P.S. Seems this 2.2.24 is the last win10 compatible version (as my
testserver doesn't have win10 users and thunderbird works well), any
never version gives an error. However I didn't find any hint from
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-news/2016-July/000324.html etc.

how to pick cipher for AES-NI enabled AMD GX-412TC SOC tincd at 100% CPU
Hello everybody,
First a big thanks for tinc-vpn I am still using it next to wireguard
and openvpn.
I am having a setup where the tinc debian appliance is at 100% cpu load
doing about 7.5MB/s.
Compression = 9
PMTU = 1400
PMTUDiscovery = yes
Cipher = aes-128-cbc
How can I pick a cipher that is the fasted for my CPU and don't create a
CPU bottleneck at 100%.
Kind regards,
Jelle de Jong

connecting to non-responding hosts: 1 hr timeout (fwd)
Hello all,
If you try to make a TCP connection to a host, and the host is down,
timeouts can be as long as an hour. This is not specific to ssh, or OS.
Is this a scenario worth working around, e.g. with a timer when
connecting or the like?

[Bug 1131] buffer_append_space: alloc not supported Error with V 4.2p1

------- Comment #5 from dtucker at zip.com.au 2006-02-14 22:17 -------
Also, what compiler did you use to compile OpenSSH? If you compile OpenSSH
(and openssl and zlib if possible) with optimization disabled (-O0) does the
error still occur?

OpenSSH slow on OSX High Sierra (maybe due to libcrypto)?
Hi all.
Is anyone else seeing issues with OpenSSH being slow on OSX High
Sierra? In the interests of better test coverage I set one up,
however the OpenSSH tests take much longer on it than on much older
machines with much slower CPUs. It seems to be due to the
vendor-supplied libcrypto being about 20x slower at bignum operations
than nominally the same version of LibreSSL compiled locally.

Configuration after installation problem
I'm fairly new to wine. I'm running the version (Wine 20050211) that
comes with SuSE 9.3. I had been using the version that came with SuSE
9.1 (Wine 20040213), and recently ran the SuSE 9.3 upgrade installation.
Getting ready to try installing Word Perfect 8.0, I've been reading the
help documents. I recollect a warning not to run wine as root. By
mistake, I did so. When I did, it

3des cipher and DH group size
Hello everybody,
An issue was reported in RH bugzilla [1] about the size of the used DH
group when combined with the 3des-cbc cipher. OpenSSH uses the
actual key length for the size estimation. This is probably fine as far
as the cipher has the same number of bits of security as the key
length. But this is not true for 3TDEA where the key size is 168 resp
192 but it's security is only 112.

sftp Client for Windows XP
Folks,
Excuse my ignorance on the subject but I'm new to OpenSSH and have been
tasked to write a 'sftp' Client for a home-grown application that runs on a
Windows platform.
The answers to my questions is probably on the List Archives but I'm not
able to find it even after a few search attempts.
So here goes...
1. Is it possible to even write a custom 'sftp' client for

------- Comment #18 from cove at wildpackets.com 2006-03-17 09:06 -------
It could be a bug in cryptlib, but I had the same problem with libssh and the
first comment in this bug report is with a 3rd implementation.

Restrict global constructors to base ISA
I'm testing on older OS X 10.8 with older SSE4 hardware from about
2010. I've got updated gear from MacPorts and it includes GCC and
Clang. GCC is the compiler, and Clang is the assembler.
We perform a compile/link on a test file to ensure an ISA is supported
by the toolchain. If an ISA is available then we compile a source file
to the ISA as needed. Then, we guard the higher ISAs at

how to pick cipher for AES-NI enabled AMD GX-412TC SOC tincd at 100% CPU
Hello everybody,
Thank you Fufu Fang for your quick reply:
With tinc version 1.0.35 and the bellow options at 100% CPu load i get
about 10 MB/s...
PMTU = 1400
PMTUDiscovery = yes
#Cipher = none
Cipher = chacha20-poly1305
Digest = blake2b512
Tried Cipher = none as well and also got 10MB/s with 100% CPU on one
thread the other three available threads are idle.

Elliptic curves in tinc
In the past 24 hours multiple persons have contacted me regarding the use of
elliptic curve cryptography in tinc 1.1 in light of the suspicion that the NSA
might have weakened algorithms and/or elliptic curves published by NIST.
The new protocol in tinc 1.1 (SPTPS) uses ECDH and ECDSA to do session key
exchange and authentication, in such a way that it has the perfect forward
secrecy (PFS)
