Problem with messages with long lines
Hello dear mailing list readers,
Recently I am experimenting a problem trying to retrieve messages over a
POP3 protocol.
Everything goes right until the POP3 client tries to retrieve a message that
contains one or more long lines ? lines as long as 3000 characters or even
more.
The client (Outlook 2003 and 2007) stops on that message until timeout.
I have opened a connection manually to see

Getting an extprogram script to work
Hi all,
I'm trying to do the same thing everyone else is: having rspamd
learn_ham or learn_spam depending on where I move a message. My current
problem is that Dovecot seems to be reporting success, but nothing ever
happens -- the script somehow fails to run.
I'm currently using a dummy script that just writes a file to /tmp,
until I can get this much working, at least. My bin_dir:

STARTTLS does not seem to work
I believe I have the configuration set to use START TLS on IMAP4 (143)
and POP3 (110) ports. ?However, it does not seem to be working. ?Yet
"STARTTLS" is listed as a capability (which tells me I probably do
have it configured right).
In the session below, 172.30.0.24 is the mail server I'm putting up.
64.26.60.229 is an outside mail service. A similar thing happens on
POP3. The

Shared folders not shown if "INBOX.shared.%.%" is used with dovecot 2.1.10
Hi,
Thunderbird uses the following IMAP command to list shared folders:
. list "" INBOX.shared.%.%
Dovecot 2.1.10 does not list any folders in response to this command.
Dovecot 2.0.21 does list them:
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." "INBOX.shared.user1.folder"
. OK List completed.
Both versions list the folders if "*" is used instead of

dovecot lda bouncing postfix aliases
Hi,
Typically, postfix should resolve the aliases into user accounts that
dovecot knows before you even start delivering to dovecot. You probably
messed something up in the postfix config that disables alias expansion
before dovecot delivery is attempted.
Can you show us your postfix config?
Kind regards,
Tom

IMAP Proxying and SSL Certificates on OpenBSD
Hi list,
?
I am currently trying to configure dovecot to act as a imap proxy in front of a Groupwise server. Because of a policy no services of the gw server may be directly served to the web. So currently this is only a security measure. Dovecot was previously used for providing sasl-auth capabilities to postfix. IMAP proxy features should be added now. Authentication backend is LDAP. OS is

Oh wait, you crossposted to the postfix list. Please keep the discussion
there going, you have a postfix issue, not a dovecot one ;)

Public Folders
Hi All
I'm trying to implement public folders. My dovecot -n readout is at
the bottom. I created a maildir called resumes in /home/public
Its contents are:

My "%%" variables in the namespace settings do not appear to be expanding.
Hello,
I've been using the dovecot 1.2.x branch server software for a
while now. With the advent of the 2.0.x branch going 'stable' I
decided to attempt a migration and make use of some of the features
that I've not needed before. One of these is the shared
folder/namespace feature. No luck. I've hit a wall and can not
determine the problem. At the

dovecot lda bouncing postfix aliases
Recently configured postfix to use the dovecot lda as I wanted to use
sieve. Got that working a few days ago but noticed that I wasn't getting
any emails to aliases. Checked the logs and saw messages like:

SASL plain authentication failed; unable to lookup user record
i'll guess the solution to my problem will be something simple and
obvious, because i know i ain't the first person to do this and it ain't
all that complicated, but i've been staring at it for days and can't see
what's wrong.

Kmail client desconnection
Hi all,
I have a Postfix+Dovecot working in beta/testing; it seems to run very
fine, but one beta-tester user says that kmail informs him about
frequent desconnections.
My dovecot -a shows:

question: dovecot lda running as special user (vmail) or normal user (marcel)?
Dear Mailing List,
(version and dovecot -n at the bottom)
(Sorry for the bad English in this mail :) )
I'm new to dovecot and wanted to build my own mailserver using
dovecot+postfix.
I currently have a Problem with Permissions with my mailfolder.
I could solve it easily if i set it with chmod to 777. but thats no real
solution.
While reading my log files i see a lot messages like:

dsync: assert panic on mbox // no INBOX sync on hybrid mbox/maildir
Hi,
replying to my own issue:
The dsync crash seems to be triggered when there are emails to copy in
both directions, and it's fairly clear from comments in the code that
it should be releasing a read lock before trying to grab a write lock.
A work-around for the crash was doing a one-way sync manually. This
allowed the process to complete and my setup is now replicating
properly. I guess

Strange behavior from shared namespaces and INBOX, probably a bug
Hi,
we have experienced some erratic behavior from Dovecot 2.0.15 if a user's INBOX
is shared.
Some folders of user1, including the INBOX, have been shared using these IMAP commands:
. login user1 XXXXXX
. setacl INBOX user2 lrwstiekx
. setacl box-a user2 lrwstiekx
Now if we use telnet to log in as user2 and select "shared/user1", it will contain the same
mails as
