profiler and loops
Hello, (This is follow up from this thread: http://www.nabble.com/execution-time-of-.packages-td22304833.html but with a different focus) I am often confused by the result of the profiler, when a loop is involved. Consider these two scripts: script1: Rprof( ) x <- numeric( ) for( i in 1:10000){ x <- c( x, rnorm(10) ) } Rprof( NULL ) print( summaryRprof( ) ) script2:

Emulating a REPL in frontends
A common need in R frontends is to provide some sort of read, (parse), evaluate, print loop. However, there are also a number of points where frontends may want to differ from the standard REPL as available e.g. in R_ReplDLLdo1(). First some thoughts on what is needed, and what is already there, or missing. If you want to skip over this, a short summary is provided in the second half, below

R 4.0.1-4.0.2 built with Intel Composer 19.0-19.1.1, error in "make check" on CentOS 7.7
Hi there, I initially asked about this on r-help and was told this might be a better venue. I?m not really convinced from reading the posting guide, but I?ll give it a shot. It was also suggested that the R-Project doesn?t really care about building with ?non-standard? compilers, but I can?t find any evidence of that on the website (indeed, there?s some mention of successful past builds, and the

[Bug 11067] New: add --min-depth and --max-depth options
Maybe a bit off topic. (I don't deal with any data even remotely that large.) How would you use these new options - just as a way to break large tasks into smaller "batches"? If rsync "stops in the middle", then the target would be in a sort of limbo where it might not be fully usable. Joe On 01/22/2015 09:38 AM, samba-bugs at samba.org wrote: >

Subsetting depth profiles based on maximum depth
Hello, I am having a little trouble finding the right set of criteria to subset a portion of data. I am using an instrument that does depth profiles of a water column. The instrument records on the way down as well as the way up. ## So I am left with data like this: dat <- data.frame(var = runif(11, 0, 10)) dat$depth <- c(1:5,5,5:1) # So for the example dat ## I am trying tp figure out

Subsetting depth profiles based on maximum depth by group with plyr
Hello, Apologies for a similar earlier post. I didn't include enough details in that one. I am having a little trouble subsetting some data based on a grouping variable. I am using an instrument that does depth profiles of a water column. The instrument records on the way down as well as the way up. So thanks to an off-list reply I can subset the data so that all data collected at the

2.0.38 fixes a glitch
Freshmeat says: Following up to yesterday's Linux 2.0.38 release, Alan Cox sent out a security notice about a remote network DoS vulnerability which is present in all Linux 2.0.x systems. Linux 2.2.x is not affected by this bug. Causing this requires a great deal of skill and probably a reasonably local network access as it is extremely timing dependant. Nevertheless everyone is advised to

Enumerating over a Tree by Depth
I have a model using acts_as_tree which is working fine. Being new to Ruby I''m don''t know what enumerator is best to use for traversing a tree by depth. I can write one, but before I do I wanted to know if there is there an enumerator for traversing trees available that the community recommends? Thank you, Jose -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
