Weird behaviour between Windows Vista & Windows 7 VPN - can anyone help?
I am trying to connect a Windows Vista (Home) machine to a Windows 7
(Office) machine. I set up the tinc config files normally, and I am able to
see the Vista (Home) machine from the Window 7 (Office) machine, but I
cannot seem to do the reverse. I am beginning to wonder if this might be a
known issue that someone has seen before.
My configuration is as follows:

New issue, configuring 2 Vista nodes
Hello All,
I am trying to configure 2 Vista nodes. For testing, I put them both on the
same LAN & subnet, and after figuring out that Vista puts the RSA_Key
private File & the Hosts files in a different directory {
\USERS\username\APPDATA\LOCAL\VIRTUALSTORE\PROGRAM FILES\TINC\ (+hosts\) },
I managed to bring up the daemons on both nodes. (I suspect that Windows 7
uses another directory

FW: Windows 7 support? Should I be able to PING over the VPN?
Thanks for the quick reply, Guus.
Well the debug helped a little bit. So did re-reading the manual again. I
think I got further ahead, but unfortunately I still cannot quite get to
complete the connection between the two nodes.
It looks like the two nodes are communicating - they seem to be able to
exchange RSA keys & MetaKeys, but for some reason, they start trying to
exchange data on

Windows 7 support? Should I be able to PING over the VPN?
Hello,
2 questions:
1. I see from the archives that Vista support requires downloading an
updated TAP driver from OpenVPN.net. I have just downloaded tinc 1.0.13 and
was not able to get the TAP driver to work on my Windows 7 computer. Should
I assume that 1.0.13 doesn't have the most current TAP driver and I should
use the one I downloaded from OpenVPN ? There seems to be

FW: New issue, configuring 2 Vista nodes behind Norton Internet Security 2010 Firewalls
Finally resolved the problem, I'm actually impressed with the throughput
over the tinc VPN!
I encountered & resolved two problems during this installation.
First, the config files need to go in different places, depending on whether
you run tinc as a service or in the foreground from a Command Prompt running
as Administrator (C:\Program Files\tinc\...) or if you are running tinc in
the

Fw: New issue, configuring 2 Vista nodes
Yes, I am aware of this. It does not affect my problem; however, I have isolated the problem to the Norton Internet Security Firewall & I am working with their Engineering group to solve it.
Cheers,
Alan

Extracting last time value
I have a dataframe as follows:
Date time value
20110620 11:18:00 7
20110620 11:39:00 9
20110621 11:41:00 8
20110621 11:40:00 6
20110622 14:05:00 8
20110622 14:06:00 6
For every date, I want to extract the row that has the greatest time.
Therefore, ending up like:
20110620 11:39:00 9
20110621 11:41:00 8
20110622 14:07:00 6
I am using for loops (for every date, find largest time value) to do

Vista over VPN loses connection with workgroup
I've a server running CentOS 5, Samba 3.0.23c and OpenVPN-2.1beta4
A laptop running Vista connects to the server over VPN. The CentOS
server is local, domain and preferred master, and also WINS server.
It looks like every once in a while the Vista laptop drops the VPN
connection, which gets re-established soon after that. But the problem
is, it appears that after the dropout the Vista

cp weird behaviour, some copied files differ from original.
Hi.
I know that for the problem that will follow many things other than ext3
are involved, like a kernel upgrade, a possible coreutils mis-behaviour
and other, so I beg your pardon if I'm not in the right place ...
Now the problem. I have met a trouble upgrading web/dns server running
linux.
Precisely, I have upgraded the kernel from 2.4.9 to 2.6.6 and the hard
disk also, from 20Gb to

Weird mouse behaviour (after upgrade to CentOS 6.4?)
Hi.
For a few days now I've had some pretty annoying mouse-related problems
on my CentOS setup. I'm not sure if I get "false" mouse events or what
it is, but quite frequently I find that the system has somehow got into
a state where mouse clicks are not properly received - although I can
move the pointer all right, and they keyboard also works just fine. The

Weird behaviour with /dev/null
Hi,
It took me several hours to figure out what was going wrong with openssh
on my systems.
I had the following situation:
Startet sshd, and it forked several times and then it died without any
meaningful messages.
If is start it with -d it works like a charm.
The root of all these strange problems was that /dev/null was a regular
file instead of the null device (my fault).
Would it be

Very weird behaviour after moving from 32 to 64 bit..
Today I decided to reintall Ubuntu on my PC, going from Lucid Linx 32 bit to a clean install of the 64 bit version..
I'm a huge fan of casual games, and now I have a number of problems with them.
At first I could get NOTHING to work, after a couple of tries I finally get something to work, I can have Braid working, but I can't seem to make Plat versus Zombies work, I managed to make

Weird SIP behaviour
Hi All,
I've been observing a very odd behaviour of Asterisk, when relating to SIP
connections.
Here's the scenario:
Ast1 is an Asterisk box originating calls via a predictive dialer
Ast2 is an Asterisk box connected to 3E1 circuits
Ast1 originates calls to Ast2 via SIP, in order to utilize the PSTN lines.
(There is a reason
I'm using SIP here, so please don't say:

Asterisk database weird behaviour
I am using realtime architecture in my Asterisk 11.3.0 system; for cdr,
dialplan, sip accounts, voicemail and queues. My database (on separate
machine) is postgres 8.4 in drbd cluster with one active and one passive
node controlled by corosync and pacemaker. So 99% of my sip accounts is
defined in realtime, but I also have some statically in sip.conf

weird behaviour of sip history and sip debug

I am using Asterisk 12.4.0 on debian 7.6 x64
I experience some troubles with some specific calls, so I want to dig
into this as deep as possible
I run these CLI commands:

> sip set debug peer 501 (answer: SIP Debugging Enabled for IP: ...)
> sip set debug peer 502 (answer: same with another IP)

Weird behaviour of ifcfg scripts
Hi,
I accidentally found that the existence of a file e.g. named
ifcfg-eth1:1 put in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ leads to the
appropriate interface being created even with the option 'ONBOOT' set to
'no':
DEVICE="eth1:1"
BOOTPROTO="static"
NM_CONTROLLED="no"
ONBOOT="no"
TYPE="Ethernet"
