blocks or
methods seamlessly and easily. This is great respectively for simple
app and more complex app.
Nevertheless, currently the creation of an application, a frame, or a
dialog is very tedious for simple app :
- you need to create a subclass of Wx::App, Wx::Frame ...
- you need to put the initialization code in the initialize

doc generator now in CVS
Hi
Just a quick note to let you know that the Textile doc generation stuff
is now in CVS. There is a moderate amount of documentation in
rake/rakedoc.rb in case you feel like generating your own local copy.
The only prerequisite is the Ruby ''redcloth'' library.
There''s also some info in doc/lib which might be some help if you want
to tweak the output.
cheers

docs
Unless anyone''s got any objections I''m going to check the class docs
textile sources into SVN, for the ported classes at least. Think it
makes more sense to open these up to editing and patching by human than
trying to fix more edge cases in the latex translator.
We can always

Pointer position on keypress event?
Hi.
Is there any straightforward way to tell pointer position (x, y)
upon keypress? In original wxWidgets, wxKeyEvent supports GetX()
and GetY() methods, but wxRuby''s KeyEvent object does not have
one. I also checked with event.methods and event.instance_variables.
Do I need to keep track of pointer position by evt_motion?

Troubles with ListBox and CheckListBox events
Hi all,
Here is an excerpt of code (with the new syntax from upcoming wxRuby 1.9.2) :
evt_checklistbox(my_checklist, :on_checklistbox)
evt_listbox(my_checklist, :on_listbox)
evt_listbox(my_list, :on_listbox)
def on_checklistbox(event)
checklist = event.event_object
# puts "listbox - event : item[#{event.int}] checked : #{event.checked?}"
puts "listbox -

wxruby, XRC, DialogBlock
I''ve been trying to figure out the best method for generating GUI''s with
Ruby. I ended up using DialogBlock because it seems like the fastest
way. But not I have to work backwards and have not done this before.
How do I go from the file I generate in DialogBlock to a code in Ruby?

Documentation for wxRuby
I have written an addon file for rake that turns the wxWidgets
documentation into something much more Ruby like. The code has not
been cleaned up or re-factored and needs some extra features added but
it does quite a bit already.
I have uploaded the generated documentation to my web site so people
can view it.

wxRuby Documentation / Textitle Docs
Hey All,
Just wanted to let you guys know, that with the HTML Generated
documentation from the Textile source code, does not show *''s in stuff
like Wx::FileDialog. It''s interpreting this as a Bold, not as an
Asterisk. Just thought you''d want to know that.

Nightly automatic documentation generation
Is there a way to have RubyForge run our ''rake html_docs'' on SVN Head
each night and if successful copy to http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/doc/?
I do not know all the features RubyForge provides to us but this one
would be pretty nice.

development status, 1.9.2
Hi all
Just a quick update on recent SVN activity:
* added Sound and CollapsiblePane classes
* added the XRC tool to wxSugar
* fixed some XRC bugs in Window
* added syntax sugar for event handlers and list-like controls
* added some missing methods in Sizer
Sean - I''m away for about 10 days from this weekend, and I''m thinking of
doing a 1.9.2 release in the next day or two.

WxRuby refresh from a long running function
Hi All,
This is my first post and I am a complete (well
almost complete) noob at WxRuby. I have
programmed in Ruby for a while, but now I am
trying my hand at a GUI base program running on
Windows. There is quite a bit of serial
communication between the app and a external
device. The problem I am facing is a function call
that takes a long time to complete before
returning to WxRuby.

Bitmap memory leaks (Bug 251)?
I see that this problem was noted a while ago (http://rubyforge.org/
tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=251&group_id=35&atid=218) but it
seems not to have received much attention. Any chance that it will
be looked at anytime soon? So far, I prefer wxRuby to Ruby/Tk
because of that closer coupling with the native window manager.
However, the memory leak is just murdering me.

0.0.36 tagged and released
Hi
I''m pleased to let you know that wxruby2-preview 0.0.36 is now available
on Rubyforge. Binary gems to follow...
To check out a clean copy from SVN and build from source:
svn co svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/wxruby/tags/wxruby2/0.0.36
cd 0.0.36
rake gem WXRUBY_VERSION=0.0.36
From my reading of SVN docs it''s probably wise for developers to
checkout anonymously as a bit of

Wx::Window#get_text_extent patch
Here''s a patch to fix Wx::Window#get_text_extent - it requires that the
patches from teh last message are applied, to enable *INPUT etc typemaps.
Roy - though the function works correctly when called from Ruby, it
still causes a crash when called internally when clicking on a Wx::Grid
cell. Saw your message on SWIG mailing list, hopefully someone there can
help out.
