Dualstack IPv4/IPv6 setup with directors
Hi,
still using 2.2.9, I've two directors, and these directors
use both IPv4/IPv6 addresses.
`host directors.<domain>` returns one A and AAA for each
of the two directors:
directors.<domain> has address 149.x.y.96 (director1)
directors.<domain> has address 149.x.y.97 (director2)
directors.<domain> has IPv6 address

Director and CRAM-MD5
Hello,
i have a setup with two director servers pointing to two backends. I
don't care that much for load balancing, my main goal is high availability.
CRAM-MD5 auth is working fine if I connect directly to the backends, but
the director only supports AUTH=PLAIN because of the static passdb.
director config:

ioloop.c panic
Timo,
Just this morning I upgraded from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 (hg changeset
66a523135836). A few hours later we had some power problems that caused
the networking to drop out at one site. The directors on the surviving
site all had a few imap-login processes crash with the following error:

So it should work in a way that host=<hostname> and hostip=<ip> is sent. I thought my patch did that.. Normally auth_debug=yes would be enough to debug this, but

Dear all,
We would like to setup, if possible, for example:
We have 4 example groups, we various users in those groups:

So basically, we want 2

adding servers to director_mail_servers
Is there a specific order in which one has to add servers to director_mail_servers, Let's say I have 20 loadbalanced director servers (I dont, but for arguments sake). I want to add 5 servers to director_mail_servers. If I do this by restarting each director server 1 by 1 with an updated conf, it seems the 5 new servers dont get added. Or at least I dont get what makes it work eventually.

Director/Doveadm: Trying to iterate users, but userdbs don't support it
Hi
I'm doing: doveadm force-resync -S director1:1234 -A "*"
The director gives this error:

support it
Jul 06 16:17:29 doveadm: Error: User listing returned failure
Jul 06 16:17:29 doveadm: Error: Failed to iterate through some users
The director has "iterate_query" set

TLS communication director -> backend with X.509 cert checks?
Hello,
using Dovecot 2.2.9 and a setup with directors and backends.
The communication between directors and backends needs to be TLS
secured.
The director config contains a list of hostnames for the backends.
(implicit list because of multiple A/AAAA records for a single hostname
or explicit list of several host names)
On connection setup from a client the director connects to the

In-site migration from /etc/passwd to LDAP
I'm doing in-site migration of accounts from /etc/passwd to an LDAP
directory. The migration should be progressive (not all users at the
same time).
I'm already able to check mail for accounts in /etc/passwd and accounts
in LDAP.
The problem is with mail delivery. I'm using Postfix + Dovecot-LDA. This
is the error I get with every delivery

LMTP proxy does not pass RCPT TO: ... 5xx response back
Hello,
I'm using dovecot 2.2.9 and a director/backend setup.
On the director I've the LMTP in proxy mode, mapping the users to one of
the backends.
The backends to quota check and return the OverQuota message already at
RCPT TO time.
Here is what I typed, connected to the director

Director problems
Hi,
I've just setup a testing enviroment for director, and it's not working
as expected. I have just 1 director (called director) and 2 dovecot
servers (dovecot1 and dovecot2); these are exact copies.
First problem: when both dovecot servers are up, every imap connection
is redirected to the same server as you can see here:
$ sudo doveadm director map

Error: connect(ipc-proxy) failed: Permission denied
Hello:
We have got 2 directors and three backend mailbox servers.
I get the following error " Error: connect(ipc-proxy) failed: Permission denied".

and we have done as signaled in the two director servers with no success,
So, we have tried now to set it like this:

Dovecot in-house benchmarking
Hi,
Before some major changes in our infrastructure, I was interested in
the performance impact of moving indexes to our NAS (Emc Celerra
v5.5). So I downloaded both dovecot-1.1.19 and dovecot-1.2.6, compiled
them and wrote 2 confs for each of them, one with local indexes and
another with indexes in the NAS.
Then I created 19 pam users, and tested system performance this way:
- uninstall
