R-alpha: R <-> S compatibility; more demos -- using S-plus validate(..) ..
Look at the result of (in S-plus:) validate(verbose=TRUE, outfile="......./validate-3.4.out") which gives (for me, S-plus 3.4 on Solaris 2.5) 2106 Lines of output. It's full of tests using "standard data sets". (--> 'demos' available!) Basically, at the end of each example, there are statements which should return TRUE if the 'validation test' is

R-alpha: loop speed
I noticed Doug only circulated the following on S-news, but it may be of interest to R users who don't follow S-news. His findings are certainly consistent with my own, where my problems often force me into the element by element type of situation. Paul Gilbert _______ At the risk of beating this example to death, I went back and compared the execution time for the element-by-element method

[PATCH v3] PCI: Use ioremap(), not phys_to_virt() for platform ROM
On some EFI systems, the video BIOS is provided by the EFI firmware. The boot stub code stores the physical address of the ROM image in pdev->rom. Currently we attempt to access this pointer using phys_to_virt(), which doesn't work with CONFIG_HIGHMEM. On these systems, attempting to load the radeon module on a x86_32 kernel can result in the following: BUG: unable to handle page

Whenever we do some fop on EC volume on a file, we check the xattr also to see if the file is healthy or not. If not, we trigger heal. lookup is the fop for which we don't take inodelk lock so it is possible that the xattr which we get for lookup fop are different for some bricks. This difference is not reliable but still we are triggering heal and that is why you are seeing these messages.
