X11 & dev2bitmap
Hi, I am trying to put some graphics I have generated from R on a webpage using dev2bitmap to create a bitmap, .BMP, file. When I look at my notes from 2 or 3 months ago I was successfully able to put the ACTIVE device plot result into a bitmap file using a command such as: dev2bitmap("InsectSpray.BMP") Job done! Now when I try the same command, I get the following: >

tyring to save plots using windoze 7 and cygwin
Hi, I'd been using R in the past and recently installed it on a new windoze 7 machine. There have been many issues with compatibility and 32/64 bit apps etc and I did find on google on isolated complaint that saveplot failed in scripts a long time ago. R seems to work fine except script-based plot saving as pdf has not worked. I have tried the following, none of which seem to function, xyz

Loop Delaying
Hi there, I know this question may sounds strange, but here it goes: Is it possible to delay the speed of a for loop? For example, if I have: for (i in 1:100) { blah blah blah } within the for loop I want to draw a series of plots, and combining the plots together I'll have an animation. Problem is the loop is too fast and I only see the end result (which is not surprising actually).

Invalid device number in savePlot
Hi, I recently encountered an error using the command "savePlot" when trying to save the third of 3 open graph windows. After successfully saving and closing the first two windows I receive an "Invalid device number in savePlot" error. The following is copied and pasted from an example session to illustrate the behaviour: > windows() > hist(rnorm(100)) > windows()

R-0.65.1 Startup
Dear R users, I have noticed that my R startup is extremely slow. It takes almost 3 minutes from "double-click" to R prompt. I have been running R-0.64.1 till recently and it took about 30 sec. I still have access to R-0.64.1. When I started it up, it took about 25 sec. Can anyone tell me if this is a bug in R or a problem with my machine? Note: This is after bootup with R being the

Graphics output device
Dear developers, I wonder would you consider making a save to a graphics file format (as opposed to ps)? What prompts this is that we have just finished my wife's thesis using R heavily for stats and graphs. The combination of latex, bibtex and R generated .eps worked a treat and we were very pleased with both the final outcome and the efficiency of gernerating it, especially when all the

savePlot for Mac and / or Linux?
Hi all, In the package rtlu, I use the function savePlot. It is convenient since it let the user decide in which graphic format he wants his graph to be export. But when I run R CMD check, I get the following message : > rtlu(V1,fileOutput="First.tex",textBefore="\\section{Variable 1 to 3}",graphName="V1") Error in savePlot(filename = nomBarplot, type = type)

I just get the file name with missing extension and it can't be open with programs like Paint and Microsoft Photo Editor Th only one able to open it is "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" plot(rnorm(10))

SavePlot in the Batch mode
Hi R, Does 'savePlot' will not work in the batch mode? I get the below error: > x=c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7) > hist(x) > savePlot("D:\\Test\\histo",type="jpeg") Error in savePlot("D:\\Test\\histo", type = "jpeg") : can only copy from 'windows' devices Execution halted The same works in the interactive mode. bitmap copies of plots
Michael Lapsley was suggesting on R-help direct copies to gif/png/jpeg. The following seems to do a sensible job for me of copying the current device to any bitmap format supported by gs. The manipulation is needed to work around assumptions made by postscript(), and I think better fixed in postscript() (but not a couple of days before a release). I want to make onefile=FALSE work on

Usando R CMD BATCH no me funciona savePlot()

How to save graphics in portable way in batch mode?
Hi all, What is the right portable way to save graphics in batch mode? Remarks: 1. Problem is STFWed and RTFMed. In particular a short note about png() is found in R-FAQ. In fact, there were stated that png() is not reliable under Linux in batch mode. 2. savePlot under windows is quite convenient, but not supplied under Linux. 3. pdf() + postscript() < savePlot()

savePlot() under Windows
Hi, A Windows user asked me a question and I believe this is a bug of R 3.0.0 under Windows: > plot(1:10) > savePlot('test.wmf') Error in .External(C_savePlot, device, filename, type, restoreConsole) : Incorrect number of arguments (4), expecting 3 for 'savePlot' > sessionInfo() R version 3.0.0 (2013-04-03) Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit) locale: [1]

Saved EPS does not match screen when using bquote(.(i))
Here's a fairly minimal-case example in which the saved EPS does not match the screen. The error comes when using bquote(.(i)) instead of bquote(1), as demonstrated by the two minimally different cases below. Very strange. Any clues as to why? #---------------- begin ------------------- # Version A. X axis labels have subscripts as constants. EPS is correct. windows() layout( matrix( 1:2 ,

savePlot error when type = "eps" or "wmf"
Hello, When I use savePlot(filename="xy",type="eps") or savePlot(filename="xy",type="wmf") , I get the following error: Error in grid.Call("L_textBounds", as.graphicsAnnot(x$label), x$x, x$y, : Polygon edge not found (zero-width or zero-height?) This doesn't occur when I change the type to "jpeg" or "bmp". Can

savePlot() no longer automatically adds an extension to the filename.
Plaintive squeak: Why the change? Some OS's and desktops use the extension, so forgetting it causes trouble. The new default filename keeps a filetype (as before) but the user now has to type a filetype twice (once as the type, once as extension) to get the same effect fo rtheir own filenames. And the extension isn't then checked for consistency with valid file types, so it can be
