TOS
Hello Tincers, Is it possible to replicate the TOS of a package (or even the mark) from a packet before entering the TAP to match the encrypted packet that goes to the Internet? I have a 20+ nodes in a tinc network and I need to privilege ssh packets that goes inside the VPN above anything. I can't just give priority to all tinc packets as there are a lot of bulk traffic going on that does

Windows TAP Problems?
Hello tincers, I was recently trying to add a new Windows client to my tinc network and ran into an interesting error; upon starting tinc I am met with the usual successful startup (debug level 0; detects TAP device; Ready), however it appears that any writes/reads from the TAP device fail with: "Error while writing to Windows tap device <device ID truncated>: (997) Overlapped I/O

Erratic DTMF on E1/PRI (continuation of Strage bip on ISDN/PRI)
At the same site, DTMF recognition is functioning badly, sometimes duplicating digits and sometimes totally missing others. We have checked already /proc/interrups, there is no interrupt being shared. Our zaptel has .. span=1,1,0,ccs,hdb3 On zapata we have ... switchtype=euroisdn signalling=pri_cpe relaxdtmf=no (yes doesn't seem to help) -----Original Message----- From:

Tinc power consuption
hello tincers, when I on battery on my notebook, running powertop, I get nic:<tinc-net-name> as the most power consuption resource in my notebook just after the screen. This happens no matter if I have traffic or not. I am not really sure that if this is really a tinc fault or a tap/tun implementation that never sleeps. any advice? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

PriorityInheritance doesn't work (tinc 1.0.19)
Hello! I'd like to use PriorityInheritance option, despite it is still experimental. (Why it could be experimental, when it looks quite simple feature, no?) But this option doesn't change the TOS field of outgoing UDP packet. I just do tcpdump on outgoing interface from vty1: $ sudo tcpdump -vni eth0 udp dst port 655 And from vty2 I do ping with setting of tos field to EF(0xb8). $

compression
Hi tincers, simple question, I've got a tinc vpn running over a connection which is sometimes very very slow. Now, on the homepage of tinc, it says "compression of all traffic", but in the man page "compression for UDP packets". which one is true? Cheers, Jeroen. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Windows TAP Problems?
You are almost certainly hitting this TAP driver issue: https://github.com/OpenVPN/tap-windows6/issues/3 There are two possible solutions: - Downgrade the TAP driver to the old version (the one provided with tinc) - Upgrade the TAP driver to the fixed version which is included in the latest OpenVPN installers at http://openvpn.net/index.php/download/community-downloads.html Note that I did not

Windows TAP Problems?
You should mention your tinc version and the version of the "TAP-Windows Adapter V9" driver for the virtual network device you're using (i.e. the contents of "Driver version" as seen in the Device Manager). Automatic hosts files update protocol extension for Tinc
Hello dear Tincers! I recently developed an extension to tinc 1.0.x protocol which introduces automatic and decentralized hosts update subsystem. The idea is to provide stable protocol extension to tinc which will do all the dirty work of spreading information about new hosts in network across all nodes by powers of tinc itself. If you're interested, you can take a look at the diff made for

That sounds pretty amazing. Excellent work and thanks for contributing, I hope this gets implemented. memory leak
Hi, I am running tinc on alpine linux 2.7.8 in 2 seperate environments. The first environment is running for about a month without any problems. The second environment causes some trouble. It looks like a memory leak on the client side. tincd.conf: ConnectTo=ServerHost Device=/dev/net/tun Mode=switch Name=ClientHost PMTUDiscovery = yes DeviceType=tap PriorityInheritance = yes

Fwd: memory leak
Hi, I've observed this strange behaviour for a while in my test environment. It looks like that all problems gone away when I switch to "hub-mode" instead of switch mode. Does tinc still work properly in switch mode when I transport vlan tagged traffic within that tunnel? In my environment the side, which is receiving arp requests from the wired interface, is running out of

Tinc1.1pre10 on Windows 8.1?
Hello tincers, I run a small tinc mesh using version 1.1pre10 on mostly linux (debian) hosts. In the past, I was able to successfully join my windows machine to the tinc network, when I was running an earlier version of tinc (throughout the mesh). However, with 1.1pre10, I have had no success. Is this a known error, a misconfiguration on my part, or some other issue? I currently have no tinc-up
