Considering that wxruby can be of interest to some Ruby users not so familiar with C++ and/or wxWindows (I''m one of them :-), I included some notes on installing MinGW & MSYS, building wxWindows library, Ruby ..

New Quantian releases with almost all of CRAN / BioC
[ I hope this is not considered off-topic for the list: A new Quantian release was just announced, and it contains even more R. As before, we have R (now 2.2.1), ESS, Ggobi, Rpy, several BioInfo tools -- but now we also have RSPerl, JGR, rJava and more. A full sync to CRAN and BioC as of Feb 25, 2006 now yields dim(installed.packages())[1] of 877. Feedback welcome, but

Re. When is *interactive* data visualization useful to use?
Hello Tal, You asked *When is it helpful to use interactive plots? Either for data exploration (for ourselves) and data presentation (for a "client")?* My answer: It's helpful for checking data quality, for exploration with and without "clients", for checking results, and for data presenting. Notes: (1) It's difficult to explain interactive data visualization in
