Dsync clustering
I have not seen mention of using dsync for clustering Dovecot in some
time on the mailing list, but I believe Timo was going to write a wiki
page when v2.2 became more mature. Does this documentation exist yet,
or are there any resources on what dsync replication is capable of at
this point (looking on the wiki and google didn't reveal much)? Thank
in advance.

how-to use dsync to do a 2 ways replication ?
Hi,
I want to set-up two dovecot imap servers, with active-active replicated
maildirs. The goal is to have a hosted public server on Internet, and a
private server on my LAN to speed-up local connections.
So I compiled dovecot 2.0 beta 1 in order to use dsync utility...
Actually my config is pretty simple as I just want to setup a proof of
concept before going ahead in this way :

dovecot 2.2.x and replication with dsync and shared / public namespace
Hi,
I'm trying to configure replication with dsync on Dovecot 2.2.5 (and
latest nightly).
I did followed the guide at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication
But I can get dsync-server working only if my users do not have access
to shared mailboxes and / or public mailboxes which is problematic for
our setup.
dsync-server is trying to create folders in public/ namespace :

Replication fails with "Remote dsync doesn't use compatible protocol"
I can't get replication to work in Dovecot 2.2.1. I'm getting the
following error on the machine where I'm initiating the replication:
richatwork dovecot: doveadm: Error: dsync-remote(richatwork): Error:
dsync(local): Remote dsync doesn't use compatible protocol
Both the local and remote servers are running identical versions of
Dovecot (2.2.1), so I don't understand why I

Using dovecot Replication in a medium to large enterprise.
Good day Guys
Just wanted to pick the communities brain and experience(s) for a second.
At $CORP where I work. My team has inherited a single server mail solution.
We need to look to building a standby / replicated solution.
One of the things we were looking at is https://wiki.dovecot.org/Replication
We have in excess of +/- 500 mail boxes and using just under 1TB of disk
space. That is a

General questions about TCP replication with dsync
Hi Guys,
I would like to question why I see this errors in my logs.
Let explain me!
Dovecot version: 2.2.9 (on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS)
I?ve configured our dovecot servers (2 servers) to do the TCP replication
with dsync.
This is working flawless.
1. Question:
In logs I can see this errors on every sync (on the ?slave? server / server
without changes which should be updated):

Trying Dovecot Replication with dsync
Hi,
I have a failover cluster for mail server with:
Ubuntu12.04 + DRBD (for block replication) + Ext4 filesystem
+ Dovecot-2.0.19-2 with Mdbox
It works fine with ~50k accounts. My cluster design:
http://adminlinux.com.br/cluster_design.txt
I plan to test Dovecot Replication with dsync to build an active/active
cluster with load balancing. Can anyone direct me to some literature? A

Public folders and dsync replication Dovecot v2.1.7
Dear all
I have a few public folders setup and working fine, and one such public
folder is 'Public/General'. I'm trying to sort dsync replication out to
another server and notice that the system log is full of error messages
similar to:

dsync replication does not replicate new subfolders
Hello,
Although this issue has been raised in another thread:
https://www.mail-archive.com/dovecot at dovecot.org/msg57281.html
I decided I should create a new one dedicated on it because that thread
includes other issues as well, and the issue in question still remains
unresolved although it is an important one (and I am hoping to attract
Timo's attention on it, too ;-) ).

Dovecot dsync mail replication issues
Hi,
I'm trying to set up some dsync based replication between two hosts on
my network. The current topology is a single server running Postfix
with a single dovecot installation with a Maildir per user (only 4 users
including myself). No NFS, just local system users on ext4. I am only
using system users, ie no virtual users. I am using dovecot deliver to
deliver mails into the

dsync replication available for testing
In dovecot-2.1 hg you can now test dsync-based replication. Everything
isn't finished yet, but it appears to work and I've enabled it for my
@dovecot.fi mails. Some issues:
- public namespace isn't replicated at all
- shared namespace is replicated, but not private mail flags
- I've only tested SSH replication setup now, not director replication
setup (and director setup

Replication fails with dsync-server(admin@asergis.com): Error: Couldn't create lock /home/admin/.dovecot-sync.lock: No such file or directory
Hello
I have configured replication using dsync. It fails with a message
Error: Couldn't create lock /home/admin/.dovecot-sync.lock: No such file
or directory
This directory predictably does not exist - all my users are supposed to
be virtual.? I can not find an option to switch this off. At the same
time if I try manual replication I get segfault error

dsync replication questions
I am running two servers with Dovecot v2.2.12 on CentOS x86_64 (5.10 and
6.5 respectively) and users are virtual over ldap.
I have setup our main internal server (vmail.example.com) with dsync
replication according to the first part of
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication. The second one
(vmail1.example.com) will be the failover server which we want to be a

Dsync replication one-way
Hi all,
I know that I can do a backup using doveadm:
doveadm backup -u user ssh backup.server doveadm dsync-server -u user
But it's possible to use replicator service to do the same job? Or dsync
with replicator can only be used in a two-way environment?
Thanks,

dsync replication errors
Hi
I'm trying to build a cluster of two servers with dsync replication
(based on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication). My test setup works
fine for very simple tests, I can log in to both servers, copy a
message to one of the servers and it successfully apperars in the other
account. But, if I try to copy a large amount of messages at once to
one of the accounts, my maillogs get flodded with

Preparing for replication: dsync-local(testaccount): Panic: file mbox-lock.c
I am preparing a bit for setting up replication. However when I manually
try to dsync an account, the first time I execute this[1] command it
seems to be ok. The 2nd time I am getting this error[2].
If I add -1 (one way syncing) the error disappears. Does this mean I
will have problems with setting up replication between these two
servers?

DSync replication error
Please tell me about Dsync replicator.
The following are set to enable the "replication" plug-in
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf
*---mail_plugins = notify replication---*
And I made the following file
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/30-dsync.conf
*---service replicator { process_min_avail = 1} dsync_remote_cmd = ssh

One way dsync replication with dsync -R
So, even with a particular user only connecting to one node in the pair, you still see the issue? I'm not seeing that in my setup. I only see it when concurrently connecting the same user to two different nodes in the pair.
