relist() is broken when the skeleton is a list with empty list elements
Hi, relist() is broken when the skeleton is a list with empty list elements: > x <- list(1:3, integer(0), 11:14) > relist(unlist(x), x) [[1]] [1] 1 2 3 [[2]] [1] 11 3 [[3]] [1] 11 12 13 14 Hard to believe that such a bug has been around for 6 years (i.e. since the introduction of relist()) without ever being noticed. Cheers, H. > sessionInfo() R

Hello, i trying to create a package using package.skeleton. I use R.oo package to create oriented-object classes. When i use package.skeleton, this creates the following file: classA <- structure(function() { extend(Object(),"Class A", .var1= NULL) } , .env = <environment>, class

Skeleton Package to Flesh Out?
By any chance is there a skeleton package to use as a template to develop an R package? I downloaded "Writing R Extensions", which was evidently updated pretty recently, but I did not see any references (and of course I may have totally missed it) to a package template to use as a go by. Does such a skeleton package exist? Thanks again for all your help, as I've got the code,

trouble loading example package
Greetings: I've installed Rtools, MikTeX, perl, minGW, and HTML Help Workshop, and have succeeded in making, checking (using R CMD check mypkg) then building the simple example package.skeleton(list=c("f","g","d","e"), name="mypkg") R CMD build mypkg produces a tarball. I don't know how to get a zip file. But when I try to Install

Newbie creating package with compiled code
Hi R Gurus! I'm trying to create a test package using the package.skeleton function. I wanted to add some compiled code too. In the src library, I put together a baby subroutine, compiled it and created a test.dll When I use the R cmd build, it works fine. But I get into trouble with the R CMD check section. /home/Desktop/R-2.5.1/bin # ./R CMD check mypkg * checking for working latex ...

Creating a R package for Windows XP
Hi: I'm trying to create a package to pass to someone else to use a group of functions with help files. I'm working on Windows XP. Step One: I use the example > ## two functions and two "data sets" : > f <- function(x,y) x+y > g <- function(x,y) x-y > d <- data.frame(a=1, b=2) > e <- rnorm(1000) > >

Work with packages without using R CMD build/install
Hello, for my small project I would like to organize the data, functions and documentation as a package. I have already created a skeleton directory structure with DESCRIPTION file and put some files in the R, man and data subdirectories. Now I would like to work on the package without calling R CMD build/install after each change. In fact, I do not have the build tools installed yet (I am on

relist, an inverse operator to unlist
Hi all, I wrote a function called relist, which is an inverse to the existing unlist function: http://www.econ.upenn.edu/~clausen/computing/relist.R Some functions need many parameters, which are most easily represented in complex structures. Unfortunately, many mathematical functions in R, including optim, nlm, and grad can only operate on functions whose domain is a vector. R has a

Building package/DESCRIPTION file not existing?
Hello useRs I am trying to build a package for personal use and for making easier working with other people but I keep getting the same error message about the DESCRIPTION file not existing. when trying to install from a source tar.gz file: Error in .read_description(dfile) : file 'C:/Users/PropriƩtaire/AppData/Local/Temp/RtmpHFMONb/R.INSTALL647a3535/mypkg/DESCRIPTION' does not

bug in package.skeleton(), and doc typo.
Hi all, I think there's a bug in package.skeleton(), when using the environment argument: Example: env <- new.env() env$hello <- function() { print('hello') } package.skeleton(name='mypkg', environment=env) ==> does not create any source in mypkg/R/* By the way, package.skeleton(name='mypkg', environment=env, list="hello") does not work either.

Namespace in packages
Hello, I wonder how I might create a package that only reveals some of the function in the package to the user. I've tried creating an R package using the following: f <- function(x,y) x+y g <- function(x,y) x-y h <- function(x,y) f(x,y)*g(x,y) package.skeleton(list=c("f","g","h"), name="mypkg") and would like only h() to be available when I

access data inside package
Dear all, Happy new year! I posted a very similar question a few days ago, but probably too cluttered. Here is a tidy, minimal version: I want to make a package, with a data.frame d and a function f given below. Now, the function f needs to use the data.frame d. I could (and that's what I've done temporarily) make a local duplicate of this data.frame in the function definition,

Empty package skeleton
Hi, I know this has been reported/asked before ( http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e15/devel/11/10/0831.html) but it would still be just nice to have a fix for the not user-friendly fact that one cannot create a completely empty package skeleton (see previous post for a suggested patch). In the same vein, I would add to the original suggestion from Herve Pages that it would be nice to have a

Optim stripping attributes from relistable objects
Dear all, The following code is inspired by the help file for the relist() function (see?relist), which explicitly details how you can use a relistable object in conjunction with optim to pass and reconstruct complex parameter structures/groupings. The idea is that the optim() function can only work with vectors, but in many cases you would like to use a complex structure inside the objective

GNU tar does not ignore files in .Rbuildignore (PR#1339)
Full_Name: David O. Nelson Version: 1.4.1 OS: solaris 2.7 Submission from: (NULL) (128.115.150.74) Putting patterns in .Rbuildignore has no effect when the tar being used is gnu tar (1.13) on solaris 2.7, whilst /usr/sbin/tar works perfectly. TO REPRODUCE: The current directory contains a source package directory ./mypkg... bimini.jgi-psf.org% echo >mypkg/foo bimini.jgi-psf.org% echo

Historical NA question (Herv? Pag?s)
"Equivalence" certainly does not mean that literally replacing some text will not change the result. >From "R language definition", p. 11: > Except for the syntax, there is no difference between applying an operator and calling a function. In fact, x + y can equivalently be written ?+?(x, y). Notice that since ?+? is a nonstandard function name, it needs to be quoted.
