Make a whole mailbox read-only
Hello,
i've found an old thread [1] where it was stated that a whole mailbox
can be made read-only only setting the according permissions on the
filesystem side.

http://www.mailinglistarchive.com/html/dovecot at dovecot.org/2011-12/msg00300.html
i'd like to check if it's still the only option we have with dovecot
v2.0.18 .

AUTH PLAIN fails while AUTH LOGIN succeeds with Exim -> Dovecot SASL auth
Hello,
we're trying to setup a platform with authenticated SMTP with exim and
relying on dovecot as auth agent.
We've read http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/EximAndDovecotSASL and so made
the changes mentioned there, also setting
auth_mechanisms = plain login
in conf.d/10-auth.conf .
With this setup, we're able to use AUTH LOGIN method on an SMTP session,
but using AUTH PLAIN

Clarifications on Pigeonhole and MySQL lookups
Hello,
we're scouting if it's possible to use Pigeonhole (currently v0.3.1, as
this will be provided with an upcoming Debian package) with MySQL dict
lookups with the mail setup we're designing.
Our (main) goals are:
1. store the filters on the database
2. allow each user to enable/disable any of the filters set we provide
(it's a static set of some general filters, available

Bus factor of dovecot / GIT
Hi,
somebody from the kolab groupware project recently explained me that the Bus-
Factor[1] of around 1 would be one of their primary reasons not to use Dovecot
and stick with Cyrus.
What do you think about that? Is the bus factor much higher then 1?

(minor) bug in configure
Hello,
while reading config options for dovecot v1.2.10 I've noticed a very
small bug:
# ./configure --help | egrep -- 'Dovecot|--with-gnu-ld'
`configure' configures Dovecot 1.2.10 to adapt to many kinds of systems.
--with-gnu-ld assume the C compiler uses GNU ld [default=no]

Migration from Courier to Dovecot: is it recommended to "force" d.index* creation?
Hello,
we are planning to migrate from Courier to Dovecot.
We already know courier-dovecot-migrate.pl, that will convert UID list
and subscriptions files to dovecot format, and we will run it in batch
on all Maildir + enable it at login, once we do the switch
But we are also wondering it it might be wise to "force" the creation of
dovecot.index{,.cache} files at conversion-time. It

sieve and antispam
I have a fairly standard antispam/dspam setup: postfix delivers to
dspam, which classifies and tags the mail, and then passes it to postfix
which uses sieve to put mail into the appropriate folders based on
dspam's classification. I also have the antispam plugin watching mail
being moved between folders and re-training dpsam accordingly.
If I now add some sieve filter rules which put

antispam plugin claims "antispam signature not found"
Hi,
I am trying to setup the antispam plugin using the direct dspam backend.
I have set
antispam_signature = X-DSPAM-Signature
in dovecot.conf
and in all mails I have signature lines like
X-DSPAM-Signature: 1,49084a24139132188715614
but still, if I try to move a mail into the spam folder, i get the IMAP error message
"antispam signature not found".
I thought it might have to do

Dovecot Antispam Problem (Using mail sending backend)
I'm trying to setup DSPAM training using the mail-sending backend of the
Antispam filter, unfortunately, things don't appear to be working.
I've compiled it against the debian etch dovecot libraries, and the plugin
itself builds, and doesn't report any errors when running. As a matter of
fact, it doesn't report ANYTHING when running, except for the initialization

deb repo with dovecot-antispam ?
There are .debs available for version 2.2 both from backports and
ix.dovecot.fi, but neither seem to have the antispam plugin built for
version 2.2. Anybody know why, and (if there is no particular reason)
how to get dovecot-antispam in a proper .deb package for dovecot-2.2.* ?

dovecot-antispam dependencies
Hi
There's currently a version block for the dovecot and dovecot-antispam packages in Gentoo. Dependencies indicate that dovecot-2.0.11 does not accept dovecot-antispam-1.3. Is this correct or should it work? If not: How about the current rc of version 1.4?
Cheers, -sven

dovecot + antispam + sendmail
Whats a good antispam solution?
I am using sendmail and dovecot 1.1. I came across dovecot's antispam
plugin, but it seems it does not support 1.1 yet. I am also looking
for something non-perl based.
I am already doing some greylisting with sendmail milter.
Any other good suggestions? If not, I guess I might have to downgrade
back to 1.0 dovecot.
Thanks

antispam for Dovecot 1.1
Hi Johannes.
I wanted to try out the antispam plugin for a Dovecot 1.1 install, only to
learn that 1.1 is actually not supported.
Are there any plans to remedy this? If not, is it known how much effort is
required? (i.e. could I do it myself?).
Thanks,
Anders.

AntiSpam Plugin
I'm getting Errors in Thunderbird, when using the antispam plugin:
[SERVERBUG] failed to send email
What am I doing wrong? there isn't that much to configure? I'm using
Dovecot version 1.2.12.
Does anyone know about that bug aswell, cause google research showed me
that it might be a common bug?!
