"No text console available" when trying to get the console of a just created VM from a template on XCP
Hi there, I am trying to set up XCP on Ubuntu 12.04. I went through the procedure given in the README file of the xcp-xapi package and reached the point where the hypervisor seems to be running fine. I set up a VM using the Debian Squeeze (64bit) template and started it, giving a Debian mirror URL as install-repository. Running "xe vm-list" reports that the machine is running, but when

problems joining domain with smbpasswd
Hello, I am trying to do join my debian 3.0 linux box with samba v2.2.3a to my windows 2000 domain. I was trying to follow the directions at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#AEN401. I have created the computer account in the active directory. What I think is weird is that smbpasswd is saying it is trying to connect to port 445? The dc I am connecting to has all the

Just to say hello
Just a short message to say hello to everybody. I''m new here, but it''s a step forward to dive into _why''s deepesy secrets... I''m sure this list will bring a lot of ideas to a lot of people. I kinda like the way of saying ''You know, when there''s a shorter way to the solution, this way is probably simpler, clearer and more fun as well. I wish

Bug? find_by_id(nil) returns object just created
Tried to submit a ticket in Trac, but it reported an error... Doing a Model.find_by_id(nil) after creating an object of type Model returns that object -- and the next time, returns nil. It should always return nil. For example, Step 1. Create an object: >> Foo.create(:name => "bar") => #<Foo:0x2aaaac3ade20 @new_record=false,

What''s the model pattern for just storing an array of ints?
Maybe this question is obvious, but I''m missing the answer. I want one of the fields in my model to be an array of int. These are not indexes into another model. I''m cool with creating another database table if I have to, but then do I need to do a join to access the data? Or does Ruby have some cool trick where I can translate my array of ints into a String, store it in

Q: periodically_call_remote ( how to make it execute just once? )
I posted this ealier on the web forums but noticed a similar question about this function and one user responded to try this list instead. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Q: Is there a way to use periodically_call_remote to run just one time instead of every '':frequency'' seconds? I tried putting the call inside the div container thinking it

Why is the path displayed instead of just the filename?
Hi! I''m trying to create a link to the file uploaded by file_column. In my ''news'' table i have ''attachment'' column that stores filenames of attachments. But if i try to display the filename <%= @news.attachment %> i get something like this: ../config/../public/news/attachment/7/filename.ext In ''attachment'' column i have

[Q] What would cause fsck running on a drbd device to just stop?
drbd-0.7.19 under kernel 2.6.17-rc4 is running on a primary node standalone. There are 8 resources in the same group. fsck.ext3 -fv is being run simultaneously on all of them. Each of the drbd devices are running on an lv, which all belong to a single pv. The actual "disk" is a hardware RAID connected via SCSI (i.e., the mpt driver). Five of the fsck finished their tasks

Hi, originally I posted this to linux-raid@vger.kernel.org, but I guess there are chances that someone in here might comment on it as well. ipfw deny or reject - not just a matter of taste?
Hi, I think this is worth a note. It was generally said the decision between deny and reject (aka unreach) could be taken lightly - and most people seem to prefer "deny", which complicates things for an attacker, because packets just vanish without any report and tasks timeout. But from my viewpoint, this argument falls into the category "security by obscurity", and I found

Autotest just sits there
I have had this problem for a while. autotest has never worked properly for me. I have tried different versions of rspec with different versions of ZenTest. I have tried it with .autotest files and without. When I run autotest from my rails app root, it says: loading autotest/rails_rspec and then it just sits there. If I look at the output from autotest -v, it is traversing the tree and it
