Hi...
Tinc v1.0.13 works fine on Windows XP but Tinc v1.0.14 shows only an error
message (tinc -n xxx -d5 -D). The error message is "System command

REGARDING TO DOWNGRAING OCFS FROM 1.0.14-1 TO 1.0.9-12
Hi, all.
My name is Kenichiro Ochi, in Oracle Japan Support.
Customer examines upgrading OCFS from 1.0.9-12 to 1.0.14-1.
And customer asked us a question about the way of downgrading to 1.0.9-12.
(customer presumes a case in case after the upgrade.)
We tested the following...
0.After the upgrade
1.umount OCFS volume on all nodes
2.uninstall rpm (V1.0.14-1)
# rpm -e ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1
# rpm

Tinc CPU usage
Hi, I'm using Tinc v1.0.11 on Ubuntu 10.04 and seeing high CPU usage (up
to 30%) on what I wouldn't consider high traffic levels.
The traffic is application server to database server connections and
multicast communication for session-replication on the application server.
I'm running the tinc daemons in switch mode, to support the multicast. I
have tried settings:

"Possible intruder" warning
Hello,
I'm using tinc for a few years now and that this is my first post to this list
tells a lot about the quality of tinc, I think. It's just great, thanks a lot
for your fine work!
Recently I've discovered these messages in my syslog:

Security issue #5: mail_extra_groups setting is often used insecurely
mail_extra_groups=mail setting is often used insecurely to give Dovecot
access to create dotlocks to /var/mail directory. If you don't use
mboxes in /var/mail, make sure this setting is cleared.
If you do use /var/mail mboxes and Dovecot gives permission errors
without it, do one of the following (in the preferred order):
a) Upgrade to v1.0.11 and use the new mail_privileged_group setting

Any options on crypt+zfs ?
hail,
I have a soekris running an atom and 2GB RAM and ZFS using 7 drives, small capacity though, to
test and study if I can make my home server this box and this way. It will be a simple server,
three users tops.
I followed the handbook and made the geli step on the disks:
Geom name: label/zfs1.eli
State: ACTIVE
EncryptionAlgorithm: AES-XTS
KeyLength: 128
Crypto: software

Security hole #6: Some passdbs allowed users to log in without a valid password
This affects only blocking passdbs:
- MySQL
- PAM, passwd and shadow if blocking=yes
The underlying bug exists in all v1.0.x versions, but I couldn't figure
out a way to exploit it except with v1.0.11, v1.0.12 and v1.1.rc2.
Probably a good idea to upgrade in any case.
The main problem is that Dovecot's internal protocols use TAB character
as a delimiter, but passwords were sent

Ocfs and EMC Powerpath
A couple years ago, we moved to Oracle RAC on Linux using ocfs that is
SAN attached to an EMC CLARiiON. At the time, there was a reason that we
did NOT use EMC's Powerpath (I just can't recall what that reason was).
What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with introducing
Powerpath now.

nearly-tickless-tinc
Hi,
tinc has a fixed timeout of 1 second for select() in the main
loop. I think this could be improved. Do you think the following
patch goes into the right direction ?
I don't know whether pselect() is standard enough (works under
"current" linux, however I don't know about the other arches). Maybe
a config option is necessary.
It's probably possible

Other video modes besides 640x480
I've written the code to switch to the largest available video mode.
As is, it is probably not very useful (because the font is probably
barely legible on a 150dpi display and because I've not modified the
background loading code).
Would it be interesting to develop it further or would it be considered
overbloat ?
If yes, I have the problem of choosing the

Question about set_background
I've traced the code of set_background quite a bit this w.e. and
was wondering what would happen in the __unlikely case where
there is no background for the main menu and one for a submenu.
It looks to me that when the submenu is closed, set_background
will be called with new_background == NULL, that
current_background != NULL inside so that there will be a

how to scale puppet with F5 load balancer?
How can I configure F5 load balancer to be infront of multiple puppet masters?
The SSL will break as the server name if different, hostname of the
VIP on the LB vs hostnames of each masters, right?
Can you shed some light?
Thanks.

zfs drive keeps failing between export and import
I have a zpool that consists for a two-drive mirror. The two times I
took the zpool offline, I had to resilver one of the drives (the same
drive both times) when I imported it back. All drives in the pool
show no read, write, or checksum errors and are new, so I'm looking to
a software problem before hardware. Both drives are encrypted geli
devices. I tried to reproduce the error with 1GB

10th anniversary of tinc 1.0
Hello everyone,
Today is exactly 10 years ago that tinc 1.0 was released. I would have hoped to
celebrate this by releasing 1.0.22 and 1.1pre8 today, but this will instead
happen in one week.
Tinc 1.1 is close to becoming stable, and I hope to release 1.1.0 before the
end of the year. The main features of tinc 1.1 are the improved security over
tinc 1.0, and a much nicer interface that makes it
