No joy from Wx::App.dispatch, Wx::App.yield...
OK, back with another iteration of the same problem... I updated my game demo, but the Close button failed to respond when (and only when) there were too many objects onscreen. The drawing loop is probably lasting longer than my drawing timer interval. I was able to reproduce the problem in my (probably familiar by now) test script just by boosting the number of lines drawn per frame. After

Tearing in my buffered animation test script...
OK, I have a basic blit demo working (thanks to Alex Fenton for his reply, which I finally saw). However, there''s a great deal of "tearing" on the screen - flickering grey lines in the black background. It looks like the blit isn''t always complete when the screen refreshes. Can anyone look at this and tell me what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be most

wxRuby: MemoryDC problems...
I''m trying to put together a quick test of buffered animation with WxRuby, but I''m encountering a fair amount of trouble... I''m drawing to a Wx::Bitmap first, then using Wx::DC#draw_bitmap to copy it to a Wx::Window. But I get the following error: C:/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/wxruby-1.9.1-i386-mswin32/lib/wx/classes/bitmap.rb:18:in `draw'': uninitialized

How to get a Window handle from another app?
Hello, I would like to get a window handle from another app outside of wxRuby and convert it into a wxRuby Window handle so that I can use it as the parent Window for several wxRuby child windows. Basically I want to use the FRAME_FLOAT_ON_PARENT window style so that my wxRuby windows become associated with the outside app kind of like toolbars, e.g., they don''t show up in the

Drawing
Anyone know how to draw in wxRuby? I want to draw a graph, and have it update as new data comes in. I see stuff about Device Contexts, but I can''t find anything about how to use them, associate them with a panel, or anything like that. -Kurt

Building wxruby on Solaris 9
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.1 Solaris 9 wxwindows 2.4.2 (package from blastwave.org) wxruby 0.3.0 I''m having trouble getting this sucker to build on my Solaris box. Here''s how I''m building: ruby extconf.rb --with-xrc-dir=/opt/csw --with-xrc-include=/opt/csw/lib/wx The include directive I added because the setup.h file is there (for whatever reason). And yes, /opt/csw/bin and

wxruby-swig problem: MDIChildFrame::Maximize
I just grabbed the latest wxruby-swig from cvs and tried to compile it (without enabling the SWIG step) on my gentoo Linux box. I get: g++ -c -I/usr/lib/wx/include/gtk2-2.4 -DGTK_NO_CHECK_CASTS -D__WXGTK__ -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGE_FILES -O2 -march=athlon-xp -fPIC -I /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rake-0.4.8/bin -I /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rake-0.4.8/lib -I

Open call to try wxruby-swig
Hi Everyone, Over the past couple of weeks wxruby-swig has made a lot of progress. Over 100 classes have been added with attempts to mimic the existing wxruby interfaces. While still not as stable as wxruby, stability has increased dramatically. Finally, it has been built on Linux, Mac, and MSVC. This email is an invitation to try out wxruby-swig for yourself. The source code is in CVS and

Equivalent to before(:all) for StepGroups?
I have a helper object that I''d like to have available inside each of my story steps, but would like to declare it *outside* all the steps. (It knows how to create various objects in my library, then stores a string reference to it for later steps to refer to.) Problem is, I''ve tried assigning to a module variable both inside and outside my steps_for block, and I get an error

Is wxRuby-SWIG version usable enough to package for download?
If wxRuby-SWIG is as usable as wxRuby 0.6.0, maybe it should be given a version number and packaged up for download. Given the nature of SWIG, having a lot more people use it would probably result in more code contributions to this project. Seems most of the changes are 2+ months old, so I''m guessing wxRuby-SWIG is fairly stable right now in terms of frequency of changes...

Then I brought it to a new site and it no worky. Yes, the DOMAIN is different and I have been battling all day to reconfigure this thing to the domain. I have lost the battle and have reverted to basic configs which still do not

apache -> pen -> mongrel cluster
Hi everyone, Recently, I''ve been reading about different deployment environments for rails and mongrel. One configuration I''ve started seeing is apache -> pen -> mongrel cluster. See http://errtheblog.com/post/35 as an example. Can someone explain to me the benefit of using Apache and Pen as opposed to either using apache as a load balancer or pen by itself?
