Compiling WxRuby2 on Ubuntu 6.06
Hi All, I am trying to compile WxRuby on Ubuntu 6.06. I checked out the latest source code from CVS and ran ''rake'' under the wxruby2 directory. I am getting the following error. root@imayam:/work/wxruby/wxruby2# rake (in /work/wxruby/wxruby2) rake aborted! Don''t know how to build task ''src/App.cpp'' (See full trace by running task with --trace) I am

General segfaulting
I''m having issues with WxRuby segfaulting when it''s dealing with external data in one form or another. I can reliably force WxRuby to crash by a) Parsing a file with Hpricot into an internal array of objects and assigning that to an instance variable on a Wx::Frame b) Running my script in Eclipse in "debug" mode and merely mousing over the

object-oriented GUI design and event handling
I''m trying to setup a fairly simple GUI with Ruby to perform some SQL queries. There are a few drop-down boxes where users can select different options and then one button that when clicked should get the text from each drop-down in order to perform the query. Once it gets the result it should display it to a text control. The problem is I am not sure how to actually reference each

Wx::Bitmap causes segfaults
Instantiating a Wx::Bitmap with width and height causes a segmentation fault. This is the minimal example I could find where the behaviour is exhibited: require ''rubygems'' require ''wx'' Wx::Bitmap.new(1, 1) Results in: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/wxruby-1.9.8-x86-linux/lib/wx/classes/bitmap.rb:17: [BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.6 (2007-09-24) [i486-linux]

Bug in TextCtrl constructor
Howdy, I''ve uncovered a bug in the constructor for TextCtrl (originally uncovered while using WxSugar but it appears to apply to WxRuby itself as well). Here''s the output from irb: # ------ irb(main):001:0> require ''wx''; irb(main):002:0* ctl =

1.9.2, OpenGL
[third sending attempt...] I''m going to try and test out the samples on MSW over the next few days and if things look good I think we should release 1.9.2. Might try and fix the bugs related to TreeCtrl#get_first_child as these might involve minor API changes. So if anyone has any time to test out SVN HEAD and look for anything funny, please do. Also, we have an anonymous patch

instabilities in wxRuby 1.9.6
I have recently started to use wxRuby, because I have used the wxWidgets library from C++ for a few years and found it an excellent toolkit. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and version 1.9.6 of wxRuby. A problem though is a number of instabilities. This may be due to my own ignorance, but I have usually found C++/wxWidgets, once the program compiles it will at least stay working, if at times

Suggestion for wxruby name change
We''ve had some discussion in the past about the wxruby vs wxruby-swig name, and how they are a bit confusing. My big problem with ''wxruby-swig'' is that unless you know what ''swig'' is, it''s not a terribly useful (or sexy) postfix. It''s like naming a car after it''s manufacturing process - "the all new Acura

embedding wxruby?
Hello, is it possible to code a wxWidgets GUI in C++ and pass the whole wxApp or just single windows to embedded Ruby code? This would be very nice to provide a scriptable plugin system. wxRuby build problems
I''ve just tried to build wxRuby on a debian/unstable (i386) platform. I went to rubyforge.org and downloaded wxruby-0.5-src.tar.gz. <http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/1254/wxruby-0.5-src.tar.gz> I have ruby 1.8.2 installed on my system. I needed to install the debian package ruby1.8-dev in order to get mkmf.rb. That solved my first problem. So then i ran "ruby

How to get a Window handle from another app?
Hello, I would like to get a window handle from another app outside of wxRuby and convert it into a wxRuby Window handle so that I can use it as the parent Window for several wxRuby child windows. Basically I want to use the FRAME_FLOAT_ON_PARENT window style so that my wxRuby windows become associated with the outside app kind of like toolbars, e.g., they don''t show up in the
