Hi Jeremy,
I got some info on that topic from the illumos devs:

gencache.tdb: device busy
I added LOG statements to mutex.c printing the strerror from the return values.
From
ret = pthread_mutexattr_init(&ma); in line 570
I got errorno 16 --> device busy.
But due the manual of pthread_mutex_attr_init() there should only be ENOMEM and EINVAL...
Doing gdb smbd -> run
Doe not reveal anything, but I never used gdb for debugging anything. I just gave it a shot...

Status 58 trying to connect WinCE 4.1 to Samba 3.0.23c-2.el5.2
Hello everyone. I've recently replaced a file server
running Samba 2.2.8a on Solaris 8 with one running
3.0.23c-2.el5.2 on CentOS 5. I'm trying to set up a
WinCE 4.1 device (A V56 Makino milling center with a
Pro 5 controller) to work with the new configuration
and I can't get it figured out. When I try to do a
'net use share1 \\server\share', it responds with

stock openjdk vs. epel
If you have the epel repo installed and enabled during a yum update, you
get java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.0.b12.el5.2 instead of the stock .b09
version. Is this intentional and desirable? I thought epel generally
did not replace stock components with newer versions.

issue with fruit:model not using avahi correctly?
hey folks,
I am trying to change the fruit:model value for changing the icon in the mac os finder.
After digging a little bit in the source code I saw that "source3/smbd/avahi_register.c" does not contain a line where info like
<service>
<type>_device-info._tcp</type>
<port>0</port>
<txt-record>model=RackMac</txt-record>
is added to avahi.

Networking issues in host
I've been having intermittent network issues on my Host - they go away when
I stop and disable libvirtd and then reboot. They do not go away if I just
stop libvirtd and don't reboot.
I'm at a loss as to where to start with my troubleshooting, and being a
relative n00b to libvirt, I'd love any pointers.

Richard

speed and connection problems after samba upgrade - RH 5 -> RH 5.1, samba 3.0.23c -> 3.0.25b
Hi,
recently we upgraded a central RHEL 5 fileserver to the latest RH EL 5.1
rpms, including samba. (samba-3.0.23c-2.el5.2 update to
samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4)
Now some users have the problem, that opening a word or excel file saved
on a samba share takes up to 30 seconds. Today I could verify this on
the users desktop XP PC.
This problem occures only from time to time, so it may be also a

Can copy to test share, but not read, move or delete
I have a new SentOS 5 system and have been having problems with Samba.
I had been able to access my test share but not my home share.
Attempting to re-set thigns as describe by the "webmin configure samba"
info resluted in being able to see everything but the home shares. I
don't know if I could have copied or written to these other directories
- didn't try. Continued

Missing autofs update for C5?
Hi,
the last released autofs update for Centos 5 is version
autofs-5.0.1-0.rc2.55.el5.1. On 2007-12-20 upstream released version
autofs-5.0.1-0.rc2.55.el5.2.
As several other updates were released in the meantime maybe the
autofs update has been overlooked?
Best regards,
Bernd.

Winbindd periodical timeout issue
Hey,
I've got an issue with winbindd seeming to periodically fail to resolve user/group names from an AD setup. I'm getting the following error, the error seems to occur when I try to access a the samba server OR a directory that uses AD dependent ACLs/permissions. The server will stall for around 30-40 seconds and then it all seems to work perfectly (though I haven't yet determined

Using qemu-kvm divre snapshot option
Hi,
looking at the qemu-kvm man page, it is possible to enable
snapshot for a given drive. This is what we need because we would like to start a domain
with two drives, one on a file with snapshot=on and an other drive on LVM with snapshot=off.
Unfortunately it seems that if you use libvirt the same option is not available when you define the domain with a XML file.
I mean, I didn't find

Upstream qemu still doesn't have persistent dirty bitmap tracking
working yet; once
