Installing Google's Picasa for Linux on CentOS 5
I downloaded the .rpm file from Google and am trying to install
Picasa for Linux on CentOS 5. I get the below error. Is this because
I'm using SELinux or because of something else? I found a small
Picasa folder in /opt (24 items, 143.7 KB) but it seems to end there.
Picasa is one of the programs my wife uses on Windows. TIA!

Skype Public Key - How to install PGP Public Key in CentOS5, from alternate site that I have in web browser?
Hello: A simple question: On this Wiki page:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype it says that the normal method for
the Public Key isn't working. I copied the URL for the alternate key
location http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/infosys/phone/skype/rpm-public-key.asc
into the browser and I get a PGP Public Key. Question: What rpm
command do I use, to Import the Public Key that's in the browser

Partioning Error: Dual Boot, WinXP & CentOS5, 27 GB Free space; my error is?
Hello: Starting Friday afternoon, I blew away the installations on the
three (3) boxes we use as Desktops. On two (2) of them (my Dell
Dimension 2400 and my wife's Compaq Evo D300v), I have MS Windows XP
and CentOS5 running. :-) On my daughters box (Dell Dimension 4300)
I am having problems with the partitioning. Probably this is due to
some mistake I have made, with regard to

I will do that! I made that mistake about 2 1/2 years ago, but this
is the first time something tried to install into /opt.

/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file disappeared
On 28 July, I changed from ProtectBase to Priorities. I kept unusually
detailed notes that day. Yesterday, when I added the RPMForge respository,
so I could install MPlayer, I found that the
/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file no longer exists. I'm not sure
how that happened. Question: Is there a way to regenerate that file? TIA

OT: GNOME Panel Menu - Notification Area 2.16.1- operator error
Apparently I clicked wrong this morning and now instead of the menu
(panel) with "Applications, Places, System", etc. being on the right
side of my screen, it is in the middle of the screen, vertically, from
the top. When I click in a vacant place in that menu, the "Properties"
option is no longer there, but I was able to get into "Properties"

OT: Google Earth - How to uninstall, before installing newest version?
Desktop is CentOS 5.4 (32 bit). I have Google Earth version
4.2.205.5730 (13NOV2007 build date) installed. I have checkinstall
(spelling?) installed, but am not sure if that was installed before or
after Google Earth was installed. I have the Google Repository
installed, but apparently Google Earth cannot be updated via yum and
probably it was not installed via yum.
Question: What is the best

OT: Dropbox - Fedora Core 9 RPM will work on CentOS 5.4?
Dropbox has an RPM for Fedora Core 9 (x86). I am running CentOS 5.4 on
my Desktop, which I believe is based on Fedora Core 6. Are the
libraries Fedora Core 9 uses substantially different than those CentOS
5.4 uses? If Dropbox had an SRPM available, I would Download that and
Rebuild, but I'm sure it is Proprietary and they won't release an SRPM
to me. TIA!

Dual boot box: WinXP & CentOS 5: Impossible to restore WinXP?
We rarely use M$ Windows, but I let my daughter surf pbskids.org while
using Windows and a Trojan Horse modified or deleted the user32.dll
file. I found the instructions on the Microsoft Support web site, and
it would be very easy for me to expand a new copy of user32.dll if I
could get the MS WinXP CD to work. It boots OK, I press a key so it
will search hardware and it then has hard drive

The package is OK. I get the same md5sum as you do. As I just wrote to
Arnaud, the problem is that Google is installing into /opt and I had
forgotten that I have /opt as FAT32, so I can safely move

Have you disconnected all your usb hardware before trying the repair? I've repaired my box more times than I can count and the only time I've seen lots of hdd activity is when I had some weird hardware attached.

OT: free DNS service?
I have been using a free DNS service for the past seven (7) years.
This morning, at 4 A.M., , I changed the "A" record for one of my web
sites, to point to an IP address on a different server, so I could
test. After watching the TTL count down from 3600 to zero, with the
"dig" command, it then reset to 3600, but still resolved to the
original IP address. :-) I set the

Asterisk conferencing features
Hello!
I'm new in Asterisk and I hope that my trouble is very simple.
We're implementing a Education Project of a e-Learning system (LMS)
that uses conferencing (video and audio) over internet.
The e-Learning system will be on GPL license, and for that, we're
using only free software to implement.
Asterisk is our first choice for video and audio conferencing, and

package recommendation for video conferencing
Hi.
We have a need for a video conferencing package with the following specs:
- cross platform client support (Linux, Mac, Win)
- server side runs on Centos 5 and later with easy package installation routine (e.g. RPM)
- can host a teleconfernce with no users connected (IOW, it can wait for users to connect at any time)
- supports mulitple users per video conference
Recommendations?
Thanks.
