Bug in TextCtrl constructor
Howdy, I''ve uncovered a bug in the constructor for TextCtrl (originally uncovered while using WxSugar but it appears to apply to WxRuby itself as well). Here''s the output from irb: # ------ irb(main):001:0> require ''wx''; irb(main):002:0* ctl =

object-oriented GUI design and event handling
I''m trying to setup a fairly simple GUI with Ruby to perform some SQL queries. There are a few drop-down boxes where users can select different options and then one button that when clicked should get the text from each drop-down in order to perform the query. Once it gets the result it should display it to a text control. The problem is I am not sure how to actually reference each

wxruby unfriendly to other threads?
I''ve seen a few e-mails about multithreading with respect to wxruby but nothing recent. Unless I''m mistaken, and that may be, there still appear to be problems. The following code seems to hang my spawned thread in favor of the wxruby event loop: Thread.new do puts "in thread" loop do sleep 5 puts "looping" end end puts "main

XRC Problem
Hello All, I''ve looked back through the wxruby-users archive, and found someone else was having the same problem when it comes to Accessing XRC and getting a GTK Error about GtkPizza. I don''t know what the problem is, as what I''m using, is wxGlade to develop my user interface, and it creates all the controls in what looks like it should be fine, but it''s

Hi I tagged 0.0.38 and started a release on rubyforge. I''ll do the doc packages & upload plus gems for OS X ppc and Linux; TIA for gems for Windows and OS X Intel - please upload whenever convenient. Samba PDC on NT4 Domain
Hello, At my school, the Domain logons are handled for all students through a collection of Domain Controllers. Our WebTeam maintains a Linux server, and in the past has had it set up as a Samba PDC through which they can log in and access their files on the webserver through shares. The webteam no longer uses Windows 98 computers, and has moved to XP computers. The problem here is that XP joins a

TreeCtrl#get_item_data
Hi I saw from the ChangeLog that [get|set]_client_data was removed from ComboBox for 0.4.0 because the methods weren''t working properly. TreeCtrl#get_item_data still seems to be there. I was wondering if someone who understood the issue could say if TreeItemData might also be afflicted with the same problems? I seem to be segfaulting quite a bit (actually, on TreeEvt#get_item), but it

0.0.39 etc
Hi I''d like to tag and release 0.0.39 some time in the next couple of days. Bit short of time over the next few weeks so would like to get our recent bug fixes out there. I''ll update the Changelog and run through the samples, but please shout if anything else should get some attetnion before we release. Hopefully this could be our last preview release - also going to try

debuggingState() analogous to tracingState() ?
We have had some conversation within R core, lead by Duncan Murdoch and me, about a proposal to extend the current tracingState() functionality by something tentatively called debuggingState(). Duncan has allowed me to copy the previous conversation (after very minor editing): The following is quite technical and assumes you know more about R's debug()ing and trace()ing than an estimated

Ruby IDE with wxRuby
Hello All, There seems to have been a lot of interest in getting wxScintilla incorperated, and I think most of us who want it, want it so we can create an editor, so to avoid multiple projects comming out with the same goal (Not really that bad of a problem....), I''m going to kick start this, and ask that anyone interested in developing a Editor with wxRuby and wxScintilla, to send

Problems installing/running svn-code
Hi, The last couple of days I''ve been trying to get back on the wxRuby-horse however I''ve ran into some problems while compiling/testing the subversion sources. Mind, the 1.9.2 official release works fine. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. The first hurdle was that the rake install target doesn''t work. It fails on rakewx.rb:145. Looking into it I found that

autotest stop working, 1.0.9?
My autotest runs but when I make changes to a spec it doesn''t reload. I checked another application I was building that had 1.0.9 but it was reloading fine. How would I debug a problem such as autotest not reloading? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... MSW segfaults II
Hi Think I tracked down why Windows suddenly went horrible crashy - the newest SWIG release generates slightly different code for object tracking, so our fixmodule.rb wasn''t picking up the broken line, so we got a nasty regression. Anyway, the patch (SVN:862) gives me a major improvement in stability Windows. Please could you let me know how SVN HEAD is working for you; if no major

wxruby2-preview Gauge and wx-sugar with SplitterWindow
First of all, just wanted to say big thanks for all the great work on wxruby2 .. I''ve been a user of 0.6 for a long time and its proved very useful over the years. It''s great to finally have a multi-platform, gem installable ui toolkit that doesn''t suck! Secondly, thanks also for wx-sugar. I was drowning in sizers and started to write my own layout library ... but
