wxruby2 problems
Hello,
I''ve recently installed wxruby2 (version 1.9.4) from a precompiled
mswin32 gem. It seems to work fine, and the samples in the
distribution all work, but I have a couple of peculiar problems:
1) When I package a trivial wxruby script with rubyscript2exe, the
executable is huge - 8.5 MB. With previous versions of wxruby (prior
to wxruby2, I think) it was much smaller. Less than 3

CheckListBox : delete method bug !
Hi,
I''ve practically finished a patch for removing the limitation of
CheckListBox (http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/wxruby-development/2007-October/000973.html)
but I just discovered a new bug related with this control !!
I need to redefine the delete method to take into account the deletion
of the associated data. The problem is that if I just redefine this
method and simply call super,

Running code after a modal dialog is shown
Hi all,
I''m looking for a way to get a block of code to execute once a modal
dialog has been displayed (via a call to show_modal.) I was hoping to
find some event that would fire when the window was shown, but the only
one that seemed vaguely promising (evt_window_create) seems to do nothing
at all, at least in my environment (Ruby 1.9.1 on Win32, wxruby 2.0.1.)
Here''s a

'Are you sure?' custom dialog not exiting cleanly
The following program does not exit cleanly after pressing ''Yes'' when asked
''Are you sure''?
How do I free up the resources after exiting? You can use wxsugar (xrcise)
to try out this mini program
if you wish to create sample1.rb . Thank you.

wxRuby 1.9.1 and id accessor consistency problem
Hi all,
wxRuby 1.9.1 introduced great Rubish style accessors (x.label as a synonym
for x.get_label).
I just found that get_id has no corresponding Rubish style id accessor.
For a CheckListBox or a StaticText (I haven''t checked for other kind of
controls), id just returns the Ruby object_id.
This is very confusing and not consistent with other accessors.

FlexGridSizer question
=begin
I am trying to understand how FlexGridSizer works and I have written a small
test application using the latest wxRuby 0.4.0 on Win XP (Home).
I cannot get static text ''Week'', ''Day'' and ''Date'' line up above the OK button.
I have tried all combinations of ALIGN flags, but I either got the text sticking
far too close to the left edge of

This is a long-awaited request from several users especially for

Cheers.

Troubles with ListBox and CheckListBox events
Hi all,
Here is an excerpt of code (with the new syntax from upcoming wxRuby 1.9.2) :
evt_checklistbox(my_checklist, :on_checklistbox)
evt_listbox(my_checklist, :on_listbox)
evt_listbox(my_list, :on_listbox)
def on_checklistbox(event)
checklist = event.event_object

Different (tree) event behaviors across platforms
Hi all,
I''m currently writing a simple outliner application as a tutorial on
wxRuby (both will be soon released ;-) )
I tested this application on Windows and Linux and found that the tree
event behavior :
- is sometime strange on each platform
- is also different on each platform
Even if I managed to take care of these differences in the
application, I''m just wondering if :

Layout Issue ...
The following program represents the basic layout of my application. The
problem I have is that the panel, and thus, the grid does not resize
when the window width is expanded.
Also, I would like the entire grid to be displayed without the
horizontal scroll bar. How can I force this behavior?
Please tell me if I am going about this incorrectly. I am just getting
familar with wxRuby and any

How to use evt_update_ui wrt RichTextCtrl ?
Hi,
I''m trying to create a very simple RichTextCtrl sample based on the C++ version.
This works pretty well now with the fixes for missing
RichTextCtrl.selection_bold? ... methods.
See the attached script.
Given the formatting buttons (bold, italics, underlined), I can type
text with the proper formatting, select some text and apply a
formatting later ...

Adding more sugar to wxSugar
Hi all,
New wxRuby event handling offers the choice between using blocks or
methods seamlessly and easily. This is great respectively for simple
app and more complex app.
Nevertheless, currently the creation of an application, a frame, or a
dialog is very tedious for simple app :
- you need to create a subclass of Wx::App, Wx::Frame ...
- you need to put the initialization code in the initialize

Compatibility Issues?
I''m running Ruby 1.9.1 (Win32) and I installed the
wxruby-1.9.10-x86-mswin32-60 gem.
But when I try to run a script with it, I get an error, "This

I also get this output:
