Problem communicating from server to client
Hello,
I've set up a tinc "server" named "spitzer" in proxy arp mode, and a
client "inspiron" that connects to it.
inspiron runs tinc 1.0.16, spitzer runs 1.0.11.
Ping and ssh from inspiron to spitzer and other hosts in the network
(via spitzer) works fine.

NFS4 over tinc hangs
Hello,
I am experiencing system hangs when running NFSv4 over a tinc VPN. I
don't know if the problem is with NFS or tinc and would appreciate any
suggestions on how to narrow down the culprit. Unfortunately I cannot
simply run NFS directly over TCP -- the participating systems are
connected only over an open network.
The configuration is as follows: I have a master server

self-heal trouble after changing arbiter brick
Hi Karthik,
Thank you for your reply. The heal is still undergoing, as the /var/log/glusterfs/glustershd.log keeps growing, and there's a lot of pending entries in the heal info.
The gluster version is 3.10.9 and 3.10.10 (the version update in progress). It doesn't have info summary [yet?], and the heal info is way too long to attach here. (It takes more than 20 minutes just to collect

Hi Karthik,
Thank you very much, you made me much more relaxed. Below is getfattr output for a file from all the bricks:

With smb.conf below, samba 3.0.1pre3 is capable of connecting to itself

Samba as the Trusted Domain
I have samba-3.0.2 with tdbsam (I don't remember why I moved on
to tdbsam from smbpasswd but something in the past must have required
it).
When trying to add trusting domain according to Samba HOWTO Collection,
page "clxxxvii" (why the heck the pages have such strange Roman hashes
instead of numbers?):

plaintext backend
Hello
I would like to use plaintext backend with a simple Samba 3.0.6
configuration to get rid of the system of double passwords and rely just
on the plain old unix /etc/passwd ones.
However I couldn't find any information about it in
1) man smb.conf
2) online Samba official HOWTO
I tried putting passdb backend = plaintext into a smb.conf file with
security=share and the Samba server

heimdal and mit incompatability when using GSSAPI
My college is kerberized, and so in many situations authentication is both faster and more secure using kerberos tickets. Sadly I have run into a problem.
The Heimdal included in FreeBSD seems to be incompatible with my school's servers running MIT kerberos when authenticating over gssapi.
For example ssh in verbose mode returns:
debug2: we sent a gssapi-with-mic packet, wait for reply

Documentation bug? domadm privileges
Hello
I have been solving a problem how to make a nonroot user able to administer
the domain (add users, groups, modify them etc.) from Windows workstation
using usrmgr.exe
It looks like what is stated in Samba HOWTO collection as prerequisites
is not enough.
First I found Chapter 12 cxl "How to make Samba PDC users member of the Domain
Admins group" - made the nonroot user member of

[LLVMdev] GSoC proposal: New front-end
Hello.
I would like to know if writing a new front-end for a widely-used
programming language (in my case, Oberon) is a valid proposal for
GSoC. By the way, I'm porting the original Wirth's Oberon compiler and
I think that making available a translator for this language with an
industrial-quality backend would make it a more interesting choice for
many projects.
Best regards.

20s delay with nsswitch winbind
Hello
I have installed winbind into nsswitch according to Samba HOWTO Chapter
21 Winbind: Use of Domain Accounts.
However when I log in from console as unix user (who hasn't any account
in the samba) I get a 20s delay.
This is what the 12th console says:

Unexpected network failure

network error expected" after asking me for username and password for
the share (which I enter correctly). What can be the problem?
