effects in ANCOVA
Dear R users, I am trying to fit the following ANCOVA model in R2.4.0 Y_ij=mu+alpha_i+beta*(X_ij-X..)+epsilon_ij Particularly I am interested in obtaining estimates for mu, and the effects alpha_i I have this data (from the book Applied Linear Statistical Models by Neter et al (1996), page 1020) y<-c(38,43,24,39,38,32,36,38,31,45,27,21,33,34,28)

I am trying to call a FORTRAN subroutine from R. is.loaded is turning out to be TRUE. However when I run my .Fortran command I get the following error: Error in .Fortran("VALUEAHROPTIMIZE", as.double(ahrArray), as.double(kwArray), : Fortran symbol name "valueahroptimize" not in load table I have given the FORTRAN declaration below: subroutine VALUEAHROPTIMIZE(AHR,

Sweave doesn't do csv.get()
Hi Everybody I use R2.8.0 on Mac OS X. I set up LyX 1.6.1 to use Sweave today. I can compile the test file I found on CRAN ( http://cran.r-project.org/contrib/extra/lyx/) without a problem and the output looks very nice. In the test file the following R code is used. <<myFirstChunkInLyX>>= xObs <- 100; xMean <- 10; xVar <- 9 x <- rnorm(n=xObs, mean=xMean, sd=sqrt(xVar))

A question on list and lapply
Dear all, let say I have following list: Dat <- vector("list", length = 26) names(Dat) <- LETTERS My_Function <- function(x) return(rnorm(5)) Dat1 <- lapply(Dat, My_Function) However I want to apply my function 'My_Function' for all elements of 'Dat' except the elements having 'names(Dat) == "P"'. Here I have specified the name

returning value from source() in R .Net
Hello I would like to source an R script from within a C# .Net application equivalent to: source("my_r_code.r") I can get this to run but am not sure how to retrieve R objects defined with script my_r_code.r at runtime. For example, if "my_r_code.r" contains #-- contents of my_r_code.r--------------------- x <- 1:10 xmean <- mean(x)

Generic code for simulating from a distribution.
Hello all, I have the code below to simulate samples of certain size from a particular distribution (here,beta distribution) and compute some statistics for the samples. betasim2<-function(nsim,n,alpha,beta) { sim<-matrix(rbeta(nsim*n,alpha,beta),ncol=n) xmean<-apply(sim,1,mean) xvar<-apply(sim,1,var) xmedian<-apply(sim,1,median)

help annotating plot.xmean.ordinaly in rms package
Hello List: Does anyone know if there's a way to annotate the plots produced by the plot.xmean.ordinaly function in the rms package. I'd like to produce publication quality figures, but first need to annotate the axis labels. Is there a way to do that? I appreciate any advice. Chris [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Hi, i have some problems to get means, but the data have got NA's which should not be replaced or delete ! tapply(data,var,mean) # makes me problem,because when one value is NA mean is NA,too. Another attempt is this, because the summary does what i want , but is not subsetable to summary[4] if i use tapply,table and the the function below gives me again all means as NA ? xmean

storage class 0 symbol is generated for a double constant in COFF-x86-64 object file
Hi Reid, Sure. Here I attach the trimmed IR(sim_0.ll) which llc.exe takes and produces a 0 storage class symbol. The IR is fairly long but there is only 1 usage of real constant as actual argument passing to function iki_vlog_time() at line 137. The version of llc.exe is $ llc.exe --version LLVM (http://llvm.org/): LLVM version 7.0.1 DEBUG build. Default target: x86_64-pc-win32 Host

[LLVMdev] Please help with LLVM C++ integration
Hi Kirill, Don't forget to add X86TargetMachine.obj (add to Additional Dependencies in Linker options, if you are using MSVS) otherwise LLVM will try and use Interpreter instead of JIT. Hope this helps, Rob. > -----Original Message----- > From: llvmdev-bounces at cs.uiuc.edu [mailto:llvmdev-bounces at cs.uiuc.edu] > On Behalf Of kirill havok > Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2008

kirill havok wrote: > Hi Gordon, > I wrote a small example, but while running I get an error("Tied to > execute an unknown external function"), where I am wrong? > I think the problem is that some_test_func() is a C++ function, so its name is being mangled during compilation. To fix it, I think you want to add a declaration telling the compiler to treat some_test_func()

storage class 0 symbol is generated for a double constant in COFF-x86-64 object file
Hi, I am using the llvm codegen facility (version 7.0.1) to translate LLVM IR for different platforms. I have this error particularly in win64 platform. In my IR code I have such code snippet: %50 = call i8* @my_function(i8* %48, double 2.000000e+00, double 2.000000e+00) ... declare dllimport i8* @my_function(i8*, double, double) By passing it to llc.exe, I find following symbol is declared in

how to divide each element of a matrix by a specific value per column
Hi, I'd like to divide each element of a matrix by a specific value per column. These specific values are stored in a list. For example: > x <- c(1,2,3,4,5) > y <- matrix(c(1:30), nrow = 6) Now I want to divide each element in y[,1] by x[1], y[,2] by x[2] etc. I have tried this > my_function <- function(data, ind) data/ind > apply(y, 2, my_function, x) [,1] [,2]

[LLVMdev] loop transformation: uniquely identifying a loop within a program
hi all, We are writing a loop transformation using the llvm loop pass class, but we do not want to run the pass on all loops within a program. We are looking for suggestions on how we can uniquely identify certain loops that we want to transform. So far, we are working on a suggestion to transform the loops depending on which function they're run from in the program. Which will be something

apply a function down each column
Hello World, I have a function that makes pairwise comparisons between two strings. I would like to apply this function to my data (which consists of columns with different strings) in the way that it compares the first with the second entry, and then the third with the fourth, and then the fifth with the sixth, and so on down each column... So (2x-1) and (2x) would be the different entries to be

SVD Memory Issue
I am trying to perform Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) on a Term Document Matrix I created using the 'tm' package. Eventually I want to do a Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA). There are 5677 documents with 771 terms (the DTM is 771 x 5677). When I try to do the SVD, it runs out of memory. I am using a 12GB Dual core Machine with Windows XP and don't think I can increase the memory

R and Fortran in Windows
I just joined the list and appologize if this has been answered before but I am trying to interface between R and the Compaq Visual Fortran compiler version 6.6 for Windows. I found the following instructions on the web -- and an example. When I follow these directions exactly. R 2.0.0 crashes. Has anyone had any experience with this? Below are the instructions that I located: Thanks Dan
