Puppet certificate
I''m running in circles with this issue... I accidentally did a ''puppetca --clean --all'' and lost all certificates. I was able to get the puppetmaster running and re-created certificates for the client system, but I get the following error: warning: peer certificate won''t be verified in this SSL session info: Caching certificate for w0f.lagged.com info:

should vsftpd be disabled in favour of sftp for security reasons?
(another in an ongoing list of things i just want to clarify for the sake of future courses taught on centos.) from this RHEL doc page: http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Deployment_Guide/s1-openssh-server-config.html the reader is advised to, for the sake of security, remove/disable vsftpd, ostensibly in favour of sftp/sftp-server. really? i can obviously

Overdue upgrade of bind
I am **FINALLY** starting in on upgrading my domain server. Right now it is still on bind-9.3.6 via Centos 5.5. Stepping right up to 9.8.2 in Centos 6.3. I am pretty good with zone files and the like, though I will finally get to tackle DNSSEC (and I can go to the sources Austien, Vixie, and Liu if need be or even the bind list!), but right now I have much more mundane issues. openLDAP under CentOS-6
I've been hard hit by the lack of CentOS-6 documentation mentioned in another thread. The openLDAP setup has been changed completely between CentOS 5 and 6, and I haven't been able to find any reasonably coherent instructions explaining how to upgrade. If anyone knows of such a document I should be most grateful to learn of it. Actually I have openLDAP working (though unencrypted) with my

Hi, When browsing the (excellent) deployment guide I found the following broken links: http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-basic-firewall-securitylevel-enable.html ('Next' link from http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-basic-firewall-securitylevel.html) http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-iptables-options-commands.html

NFS hard mount
Is there a tunable to set NFS hard mount time out? For instance, if the server becomes unavailable for extended amount of time, say 1 hour. I would like to timeout after 30 secs. (Soft mount isn't an option, BTW) -- --- Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.--

CentOS 6 : Network Interface Naming
Hello All, I have one CentOS 6 KVM virtualization server that I built around a year ago (best I can tell it was in October 2012) at which time I would have been installing 6.3 [0]. That particular install used the Consistent Network Device Naming [1] conventions (PCIe NICs are p1p1, p1p2). I started to build out a new KVM virt server (kickstarting a 6.4 install now as compared to 6.3 back then)

Centos 6 - Persistant static routes
I know how to use 'ip' to set up a static route, e.g.: ip route add 192.168.128.0/17 via 40.53.24.3 dev eth0 But if you reboot or restart network, you loose this. Thus you have to make it persistant. I found: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/configuring-static-routes-in-debian-or-red-hat-linux-systems.html where it says to add to ifcfg-eth0: 192.168.128.0/17 via 40.53.24.3 But this

CentOS 6 (and 5.6) doc on http://www.centos.org/docs
Hi documentation team, As CentOS 6 is now being released to the mirrors, it would be a good time to think about putting the accurate documentation on http://www.centos.org/docs Red Hat changed their documentation license in the past and they are now using the CC-by-SA license. My own understanding (but IANAL) is that we can just share the documentation , and just linking back to upstream

ip route and nexthop: the "CentOS" way
Hi, I'm wanting to configure a CentOS 6 server to have a fall-back default route via a second network interface. Given: - eth0 with 192.168.0.10 on subnet 192.168.0.0/24 gateway 192.168.0.1 - eth1 with 192.168.1.10 on subnet 192.168.1.0/24 gateway 192.168.1.1 Where eth0's network is a "back door" to the internet, and eth1's is the "front door", I believe I can

nfs root kerberos
Hi Louis, Thanks for your message. However, I already have NFS working completely. I'm only trying to work out root NFS access on the client.? I tried your NFS translation fix via idmapd.conf? but that isn't working for me. I've discovered that's because CentOS 7 is using gssproxy so apparently your fix won't work. The fix from Red Hat (adding some lines to krb.conf seen in my

[PATCH 0/2] Move /sys/o2cb to /sys/fs/o2cb
Hi Greg, The following two patches move /sys/o2cb into /sys/fs/o2cb as we previously discussed. A symlink is created to maintain compatibility with existing versions of ocfs2-tools. A patch to automatically search /sys/fs/o2cb has been committed to the ocfs2-tools repo and a release with that code shouldn't be too far out. Old versions of ocfs2-tools have been tested and work fine with the
