Marathon Day 6 of First Install: MySQL Connection Problem
Hi; This is my 6th day installing my first Postfix/Dovecot installation. The Postfix mailing list indicates I've got the MTA under control so now I'm seeking your help with the MDA. I get these errors with legitimate email addresses: Oct 24 11:47:38 myserver dovecot: auth-worker: Error: mysql(localhost): Connect failed to database (postfix): Access denied for user

Mails repopping
HI I don't know if this is a dovecot issue or a client one. But as Dovecot is the most recent change, I'll start here. I have a server that's been running Courier for about 6 years and in all that time I think I've only ever had 1 issues where an entire mail box was repopped by a webmail client. However, since moving to a new server and dovecot 4 weeks ago, I've now had the

Upgrading 1.2 to 2.x
Hi I'm about to upgrade to 2.1.7 in my test environment, but "doveconf -n -c dovecot.1.conf > dovecot.2.conf" is producing a blank file, so I am unsure how to proceed. I know a lot has changed between them, so I don't really want to have to start from scratch unless I have to. I have tried both as my user and with sudo. Simon

Winbind IDMAP question.
Hello all, I have joined my linux boxes to AD and can authenticate using Active Directory usernames and passwords using Winbind. I want to Authenticate to AD but have that user mapped to a local Unix or NIS ID otherwise the AD authentication is useless and only hinders with file permissions and such. My first questions in regards to an ADS domain member server. Can Winbind be used to map a

File Permissions and delivery
Hi I'm very new to Dovecot (been using Courier for 5 years), but I've been persuaded of the merits of Dovecot and since the server needs upgrading that seems like the perfect time/excuse. On a test server, I set up postfix and installed Dovecot (running 32-bit Debian Squeeze, installed from apt-get). I mirrored the mail store (Maildirs, for historical reasons located under

slightly OT: high availability remote managerment tools
This is completely OFF TOPIC from centos and slightly vague, so please reply to me direct. I just want to pick everyone's brains here for their experience with high availability remote management (servers, networks, etc). Can anyone recommend any good high availability remote managerment tools. I mean something more than ssh, nagios, etc. Anything from appliances to monitoring, remote access,

proposing $E & $T
Hey all, I''ve had these functions for some time now, and would like to offer them as two new dollar-sign functions - elements to be extended by Prototype geniuses. :-) makeText(string) as $T() - return text node element Does just what it says... I''m sure someone could extend it nicely when via Prototype. (example) var x = $T(''hello world'');

People with applications needing directories containing large numbers of files.
I've been working (inspired by James Peach of SGI) on the problem of using Samba3 with applications that need large numbers of file (100,000 or more) per directory. I think the current code in SVN in the SAMBA_3_0 branch may hold the fix for this problem, so I'd like to request people who need this functionality to give it a try. The key was fixing the directory handling to read only the

R behaviour related to user input (readline()) and run selection
When I run the below section of code I get the following error: Error in if (co == "A" || co[1] == "O") { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed When I run the code in two parts where I first get the user's input then afterwards run the if/else section, there is no problem. Is there a way to stop the "run selection" process

Sendmail-SMTP, Cyrus-IMAPD and plus (+) addressing.
Has anyone on this list got sendmail and cyrus-imapd configured so that email addressed in the form username+folder at example.com gets delivered directly to cyrus' user.username.inbox.folder? I have been tinkering with this on and off for about a week and no matter what I have tried, all traffic addressed in the +folder format ends up in user.username.inbox instead. If anyone has gotten

hist.default documentation
I think there are a couple of things in ?hist that are not quite as clear as they could be. (1) freq: logical; if 'TRUE', the histogram graphic is a representation of frequencies, the 'counts' component of the result; if 'FALSE', _relative_ frequencies ("probabilities"), component 'density', are plotted. error message: .Random.seed is not an integer vector but
Thanks much Ted. I actually had just tried what you suggest here before you posted, and resolved the problem. Thanks also for the other tips. I wrote x = as.vector(c(1:12)) because I thought that the mode of x might be the problem, the error message pointing to .Random.seed notwithstanding. On a related note, I did a brief test a couple weeks back where I ran a million random samples of 3 from

How to capture t-score and p-values from t.test
When I do t.test on two distributions (see example below), it outputs numerous data about the t.test. What I'd like to do is individually capture some of this data and assign it to other variables. However, I am unable to find anything in the help section. In the example below, the t value is -4.0441 and the p-value is 0.006771 How can I assign these values to two variables, let's
