0.65 HPUX/AIX update
The current situation is as follows. AIX: * I still need f77 for linking. Using ld with the suggested flags gives a binary with `exec format error'. The problem seems to be with an unreferenced __start. * The floating point (finite|isnan) stuff is strange, but under control, I think. Plain cc works, gcc has a problem and seems to need having prototypes turned off for IEEE fp.

0.65 HPUX|AIX make check
Update (for me): * On HPUX (cc/f77/make), make check passes the Examples but fails in arith-true.R because is.infinite(.Machine$double.base ^ .Machine$double.max.exp) gives FALSE. Interestingly > .Machine$double.base [1] 2 > .Machine$double.max.exp [1] 1024 > 2 ^ 1024 [1] 1.797693e+308 > 2 ^ 1025 [1] 1.797693e+308 > 2 ^ 2024 [1] 1.797693e+308 so I guess we need help here. *

R-release dynamic load problem on HPUX10.20
Hello, I just pulled the patched release: R-release Version 1.0.0 Patched (March 19, 2000), on HPUX10.2 I am having dynamic library load problems. I configured with: ./configure --prefix=/home/absd00t/local --with-readline --with-x After changing etc/Makeconf to take -lblas out of libs (the blas library provided by the system is not a shared library), system was built without any interruptions.

arrows() doesn't like zero-length arrows (PR#727)
Hi, By going through the mailing list archives, I noticed that people use the arrows() command to add error bars to their plots. I think there is a problem when trying to draw arrows of zero length. In the following code, certainly the x driver produces an odd-angled line. In the postscript device, NaNQ values are generated; when the postscript file is viewed in Ghostview, an error is then

R on Tru64 OSF 5.1
Has anyone achieved a current successful build of R 1.8 or 1.9 or earlier for HPUX Tru 64 OSF 5.1? There is no binary version of R for HPUX Tru 64 OSF 5.1. The R admin manual mentions that the native make fails on "Alpha/OSF (aka Tru 64)" and gnu make must be used instead. There are problems reported with building R versions around 1.4 from 2002 on R-devel, some of which were fixed with

choosing systems
After many helpful suggestions from many including Brian Ripley, Peter Dalgaard, Martin Maechler, Douglas Bates, and Tristan Savatier--it is clearly time to upgrade my system from SPARC-10 Solaris 2.4. Rational choice of configuration should be based on intended application and perhaps the fact it is my pension, not my university, which now finances my research. My most demanding applications

[Andreas Krause <Andreas.Krause@genedata.com>] Re: splus shell escapes
Anyone know what the problem is with IRIX 6.5 ? (esp if there is a solution?). Looks like the built-in math stuff is masking definitions from R source. some fixes for R 2.01.1 on OpenSolaris using Sun Studio compilers
Hello, I recently built a 64-bit R 2.10.1 on OpenSolaris using the Sun Studio 12.1 compilers. I would like to contribute the following notes, to update the OpenSolaris installation instructions. ================================================ 0. GNU libiconv and GNU gettext are assumed to be in /opt/lib. GNU libiconv is easy to build from source. After building it, configure

Hi, Looking into LLVM for a database query engine project... After downloading the latest source from CVS, it's my first time trying to build LLVM. hpux 11.i and HAVE_GETADDRINFO
Hi, After digging through google search results I found the well known hpux 11.i bug occuring after installing the March 2002 patch bundle which breaks DNS lookup for openssh. After setting HAVE_GETADDRINFO to 0 in config.h and another recompile, ssh works fine and I am happy again. No more "host nor service provided" error messages. Q1: Maybe hp has a fix for this already, but I am

R-alpha: naming convention for index files
In the process of moving to the new directory structure, we might also reconsider the naming of the various index files. A simple idea would be to have an `INDEX' file in each directory where this is appropriate. E.g., we could have pkg/funs/INDEX (rather than help/pkg/INDEX) pkg/data/INDEX (rather than index.doc) pkg/help/INDEX (rather than AnIndex) or e.g. pkg/INDEX.funs

openssh-2.9.9p2, AC_SYS_LARGEFILE, SCO, and HPUX
openssh-2.9.9p2/configure.in says: # Disabled until it works on SCO and HPUX #AC_SYS_LARGEFILE As an autoconf maintainer I'd like to fix this. Can you please explain what's broken on SCO and HPUX? I'm puzzled by the comment, as AC_SYS_LARGEFILE is a feature introduced in autoconf 2.50, whereas openssh-2.9.9p2/configure was built with autoconf 2.13. Anyway, some older GNU

Re: Which Samba (CIFS ?) For HPUX 11.00 ?
Hi Nick, This topic should be on samba@lists.samba.org - not technical. I'll give you a brief overview, and any followup send to me directly. HP-CIFS Server for 11.0 is based upon Samba 2.2.12. Support for 11.0 ends there - at 2.2.12. Go to: http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA If you want to continue on 11.0, HP posts 3.0.14a Opensource
