rpois gives a large number repeatedly (PR#439)
Full_Name: Kjetil Kjernsmo
Version: 0.65.1
OS: Digital UNIX 4.0
Submission from: (NULL) (129.240.28.172)
I'm experiencing problems with rpois. Occasionally, it draws a very high
number.
Yeah, I know, this is statistics, things like that does happen, but this really
strange because a poisson distribution with a parameter of 3 shouldn't see the
number 1932 very often, but the same,

Problem with match.arg() (PR#536)
Full_Name: Kjetil Kjernsmo
Version: Version 1.0.0
OS: osf1
Submission from: (NULL) (129.240.28.227)
Hello again!
This is a follow-up to my message on R-help about a problem with match.arg()
I have a little more on the topic, but not much really.
First, it was not entirely true what I wrote in r-help that I call match.arg()
in my ramp(), because ramp() just calls qamp() with runif() as

Package GSS for interpolation in more than 2D?
Dear all,
There has been some time since I asked about interpolation in higher (>2)
dimensions, and I must admit I failed to write a function to do this
myself the last time, but eventually ended up doing it in MATLAB. I tried
to translate the MATLAB code, but MATLAB code is so much more opaque than
R (S) code, so I failed that too, mainly because I could only get one
MATLAB session, I would

Random number generation problem (PR#554)
Full_Name: Kjetil Kjernsmo
Version: 1.0.1
OS: osf1
Submission from: (NULL) (129.240.28.227)
Hello!
I'm getting strange numbers from a random number generation
function again. I was wondering if it could be the same problem
as I reported in (PR#439).
I'm using the functions (some comments deleted for brevity):
qamp <- function(p, type=c("point", "nolens"))

persp or wireframe 3D plot: how can I independently adjust linewidth of the 'surface' and framebox?
It is a trivial matter to adjust the linewidth of the axes and plot
line in a 2D plot:
x <- 1:10;
y <- 1:10;
par(lwd=2); # axis (and others) linewidth
plot(x,y,"l",lwd=6); # plot linewidth
Is there anything comparable to this for persp or wireframe? I've
tried a number of ways, and the framebox/axes seem to be linked to
the linewidth used in generating the

type = 'b' with Grid
Dear all,
I feel like I've been reinventing the wheel with this code (implementing
type = 'b' for Grid graphics),
http://econum.umh.ac.be/rwiki/doku.php?id=tips:graphics-grid:linesandpointsgrob
Has anyone here attempted this with success before? I found suggestions
of overlapping large white points to mask the lines but it's not ideal.
I welcome any comments on the code.

[LLVMdev] Runtime linker issue wtih X11R6 on i386 with -O3 optimization
Hi everybody. I have an odd issue that I'd like to get some advice on.
It is a bit of a long story so please bear with me.
X11R6 has a notion of modules so it basically compiles everything into
shared libraries and at start-of-day it loads libraries (modules) as
needed. A side effect of that is that they require really lazy binding
because they do (can?) not enforce the load order.

[PATCH] Annotate shapes, text and dbus support
Here are my patches to add extra shapes to the annotate
plugin. I have also added dbus support and made a few things
configurable.
The new tools available are Line, Rectangle and Circle, the
original is called Brush. There is no selection line at the
moment because I do not understand OpenGL yet. Hopefully
these patches can be added and something added later.
There is an extra action called

linewidth in Rgraphviz
I'm an Rgraphviz newbie trying to figure out how to do some things/whether
they are possible.
Apparently graphviz does allow you to modify line widths of edges: see
https://mailman.research.att.com/pipermail/graphviz-interest/2001q2/000051.html
(although it looks a little obscure even in graphviz). [As discussed in the
thread
above, the "weight" parameter in Rgraphviz sets the

Hi Kashif,
Thank you for your feedback! Do you have some data on the nature of
performance improvement observed with 3.11 in the new setup?
Adding Raghavendra and Poornima for validation of configuration and help
with identifying why certain files disappeared from the mount point
after enabling readdir-optimize.

Difficulties in interaction between R and latex (prosper)
Hello, folks! I'm trying to use R as a graphics program, to make some
pretty graphs that will go into prosper slideshows.
I wrote this fragment, from the R manual, into a file demo.R:
x=seq(-3,3,0.1)
postscript("cm_test.eps", width = 4.0, height = 3.0,
horizontal = FALSE, onefile = FALSE, paper = "special",

autoscaling plot font size in Sweave output possible?
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to have fonts in plots to be
autoscaled to the same font size used by LaTeX in a surrounding
Sweave document.
Here's a short example in which the fonts of the first plot are
barely readable:
--8<------------------------schnipp------------------------->8---

Question regarding R plot
Hi, I am new to R, and have a quick question regarding an R script
that I received from a kind colleague.
I am trying to determine the "peak" (maximum value) of the graph that
is plotted when executing the following. There is an input file called
"rates_values.txt" which begins as:

Setting fontsize in dev.copy2eps
I have a figure on screen with a legend. I want to copy this
image to EPS, and use:
dev.copy2eps(file="file1.eps", width=5, height=5)
The legend that looks OK on screen doesn't look OK in the
PostScript image: the text extends out of the box.
I try adding a fontsize command:
dev.copy2eps(file="file1.eps", width=5, height=5, pointsize=5)

Doubt about Sweave
Hi,
At this moment, I make my R output using comments and latex tags in R.
Something like this:
### make a plot
plot(y~x)
dev.copy2eps(file="plot.eps")
# @\includegraphics[width=\linewidth]{plot}@
...
After I include the file saved with this code in a latex document using the
listings package.
It work.
I reading about Sweave and it make a good output. But all example is made with

know if this causes problems)
* add Windoze compatibility to the perl scripts
