[PATCH 0/9] build: Require OCaml >= 4.02.
Per my previous email: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00203.html I'd like to talk about requiring a more modern version of the OCaml compiler. These commits show some of the code changes which would be possible with OCaml >= 3.12 [which it turns out we already require by accident] and also with OCaml >= 4.02. The latter is my favoured option. Rich.

[PATCH 0/7] Add tar compress, numericowner, excludes flags.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=847880 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=847881 This patch series adds various optional arguments to the tar-in and tar-out commands. Firstly (1/7) an optional "compress" flag is added to select compression. This makes the calls tgz-in/tgz-out/txz-in/txz-out deprecated, and expands the range of compression types available.

[PATCH v2 0/7] Add symbol versioning (now working).
This rather more complex patch series adds symbol versioning (7/7 shows it in action). This works for me, tested by running old and new virt-inspector binaries against the new library. Rich.

[PATCH 0/2 NOT WORKING] Symbol versioning
John, This was my attempt to add symbol versioning to the library, letting us break ABI without breaking any existing callers. Unfortunately it doesn't work: - the new versioned symbols are marked local in libguestfs.so - the existing symbols should now have @GUESTFS_0.0 versions, but don't The documentation for this stuff is extremely thin, and I've got a bad case of

[PATCH WIP] Can't generate argv variant
Hi everyone, lately I've been getting familiar with library and working on slight re-layering of the library. It's about having locking layer in public API and tracing one layer below that (let's call it __t_ layer. I'm not very good at making up names, so this is temporary:) ). Then making sure that all generated public stuff call __t_ layer and all other internal stuff

[PATCH 0/5] Add support for thread-safe handle.
This patch isn't ready to go upstream. In fact, I think we might do a quick 1.30 release soon, and save this patch, and also the extensive changes proposed for the test suite[1], to after 1.30. Currently it is not safe to use the same handle from multiple threads, unless you implement your own mutexes. See: http://libguestfs.org/guestfs.3.html#multiple-handles-and-multiple-threads These

[PATCH 3/3] python: Allow bindings to be compiled with different version of libguestfs (RHBZ#1262983).
Patch to fix: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1262983 Note this won't help until the first two patches get backported to the stable branches, since <guestfs.h> won't define the necessary GUESTFS_HAVE_* macros. Rich.

GObject bindings
This is the first iteration of the GObject bindings. I have 'kicked the tyres' on these, meaning I have ensured that a bunch of basic manual tests work as expected. I'm in the process of adding more comprehensive tests. Here's an example simple javascript program which uses these bindings: === const Guestfs = imports.gi.Guestfs; print('Starting'); var g = new

[PATCH 0/4] add GUID validation (RHBZ#1008417)
Hi, this patch serie adds a new GUID type in the generator, which would do the same as String, but also validating (just in the C output) the passed GUID string. This allows to reject invalid GUIDs before passing them to low-level tools. Previous discussion here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-June/thread.html#00048 v2: - Use a cleanup handler to release the lock. - Rebase to upstream. Note I have not fixed the problem(s) with error handling (patch 3).

[PATCH 2/9] ocaml: Replace pattern matching { field = field } with { field }.
If you have a struct containing ?field?, eg: type t = { field : int } then previously to pattern-match on this type, eg. in function parameters, you had to write: let f { field = field } = (* ... use field ... *) In OCaml >= 3.12 it is possible to abbreviate cases where the field being matched and the variable being bound have the same name, so now you can just write: let f {

[PATCH] generator: Share Common_utils code.
For a very long time we have maintained two sets of utility functions, in mllib/common_utils.ml and generator/utils.ml. This changes things so that the same set of utility functions can be shared with both directories. It's not possible to use common_utils.ml directly in the generator because it provides several functions that use modules outside the OCaml stdlib. Therefore we add some
