Only reaching one machine at network
Hi there, I am using tinc since some monthes. I think the basic idea of extending vpn to a mesh of systems via tun/tap is great. And I think it is one of the useable developments compared to the much more complex vpn solutions I had used in the past. Great work. Setting up tinc I have fought with the configuration (and with the concepts) for a while as I have found no example that covers my

Route certain trafic via a tinc node that is not directly connected.
Hello again :) Thank you all for your reply's. Below are the config files of the 3 hosts. I useĀ  tinc in router mode. I do not have a kernel mode config lines anywhere so tinc must be using the default settings here. I added the ipaddressx to subnets on hostc and this works. Traffic to that ip is now routed via hostc. But since this ipaddressx address changes often I need to resolve it

Tinc over 3g problems?
Hello, I am experiencing some weird problems in a setup with tinc where communication between the 'server' and the 'clients' occur over 3g connections. Let me describe briefly the setup: - The server, on a public IP, runs tinc 1.0.8, in router mode, and the whole setup uses one VPN network. All client's VPN addresses are on the same subnet, and each client has a seperate

ipv6 via tinc
Hi, At my provider (xs4all) I've got an ipv6 tunnel working. Now I would like to distribute ipv6 via the tinc tunnel. My tinc.conf: ------------ Name=server AddressFamily=ipv4 Device=/dev/net/tun PrivateKeyFile=/etc/tinc/fvhglobalnet/rsa_key.priv GraphDumpFile=|/usr/bin/dot -Tpng -o /var/www/htdocs.keetweej.vanheusden.com/stats/tinc-fvh-network-graph.png Mode=switch KeyExpire=299

BindToAddress stopped working in 1.1pre10
Hello, First of all thank you very much for Tinc. I have been using 1.0.24 under Debian & Alpine Linux 32 bit using 'BindToAddress' in tinc.conf without any issues to bind to an IPv6 ULA Address. With 1.1pre10 'BindToAddress' in tinc.conf on the client machines fails with: ============================================================================== tincd 1.1pre10 (Jun

Missing connection
Hi, I've set up Tinc in switch-mode on the three nodes "gw", "rb493g" and "v900w", but the nodes "rb493g" and "w900v" do not connect to each other. On each node port 655 is opened with TCP and UDP. "gw": static IPv4- and IPv6 address listed in the hosts-file "gw" hosts-files: "gw",

ARP resolution not done from one end
Folks, We have a setup where each mobile node connects with 1 or more tinc instances (over different links) to a central node. tinc is running in switch mode. The link is chosen by setting the IP address on the active link's interface, and the central node sees this after the first packet on the link, and moves the MAC address to a different 'ethernet port' (link). This works really

Routing between two tunnels
Hi! Me and two friends are trying to get a VPN working, but we cant get routing between two tunnels. This is how it looks, all servers (192.168.*.1) are running IP Masquerade to enable the other computers behind them to access the internet. Both elayne and glenn are connecting to melc, and the tunnel between melc and glenn are running TCPOnly because that glenn doesnt have a public IP (it's

Tinc on Windows
Hi folks. At the moment I'm using tinc to connect to linux boxes, both of which are behind NAT. This works just fine. I'd now like to connect some roaming windows users to the network so they can browse a samba share like I can already do with linux. These folk will likely have dynamic IP addresses. The server has an IP of 10.0.0.2 My client has an IP of 192.168.1.100 Here's what

Tinc connects but no bridge
I'm really trying to do a client to server connection more than an ethernet bridge, but I couldn't figure out from the docs where that comes in. Client is Kubuntu Breezy, and server is Debian Sarge. Tinc was installed with apt-get on both systems. Version on server is 1.0.3, on client is 1.0.4. I've spent the entire day toiling over getting this set up. I had ipchains rules, etc,

A VPN is switched mode
Hi all, I have been using tinc successfully for a while now. However, I need to do something different from my normal setup, and i am getting the feeling I am doing something obvious wrong. What I want to do is hookup 5 distant linux routers into one bigger network, Since I need to transmit both unicast and multicast traffic, the VPN network has to be in "Mode = switch" [Assumption

tinc: very interesting problem
Guus, or anyone that will help ... Okay.. I've been running tinc for a few months now, and Its been working pretty well with my machine. Attempts to install it on others WinXP Pro, WinXP Home, and WinNT boxes have been spotty at best, with some installations working perfectly, and some not working at all. My latest issue is this. My windows 2000 machine can connect perfectly to our external

Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello, response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time
