samba problem with kernel 2.6.32-279.*
Hello, We use Norton Ghost, running in a PXE booted DOS, to handle Windows XP images. The images are stored on a samba share on our CentOS 6 server. This has worked without any problems for years. After kernel 2.6.32-279* it has stopped working. The symptom is that if I boot in DOS, and do: net use x: \\myserver\ghostimages dir x: I get an infinite loop where the first file name is listed

v4l
Hi, folks. Ever since we brought some of our servers up to 6.x, where the gspca module comes with the kernel, instead of us building it, we've been seeing problems. One system gives very strange loops - someone walks through, then repeat a few times, then the next motion, etc. The current problem is that one camera went out on a different server (it's 6.2, and I'm hoping to bring

v4l audio
Hello all - I'm out of my element with multimedia, can anyone point me in the right direction? I've a pchdtv-3000 card I am trying to record from. I can successfully record audio/video using streamer or watch television with audio using tvtime, so I know the audio is there. I want to record directly to theora. I am trying to do so using ffmpeg2theora like so: ffmpeg2theora --v4l

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
Hi, I have exactly the same problem that you experienced in Nov, 2013. I am using ext4 with journaled quota and the quota usage is only updating when I run quotacheck manually. Have you found a solution? Regards, Alex > I have set up user quotas on an ext4 filesystem. It does not appear that > the quota system is being updated, except when I manually run quotacheck. > > More detail:

V4L + Theora small app...
Hi all. I post a small app I made that create 2 clips using a V4L device. I would like to get every tips you think it's useful... Some notes: - I make 2 clips because in our project we create series of clips and it's important to check that the all the resources ( memory, descriptors, etc. ) are freed correctly and to reuse all the resources that can be reused - the clips are not well

display problem running under vmware
I'm running an up-to-date CentOS 6 virtual machine in a VMWare player on a Windows box and I cannot set the display resolution to anything higher than 1280x720. Windows shows the screen resolution on this monitor to be 1920x1080. I do have VMWareTools installed although I'm not certain it is installed correctly. How can I tell? It is version 8.8.4-743747. I'm not sure if this is a

CentOS 6 early panic on ESXi 4.1.0 build 800380
I run VMware vSphere 4 Essentials with three almost identically configured ESXi 4.1 hosts and a mix of 32 and 64 bit guests including Windows 2003 and 2008 as well as CentOS 5 and 6. Recently I updated one of the hosts to build 800380. The new build runs Windows and CentOS 5 VMs fine, but CentOS 6 guests won't come up. I tried two different CentOS 6 VMs. Both have the latest standard kernel

Xen IBM X3400 boots dead
I am attempting to install a Xen solution on an IBM X3400.  The raid card is the IBM M1015 which is based on the LSI 9220-8I. I followed the directions on the tutorial called "RHEL6 Xen4 Tutorial" at http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/RHEL6_Xen4_Tutorial .  When I attempt to boot the kernel the computer freezes. I don''t get any errors or anything helpful. I have also attempted to

Configure dovecot to provide SASL authentication
Hi, I'm trying to get dovecot to provide SASL authentication for postfix My setup appears to be working but I'm not 100% certain I've got it right. I've come across several examples for dovecot version 1 but I'm running 2.0.9. The output of doveconf -n is here : 2.0.9: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.x86_64 x86_64 CentOS release 6.3 (Final)

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
I have set up user quotas on an ext4 filesystem. It does not appear that the quota system is being updated, except when I manually run quotacheck. More detail: I run "warnquota -s" from a script in /etc/cron.daily. I noticed that no one had received an "over quota" message in a long time. Using "repquota -as", it indeed looked as though everyone was under their

Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill Init!
Just installed CentOS 6.3 from a minimal install disc. All was well, so I ran a yum update, as well as installed some additional packages (mysql, httpd, libjpeg, libpng, and more that I don't remember off the top of my head). Went to reboot the machine and now it won't book up. As it starts to boot, says: Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! Pid: 1, comm: init Not
