TAP unistall issue Windows XP
Hello, I've been experimenting with tinc to get to know it and I got to point where the tinc service wouldn't start anymore. Starting with debug options gave me a ".. not a usable Windows TAP Device.. File not found" report. After a lengthy period of digging, I discovered that my registry was littered with connection bindings for all the previous install/uninstall's

mac Ethernet Adress in Wine for installing Pro-Engineer Wild
Sorry for my english, it's so lala ... because I'm a German. I would like to install a 3D cad programm called Pro/Engineer 4.0 in Wine 1.3.10. I have Wildfire 3.0 running under Ubuntu, but I need to install Wildfire 4.0 version. Wildfire 3.0 was the last Linux version, all newer versions are only for Windows and Unix, but Unix support will also end with Wildfire 6.0. If I try to start

[PATCH 0/4] v2v: simplify Windows registry patching
The way we patch the Windows registry in order to allow it to boot off a virtio-blk drive was initially conceived by comparing the state with virtio-blk driver properly installed, to that without. However, we don't want to replicate the Windows PnP system; rather we need to apply just enough edits to make the system boot, and then let the Windows PnP manager figure out the rest. This series

5.3 upgrade - fuse and ipw3945 unistall
Fortunately I was starring at the screen during an upgrade and 'caught' the following set of messages. It is hard to remember what I installed fuse for, I think for webdav. My system has a ipw3945 pci card, wireless is working. Here are the messages: Uninstalling: fuse 2.7.4-1.nodist.rf (2.6.18-92.1.17.el5) (i686) -------- Uninstall Beginning -------- Module: fuse Version:

[PATCH] v2v:windows: prevent Parallels drivers from loading at boot
Parallels proprietary hypervisor uses RDPMC as the hypercall instruction. As this instruction is supported since early P6 family, the drivers didn't even bother to check for the presence of the corresponding feature in CPUID. In QEMU/KVM, however, this instruction triggers #GP unless the VM is run with PMU (performance monitoring unit) enabled, which is often not the case (due to its impact

Point-and-Print driver installation asks for confirmation on current Windows
Hi all. I have read carefully all your posts and I am glad to see that some of you workaround this new MS surprise... To solve the problem, I understand that : * if you use the "AD way of deploying printers", the workaround is to use the "Computer ConfigurationPoliciesAdministrative TemplatesPrintersOverride Print Driver Compatibility Execution Setting Reported By Print

Hosted printer drivers can not be used
Hai Christian, Hm,, you tried that Universal driver and it did not work for you,. .. :-/ That worked fine for me, so its one to have a better look at. I saw you used acl_xattr:ignore system acl also. After you changed smb.conf, did you re-apply also the rights on the shares? Try it in this order, first setup the share and correct the rights. Then correct the rights on the file system,

[COMMON PATCH v3 1/4] inject_virtio_win: match only vendor/device/revision
From: Roman Kagan <rkagan at virtuozzo.com> Since different hypervisor vendors are allowed to use their own vendor-id as PCI subsystem-vendor-id for virtio devices, during v2v conversion it makes sense to only match the vendor/device/revision and not the full device "path" in the Windows registry. This way the code will remain universal but will work for different hypervisor

[PATCH 0/8] Miscellaneous cleanups to Windows registry code.
A very miscellaneous set of cleanups to how we handle the Windows registry in virt-v2v, firstboot, and inspection code. This should all be straightforward non-controversial refactoring. Some highlights: - Add a new mllib Registry module containing various utility functions that are currently scattered all around. - Only compute the software/system hive paths once during inspection, and

[PATCH virt-v2v] v2v: windows: Install both legacy and modern virtio
Hello Roman, We have a bug with Windows 8 UEFI conversions failing with the usual 0x7B error: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1431579 There is a seemingly plausible theory that this happens because for UEFI we use a qemu Q35 machine type. Q35 machine type implies all-modern PCI-e devices, which implies the use of virtio-1.0 and disabling of virtio legacy. Virtio-1.0 uses

[PATCH v2 API PROPOSAL 0/5] inspection Add network interfaces to inspection data.
The proposed API is the same as v1, but this includes an implementation (for /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*) and modifications to virt-inspector. This compiles and works. If you look in patch 5 you can see proposed output as virt-inspector XML for a guest (although this guest has not been booted, so a real guest would hopefully have a hwaddr="MAC" attribute too). program fails to enumerate COM ports
Hi. LG PC Sync can work with ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1 but fails to enumerate com ports. I cannot select port other than COM1 and the combo box that would allow me to do that is blank. I did: # ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com5 # sudo chmod g+rw,o+rw /dev/ttyACM0 and added to registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM] "COM5"="COM5" env
