need an example with 2 different nets
Hi, thanks.
Sorry for the mess with my gmail account...
This made the route go away. But is this the right way to configure tinc?
To give the tinc interface an IP (with 255.255.255.255 subnetmask) from the
local (green)
network it does route the traffic to?
Does it make sense to give the tinc interface an 192.168.0.253 IP, when the
net here is 192.168.0.0/24 on eth1
I can not find such a

tinc on macosx
Hi,
I have macosx 10.5.8 and Tunnelblick (openvpn) installed before.
I have installed tinc using port and got version 1.0.11 (Jun 29 2010

now I have 2 problems:
1) the interface variable from the tinc.conf is not used, instead I have a
tun0 interface (or tap0).
2) the tinc-up script seems to be fired too early as I get an
error: ifconfig: interface /dev/tap0 does not exist

iPhone
Hi,
here [1] is stated, that there is experimental support for ios.
Is there somewhere a howto? Could not find one in the source...
Is it only possible with a jail-broken device or even with a valid developer
account?

Tinc clients behind a NAT, tunnels get unstable
Hi,
I'm running some tinc clients behind a NAT (masquerading, Cisco Router)
connecting to a host outside on a public IP in a different network. The
tunnels get unstable every few minutes and I see packet loss when
pinging the clients on their internal tunnel IPs from the host side.
Before putting the tinc clients behind the NAT they were running on
public IPs too (clients and host in

Packet loss with LocalDiscovery
Hi,
I believe I have found a bug with regard to the LocalDiscovery feature.
This is on tinc-1.1pre7 between two Windows nodes.
Steps to reproduce:
- Get two nodes talking using LocalDiscovery (e.g. put them on the same
LAN behind a NAT with no metaconnection to each other)
- Make one ping the other.
Expected result:
- The two nodes should ping each other without any packet loss,
hopefully at

Network pause issue.
Howdy Folks,
I've got a 5 node setup here. My server "home" is the primary server that all other servers connect to. The configs on all the servers look like this:
# cat /etc/tinc/home/hosts/node1
Subnet = 10.2.0.0/16
Address = 192.168.2.1
<RSA KEY>
# cat /etc/tinc/home/hosts/node2
Subnet = 10.3.0.0/16
Address = 192.168.3.1
<RSA KEY>
Etc. All the hosts are setup

keeping UDP "session" alive when using NAT
I'm running Tinc on a Linux machine inside my home network, connecting
through a NATing router to a Tinc server out on the Internet.
I've noticed that fairly frequently the SSH sessions I leave open (but
unused) get aborted with a "Connection reset by peer" message. When I
investigated closely, I found that after a period of inactivity my
router times out the UDP

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt
style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues
with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up
performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some
reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node.
I created a new tinc instance using TAP

Lots of Flushing x bytes to y would block messages
We run tinc in a linux environment in which it sits there waiting for
connections from the clients. All clients are configured to only have one
ConnectTo which points to this server.
We're seeing in the server log that as soon as a client's connection is
activated, a whole bunch of "Flushing x bytes to that host would block" is
logged and the whole vpn is bogged down and has

Only reaching one machine at network
Hi there,
I am using tinc since some monthes. I think the basic idea of
extending vpn to a mesh of systems via tun/tap is great. And I think
it is one of the useable developments compared to the much more
complex vpn solutions I had used in the past. Great work.
Setting up tinc I have fought with the configuration (and with the
concepts) for a while as I have found no example that covers my

Packet capture to analysis the tinc connection close
And, I ran a constant ping from the tinc client’s IP to the tinc server’s IP, it shows, the pings are all successfully back and forth, no any packet loss during the connection drop happens, so will this help to exclude any NAT/firewall cause the connection drop?
And as you saw from the earlier screen shot, when it happens, it drop all tinc connections, and those connections are for different

ipv6 via tinc
Hi,
At my provider (xs4all) I've got an ipv6 tunnel working. Now I would
like to distribute ipv6 via the tinc tunnel.
My tinc.conf:

ZFS replication send/receive errors out
My full backup script errorred out the last two times I ran it. I''ve got
a full Bash trace of it, so I know exactly what was done.
There are a moderate number of snapshots on the zp1 pool, and I''m
intending to replicate the whole thing into the backup pool.
After housekeeping, I take make a current snapshot on the data pool (zp1).
Since this is a new full backup, I then
